The multi-function system us es two automatic memories: 1 - Actual
memory and 2 - Total memory . The selected memory will be shown
in the upper right-hand corner of the display.
Selecting memory
– With the ignition switched on, briefly press the button ⇒page 55, fig. 35 on the windscreen wiper lever to move
between the two memories.
Resetting the memory
– Select the memory that you would like to reset.
– Press and hold button on the windscreen wiper lever for at least 2 seconds.The trip memory 1 collects the travel and cons umption data from the moment
the ignition is switched on until it is switched off. If the journey is continued
within two hours of switching off the i gnition, the new values will be added to
the existing trip recorder memory. The memory will automatically be deleted
if the journey is interrupted for more than two hours.
The total journey memory 2 collects the journey data for any number of indi-
vidual journeys (even if the ignition is switched off for longer than two hours)
up to a total of 99 hours and 59 minute s travel time, 9999 miles distance trav-
elled and 999 litres of fuel consumed. The memory will automatically be
deleted if one of the named values is reached.
Displays in the multi-function display (MFD)* You can switch between the following displays in the multi-function display
(MFD) by operating the rocker switch ⇒ fig. 37 on the windscreen wiper
lever.

NoteWhen the vehicle is stationary or travelling at very low speeds, the tempera-
ture displayed may be slightly higher than the actual ambient temperature as

The upper counter in the display registers the total distance covered by the
vehicle. The lower counter registers the short journeys. The last digit indicates steps
of 100 metres. The trip recorder counter may be reset by the reset button
⇒
page 52, fig. 32 .
Service interval display
A Service pre-warning will appear in the mileage displays if a service is due
soon. A spanner symbol appears and the display “km” with the distance that
can be driven until the next service appointment is due. The display will
change after approximately 10 seconds. A clock symbol appears and the
number of days until the next service appointment is due.
The following message appears on the instrument panel if a service is due:
INSP- Maintenance service
The service message will disappear approximately 20 seconds after the igni-
tion is switched on or the engine is running. This may also be turned off
pressing the short journey counter reset button for more than 0.5 seconds.

The Service Centre who carry out the maintenance service will reset the main-
tenance interval display on completion of the service.
We recommend that the repair and main tenance work only be carried out at
Authorised Service Centres.
With the ignition switched on, you can call up the current service message by
pressing the trip counter reset button for 2 seconds.
The service indicator can also be reset by pressing the trip counter button.
Proceed as follows:
- Switch off ignition.
- Keep “Reset” button on distance counter pressed.
- Connect ignition with the “Reset ” button pressed. The fixed mode
display appears.
- Release the reset button and rotate it to the right. The display will return to the normal mode. The indication has been reset.

Caution
We recommend that the resetting of the service interval indicator be carried
out in an Authorised Service Centre to avoid possible faults in the vehicle.
Note
•
The indication can only be reset when a pre-warning or warning is indi-
cated.
•
Do not reset the display between two service intervals, otherwise the
display will be incorrect.
•
The values are stored even when the battery is disconnected.

Note
The compressor should never be allowed to run for longer than 6 minutes.FusesChanging a fuse
If a fuse has blown it must be replacedfuse cover
– Switch off the ignition and the component concerned.
– Identify the fuse for the failed component ⇒page 215.
– Take the plastic clip from inside the fuse cover, fit it onto the blown fuse and pull the fuse out. – Replace the blown fuse (which will have a melted metal strip)
with a new fuse of the same ampere rating.
The individual electrical circuits are pr otected by fuses. The fuses are located
behind a cover at the left-hand end of the dash panel. In versions with the
steering wheel on the right the fuses are on the right-hand side of the instru-
ment panel, behind a cover.
The electric windows are protected by circuit breakers. These reset automat-
ically after a few seconds when the overload (caused for example by frozen
windows) has been corrected.
Colour coding of fuses
WARNING
Never “repair” damaged fuses and never replace them with fuses with a
higher rating. Failure to comply could re sult in fire. This could also cause
damage to other parts of the electrical system.
Note
•
If a newly replaced fuse blows again after a short time, the electrical
system must be checked by a qualified workshop as soon as possible.

The halogen lamps (H3, H7...) are pressurised and might explode on
changing them.

Therefore protective gloves and glas ses should be worn when changing a
halogen lamp.Note

Due to the difficulty in accessing the lamps, any replacement work should
be done by a SEAT dealer. However, we shall explain how to change these
lamps, except for the xenon lights*.

9)On this type of headlight, the bulb changes must be made by the SEAT dealer, given
that complex elements must be removed from the vehicle and a reset must be made
on the automatic control system incorporated.10)The Xenon bulbs discharge 2.5 times the light flux and have an average lifespan of 5
times more than that of halo gen bulbs, this means that, except due to unusual circum-
stances, there is no need to change the bulbs for the whole life of the vehicle.
