OPERATING FROM INSIDE
The back window can be operated with
the switch on the instrument panel.
The ignition key must be in the “ON” posi-
tion.
Key off operation: If the both front doors
are closed, the window works for 43 sec-
onds even after the ignition switch is
turned off. It stops working when the ei-
ther front door is opened.
To open: Push the switch on the “
”
side. The back window will fully open au-
tomatically. To stop the window partway,
push either side of the switch. When you quickly push and release the
switch, the back window will open while
the switch is depressed and stop when
released.
To close: Push the switch on the “
”
side. The back window will fully close au-
tomatically. To stop the window partway,
push either side of the switch.
When you quickly push and release the
switch, the back window will close while
the switch is depressed and stop when
released.
You can also open the back window when
the back window wiper is working. At that
time, the wiper stops working until the
window is closed again.
If the back window is not fully closed, the
back window wiper, washer, and defogger
will not work. (See “Back window wiper
and washer” on page 156 and “Back
window and outside rear view mirror
defoggers” on page 156 in Section 1 −5.) Jam protection function:
During automat-
ic closing operation, the window stops and
opens slightly if something gets caught
between the window and window frame.
If the window receives a strong impact,
this function may work even if nothing is
caught.
CAUTION
Never try jamming any part of your
body to activate the jam protection
function intentionally, as it could re-
sult in a death or serious injury.
The jam protection function may
not work if something gets caught
just before the window is fully
closed.
Power back window
332007 SEQUOIA from Aug. ’07 Prod. (OM34462U)
If the battery is disconnected or run
down, the back window may not operate
automatically and the jam protection func-
tion will not function correctly after you
reconnect, replace or recharge the battery.
In any of these cases, you should normal-
ize the back window.
To normalize the back window, close the
window fully by the power back window
switch. If the window has already been
closed, open it slightly and then fully
close it using the power back window
switch.
Make sure that the back window opens
and closes automatically. If the back win-
dow cannot be operated properly, have it
checked by your Toyota dealer.

OPERATING FROM OUTSIDE
The back window can be opened and
closed with the key operation in the back
door keyhole.
To open: Turn the key fully counterclock-
wise and hold it.
After the door is unlocked, the window
begins to open. To stop the window part-
way, release the key.
To close: Turn the key fully clockwise and
hold it.
After the door is locked, the window be-
gins to close. To stop the window partway,
release the key.
This door key linked function can be
erased. For details, contact your Toyota
dealer.
You can also open the back window when
the back window wiper is working. At the
time, the wiper stops working until the
window is closed again.
If the back window is not fully closed, the
back window wiper, washer, and defogger
will not work. (See “Back window wiper
and washer” on page 156 and “Back
window and outside rear view mirror
defoggers” on page 156 in Section 1 −5.)

ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM
When the center interior light switch is in
the “DOOR” position and any of the side
doors is opened, the personal light will
come on. After all the side doors are
closed, the light remains on for a certain
time before fading out.
However, in the following cases, the light
goes out immediately:
All the side doors are closed when the
ignition key is in the “ACC” or “ON”
position.
The ignition key is turned to the “ACC”,
“ON” or “START” position after all the
side doors are closed.
All the doors are locked when the light
is still on.
When all the doors are unlocked using
either the key or the wireless remote con-
trol transmitter simultaneously, the light
come on for about 15 seconds before fad-
ing out.
The following adjustments can be made in
this system. For details, contact your
Toyota dealer.
Cancelling the door key or wireless re-
mote control transmitter linked opera-
tion
Changing the timing for the light turn-
ing off
To prevent the battery being discharged,
the light will automatically turn off when
the key is removed and the door is left
opened with the center interior light switch
in “DOOR” position for 20 minutes or
more.
For details about center interior light, see
“Center interior and personal lights” on
page 152 or “Center interior light” on page
153 in this Section.

Position 2Normal
To squirt washer fluid on the back window,
twist the knob upward or downward as far
as it will go (position 3 or 4). The knob
automatically returns from these positions
after you release it. The back window wip-
er operates while the washer squirts. For instructions on adding washer fluid,
see “Adding washer fluid” on page 452 in
Section 7
−3.
If the back window is not fully closed, the
back window wiper and washer will not
work. Make sure the back window is fully
closed when using the back window wiper
and washer.
NOTICE
Do not operate the back window wip-
er if the back window is dry. It may
scratch the glass.
u14023
To defog or defrost the back window,
push the switch with the back window
closed.
The key must be in the “ON” position.
The thin heater wires on the inside of the
back window will quickly clear the surface.
An indicator light will illuminate to indicate
the defogger is operating.
On some models, heater panels in the
outside rear view mirrors will also quickly
clear the surfaces.
Push the switch once again to turn the
defogger off.
The system will automatically shut off af-
ter the defoggers have operated about 15
minutes.

Vehicles with rear height control air
suspension: If you drive through
water, set the vehicle height to “HI”
with the height control switch and
then change to manual control
mode by pushing the height control
mode select switch. Do not exceed
30 km/h (18 mph) or “HI” mode will
automatically change to “N” mode.
Do not drive through water deeper
than about 700 mm (28 in.) even if
the vehicle height is in “HI” mode.
Driving in the rain
Driving on a slippery road surface
Drive carefully when it is raining, because
visibility will be reduced, the windows may
become fogged−up, and the road will be
slippery.
Drive carefully when it starts to rain,
because the road surface will be espe-
cially slippery.
Refrain from high speeds when driving
on an expressway in the rain, because
there may be a layer of water between
the tires and the road surface, prevent-
ing the steering and brakes from oper-
ating properly.
CAUTION
Sudden braking, acceleration and
steering when driving on a slippery
road surface may cause tire slip-
page and reduce your ability to
control the vehicle, resulting in an
accident.
Sudden changes in engine speed,
such as sudden engine braking,
may cause the vehicle to skid, re-
sulting in an accident.
After driving through a puddle,
lightly depress the brake pedal to
make sure that the brakes are func-
tioning properly. Wet brake pads
may prevent the brakes from func-
tioning properly. If the brakes on
only one side are wet and not func-
tioning properly, steering control
may be affected, resulting in an ac-
cident.
