CHILD SAFETY
The incorrect installation of a
child seat in a vehicle compro-
mises the child’s protection in
the event of an accident. For information regarding the
ISOFIX child seats which can be
installed in your vehicle, consult
the summary table for the loca-
tion of the ISOFIX child seats.
"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS
Your vehicle has been approved in ac-
cordance with the
new ISOFIX regula-
tion .
T h e s e a t s , r e p r e s e n t e d b e l o w , a r e fi t t e d
with regulation ISOFIX mountings: These are three rings for each seat:
- two rings
A , located between the
vehicle seat back and cushion, indi-
cated by a label,
- a ring B , u s e d t o fi x t h e u p p e r s t r a p ,
referred to as the TOP TETHER , in-
dicated by a label. This ISOFIX mounting system guaran-
t e e s y o u f a s t , r e l i a b l e a n d s a f e fi t t i n g o f
the child seat in your vehicle.
The
ISOFIX child seats a r e fi t t e d w i t h
two locks which are secured easily on
the two rings A .
Some also have an upper strap which
is attached to the ring B .
To attach this strap, remove the vehi-
c l e s e a t ’ s h e a d r e s t r a i n t . T h e n fi x t h e
hook on the ring B and tighten the up-
per strap.

The incorrect installation of a
child seat in a vehicle compro-
mises the child’s protection in
the event of an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat
belts or the child seat harnesses
keeping the slack in relation to
the child’s body to a minimum,
even for short journeys.
For optimum installation of the
"forward facing" child seat, en-
sure that the back of the child
seat is in contact with the back
of the vehicle’s seat and that the
head restraint does not cause
any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be
removed, ensure that it is stored
or attached securely to prevent
it from being thrown around the
vehicle in the event of sharp
braking.
C h i l d r e n u n d e r t h e a g e o f
10 must not travel in the "for-
ward facing" position on the front
passenger seat, unless the rear
seats are already occupied by
other children, cannot be used
or are absent.
Disarm the passenger air bag
when a "rear facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk
being seriously injured or killed

The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child’s shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child’s
thighs.
PEUGEOT recommends the use of
a b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t -
ted with a seat belt guide at shoulder
level.
As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- one or more children alone and un-
supervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the

Take care not to open the rear win-
dows by more than one third.
To protect young children from the

SAFETY
For the air bags to be fully
effective, observe the
following safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat
belt.
Do not leave anything between
the occupants and the air bags
(a child, pet, object...). This could
hamper the operation of the air
bags or injure the occupants.
After an accident or if the vehi-
cle has been stolen or broken
into, have the air bag systems
checked.
All work on the air bag system is
strictly forbidden unless it is car-
r i e d o u t b y q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f
the PEUGEOT network.
Even if all of the precautions men-
tioned are observed, a risk of in-
jury or of minor burns to the head,
chest or arms when an air bag is
triggered cannot be ruled out. In
f a c t , t h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n -
stantly (within a few milliseconds)
t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e s a m e t i m e
discharging the hot gas via open-
ings provided for this purpose. Front air bags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resti
ng your hands on
the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on the fascia.
Smoke as little as possible as deployment of the air bags can ca use burns or
the risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
Side air bags
P u t a p p r o v e d c o v e r s o n l y o n t h e s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a t i o n o f t h e
side air bags. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r g l u e a n y t h i n g t o t h e s e a t b a c k s . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e
chest or arms if the side air bag is triggered.
Do not sit with the upper part of the body any nearer to the door than neces-
sary.
Curtain air bags
D o n o t fi x o r g l u e a n y t h i n g t o t h e r o o f . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e h e a d i f t h e
curtain air bag is triggered.
Do not remove the grab handles installed on the roof, the y play a part in secur-
ing the curtain air bags.

Bonnet strut
OPENING THE BONNET
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
end of its travel. Check that the bonnet
is properly locked.
From inside: pull the handle A , on the
right-hand side below the door, towards
you.
From outside: move the catch to the
left then raise the bonnet. Secure the strut in its housing to hold
the bonnet open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace the
strut in its clip.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
I f y o u r u n o u t o f f u e l , fi l l t h e t a n k a n d o p -
erate the starter until the engine starts.
Several attempts must be made before
the engine re-starts.
Protection system which also provides
access for checking the various levels
of the engine components.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The battery A is located under the bon-
net on the left.
To gain access to it:
open the bonnet using the interior
l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r l e v e r ,
secure the bonnet strut.
BATTER BATTERY
Procedure for charging your battery
w h e n i t i s fl a t o r f o r s t a r t i n g t h e e n g i n e
using another battery.
Access to the battery
Connect the red cable to the posi-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,
then to the positive terminal (+) of
the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative terminal
(-) of the slave battery B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to an earth point C on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ( f o r e x a m -
ple, right-hand engine mounting).
Start the engine of the assisting ve-
hicle.
Operate the starter, let the engine
run.
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
Raise the front of the cover 1 to re-
lease the three clips 2 .
Then pull the cover 1 towards you
to release the clip 3 and remove the
cover.
Check the electrolyte level reg-
ularly. If necessary, top up the
level with distilled water.
