Turn and Lane-Change Signals
The turn signal has two upward (for right) and two
downward (for left) positions. These positions
allow you to signal a turn or a lane change.
To signal a turn, move the lever all the way up or
down. When the turn is nished, the lever will
return automatically.
An arrow on the
instrument panel cluster
will ash in the direction
of the turn or lane
change.
To signal a lane change, raise or lower the lever
until the arrow starts to ash. Hold it there until you
complete your lane change. The lever will return
by itself when you release it.As you signal a turn or a lane change, if the arrows
ash rapidly, a signal bulb may be burned out and
other drivers will not see your turn signal. If a bulb is
burned out, replace it to help avoid an accident.
If the arrows do not go on at all when you signal a
turn, check the fuse. SeeFuses and Circuit
Breakers on page 363.
Headlamp High/Low-Beam Changer
To change the headlamps from low beam to high
beam, push the turn signal lever away from you.
When the high beams
are on, this light on
the instrument panel
cluster will also be on.
To change the headlamps from high beam to low
beam, pull the turn signal lever toward you.

Flash-to-Pass
This feature lets you use your high-beam
headlamps to signal a driver in front of you that
you want to pass.
To use it, pull the turn signal/multifunction lever
toward you until the high-beam headlamps
come on, then release the lever to turn them off.
Windshield Wipers
Use this lever, located on the right side of the
steering wheel, to operate the windshield wipers.
9(Off):Move the lever to this position to turn off
the windshield wipers.
&(Intermittent; Speed Sensitive Wipers):
Move the lever to this position for intermittent or
speed sensitive operation. When you select this
position, the delay will vary depending on the
vehicles speed, as well as, the manually selected
delay.
x(Delay):When the lever is in the intermittent
position, turn the intermittent adjust band with this
symbol on it up or down to set for a shorter or
longer delay between wipes. To the left of the
adjust band are bars, increasing in size from bottom
to top, that indicate the frequency of the wipes.
Smaller bars mean the wipers movement is less
frequent. Larger bars mean the movement is more
frequent.
6(Low Speed):Move the lever up to the rst
setting past intermittent, for steady wiping at
low speed.
1(High Speed):Move the lever up to the
second setting past intermittent, for wiping at high
speed.

LIGHT FLASH
If your vehicle has Remote Keyless Entry (RKE),
this feature, which allows the vehicle’s exterior
hazard/turn signal lighting to ash every time the
lock, unlock, or trunk release buttons on the RKE
transmitter are pressed, can be enabled or
disabled. When LIGHT FLASH appears on the
display, press and hold the reset button for at least
one second to scroll through the available settings:
OFF:The exterior hazard/turn signal lighting will
not ash when the lock, unlock, or trunk release
buttons on the RKE transmitter are pressed.
ON (default):The exterior hazard/turn signal
lighting will ash when the lock, unlock, or trunk
release buttons on the RKE transmitter are
pressed.

Choose one of the available settings and press
the information button to select it and move on to
the next feature.
DELAY LOCK
This feature, which delays the actual locking of the
vehicle, can be enabled or disabled. When DELAY
LOCK appears on the display, press and hold the
reset button for at least one second to scroll
through the available settings:
ON (default):The doors will not lock until
ve seconds after the last door is closed. You can
temporarily override delayed locking by pressing
the power lock switch or the lock button on
the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter a
second time.
OFF:The doors will lock immediately when
pressing the power lock switch or the lock button
on the RKE transmitter.

Choose one of the available settings and press
the information button to select it and move on to
the next feature.

Radio with CD (Base)
Playing the Radio
O
(Power/Volume):Press this knob to turn the
system on and off.
Turn this knob clockwise or counterclockwise to
increase or decrease the volume.
The radio goes to the previous volume setting
whenever the radio is turned on. The volume can
still be adjusted by using the volume knob.
Finding a Station
BAND:Press this button to switch between FM1,
FM2, or AM. The selection displays.
f(Tune):Turn this knob to select radio stations.
©SEEK¨:Press the right or left SEEK
arrow to go to the next or to the previous station
and stay there.
To scan stations, press and hold either SEEK
arrow for a few seconds until a beep sounds. The
radio goes to a station, plays for a few seconds,
then goes to the next station. Press either
SEEK arrow again to stop scanning.
The radio only seeks and scans stations with a
strong signal that are in the selected band.
4(Information):Press this button to switch the
display between the radio station frequency
and the time. While the ignition is off, press this
button to display the time.

display. Continue pressing the information button to
highlight the desired label, or press the pushbutton
positioned under any one of the labels and the
information about that label displays.
While information is not available, No Info displays.
Storing a Radio Station as a Favorite
Drivers are encouraged to set up their radio station
favorites while the vehicle is parked. Tune to your
favorite stations using the presets, favorites button,
and steering wheel controls if the vehicle has this

g(Mute/Voice Activation):Press this button to
silence the system. Press this button again to turn
the sound on. If your vehicle is equipped with
OnStar
®, press and hold this button for two seconds
to activate voice on the OnStar system. See the
OnStar
®System on page 127in this manual for
more information.
Radio Reception
You may experience frequency interference
and static during normal radio reception if items
such as cellphone chargers, vehicle convenience
accessories, and external electronic devices are
plugged into the accessory power outlet. If there is
interference or static, unplug the item from the
accessory power outlet.
AM
The range for most AM stations is greater than for
FM, especially at night. The longer range can cause
station frequencies to interfere with each other.For better radio reception, most AM radio stations
boosts the power levels during the day, and
then reduce these levels during the night. Static can
also occur when things like storms and power lines
interfere with radio reception. When this happens,
try reducing the treble on your radio.
FM Stereo
FM stereo gives the best sound, but FM signals
reach only about 10 to 40 miles (16 to 65 km).
Tall buildings or hills can interfere with FM signals,
causing the sound to fade in and out.
XM™ Satellite Radio Service
XM™ Satellite Radio Service gives digital radio
reception from coast-to-coast in the 48 contiguous
United States, and in Canada. Just as with FM, tall
buildings or hills can interfere with satellite radio
signals, causing the sound to fade in and out. In
addition, traveling or standing under heavy foliage,
bridges, garages, or tunnels can cause loss of the
XM™ signal for a period of time. The radio could
display NO XM SIGNAL to indicate interference.

Check your vehicle’s mirrors, glance over
your shoulder, and start your left lane
change signal before moving out of the right
lane to pass. When you are far enough ahead
of the passed vehicle to see its front in your
vehicle’s inside mirror, activate the right
lane change signal and move back into the
right lane. Remember that your vehicle’s
passenger side outside mirror is convex.
The vehicle you just passed may seem to be
farther away from you than it really is.
Try not to pass more than one vehicle at a
time on two-lane roads. Reconsider before
passing the next vehicle.
Do not overtake a slowly moving vehicle too
rapidly. Even though the brake lamps are
not ashing, it may be slowing down or starting
to turn.
If you are being passed, make it easy for the
following driver to get ahead of you. Perhaps
you can ease a little to the right.
Loss of Control
Let us review what driving experts say about what
happens when the three control systems — brakes,
steering, and acceleration — do not have enough
friction where the tires meet the road to do what the
driver has asked.
In any emergency, do not give up. Keep trying to
steer and constantly seek an escape route or
area of less danger.
Skidding
In a skid, a driver can lose control of the vehicle.
Defensive drivers avoid most skids by taking
reasonable care suited to existing conditions, and
by not overdriving those conditions. But skids
are always possible.
The three types of skids correspond to your
vehicle’s three control systems. In the braking skid,
your wheels are not rolling. In the steering or
cornering skid, too much speed or steering in a
curve causes tires to slip and lose cornering force.
And in the acceleration skid, too much throttle
causes the driving wheels to spin.
