Newbrakepadsanddiscshavetobe“brokenin”,andthereforeonlyattainoptimalfrictionwhenthecarhascoveredseveralhundredmilesorkm.Theslightlyreducedbrakingabilitymustbecompensatedforbypressingthebrakepedalharder.Thisalsoapplieswheneverthebrakepadsandbrakediscsarereplaced.

Newtiresdonothavemaximumtraction.Theytendtobeslippery.
Breakinnewtiresbydrivingatmoder-atespeedsduringthefirst60milesto120miles/100kmto200km.Longerbrakingdistancesmustbeanticipated.
Engineoilandfuelconsumption
Duringthebreak-inperiodoilandfuelconsumptionmaybehigherthannormal.
Asalways,therateofoilconsumptiondependsonthequalityandviscosityofoil,thespeedatwhichtheengineisoperated,theclimateandroadconditions,aswellastheamountofdilutionandoxidationofthelubricant.
Makeahabitofcheckingengineoilwitheveryrefueling,addifnecessary.

Immobilizer
Thereisatransponder(anelectroniccomponent)inthekeygrip,containingastoredcode.Whentheignitionisswitchedon,theignitionlockchecksthecode.Theimmobilizercanbeswitchedoffandthe
enginestartedonlyusinganauthorizedignitionkey.
Switchingofftheimmobilizer
Inserttheignitionkeyintotheignitionlock.
Iftheignitionisleftonformorethan2minuteswithouttheenginebeingstarted,theimmobilizerisswitchedonagain.
Ifthishappens,turntheignitionkeytotheleftbeforestartingtheengine.Theimmobilizerisswitchedoffagain,andtheenginecanbestarted.

interrogatedandgoesoutwhentheengineisstartedifthecheckisnotyetcomplete.IftheABSwarninglampfailstogoout,thisindicatesthatABShasbeendeactivatedduetoafault.Ifthewarninglightsintheinstrumentpanelandon-boardcomputerlightupwhileyouaredriving,thisindicatesthatafaulthasoccurred.Inbothcases,normalbraking,asinvehicleswithoutABS,isstillretained.
TheABSsystemshould,however,beexaminedatanauthorizedPorschedealerimmediatelytopreventtheoccurrenceoffurtherfaults.
IftheABSsystembecomesinoperative,takeyourvehicletoyourauthorizedPorschedealerimmediately.

Toavoidbatteryrun-down,alwaysremovetheignitionkeyfromtheignitionlock.
Makesurethatwhenyouleavethecar,evenbriefly,youhavewithdrawntheignitionkey.
Engagethesteeringlockbymovingthesteeringwheeltotheleftorright.Turnthesteeringwheeltothelockingpositionbeforeyouswitchofftheenginesothatyoudon’thavetoexertyourselfwhenlockingorunlockingthesteering.

Thetachometershowstheenginespeedinrevolutionsperminute(rpm).Thebeginningoftheredmarksattherightendofthescaleindicatesthemaximumpermissibleenginerpm.Aspeedlimiterpreventstheenginefrombeingoverrevvedduringacceleration.Beforereachingthisarea,thenexthighergearshouldbeselected.Shifttothenextlowergearwhentheenginerpmdropsbelow1500rpm.
