electronic engine immobilizer system to
reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle
use.
Your immobilizer system is comprised of
a small transponder in the ignition key
and electronic devices inside the vehicle.
With the immobilizer system, whenever
you insert your ignition key into the igni-
tion switch and turn it to ON, it checks
and determines and verifies if the ignition
key is valid or not.If the key is determined to be valid, the
engine will start.
If the key is determined to be invalid, the
engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizer sys-
tem:Insert the ignition key into the key cylin-
der and turn it to the ON position.To activate the immobilizer system:Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
The immobilizer system activates auto-
matically. Without a valid ignition key for
your vehicle, the engine will not start.✽ ✽
NOTICEWhen starting the engine, do not use the
key with other immobilizer keys around.
Otherwise the engine may not start or
may stop soon after it starts. Keep each
key separate in order to avoid a starting
malfunction.✽ ✽
NOTICEIf you need additional keys or lose your
keys, consult an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
D010301AENLimp home (override) procedureWhen you turn the ignition key to the ON
position, if the immobilizer indicator
( ) goes off after blinking 5 times,
your transponder equipped in the ignition
key is out of order. You cannot start the
engine without the limp home procedure.
To start the engine, you have to input
your password by using the ignition
switch.
The following procedure is how to input
your password of “2345” as an example.
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
The immobilizer indicator ( ) will
blink 5 times and go off indicating the
beginning of the limp home procedure.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ACC posi-
tion.
3. To enter the first digit (in this example
“2”), turn the ignition key to the ON and
ACC position twice. Perform the same
procedure for the next digits within the
next 3 to 10 seconds (for example, for
“3”, turn the ignition ON and ACC 3
times).

4. If all of the digits have been input suc-
cessfully, you have to start the engine
within 30 seconds. If you attempt to
start the engine after 30 seconds, the
engine will not start and you will have
to input your password again.
After performing the limp home proce-
dure, you must see an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer immediately to inspect
and repair your ignition key or immobiliz-
er system.This device complies with Part 15 of
the FCC rules.
Operation is subject to the following two
conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful
interference, and
2. This device must accept any interfer-
ence received, including interference
that may cause undesired operation.
CAUTION
The transponder in your ignition
key is an important part of the
immobilizer system. It is designed
to give years of trouble-free service,
however you should avoid expo-
sure to moisture, static electricity
and rough handling. Immobilizer
system malfunction could occur.
CAUTION
Do not change, alter or adjust the
immobilizer system because it
could cause the immobilizer sys-
tem to malfunction and should only
be serviced by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Malfunctions caused by improper
alterations, adjustments or modifi-
cations to the immobilizer system
are not covered by your vehicle
manufacturer warranty.

Changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could
void the user's authority to operate
the equipment.

This light illuminates when the immobiliz-
er key is inserted and turned to the ON
position to start the engine.
At this time, you can start the engine. The
light goes out after the engine is running.
If this light blinks when the ignition switch
is in the ON position before starting the
engine, have the system checked by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
With smart key system (if equipped)
If any of the following occurs in a vehicle
equipped with the smart key, the immobi-
lizer indicator illuminates, blinks or the
light goes off. When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, if the smart key is in the vehi-
cle, the indicator will illuminate (until
the engine is started), however, if the
smart key is not in the vehicle, the indi-
cator will turn off after blinking.
 When the ignition switch is turned to
the ON position without the smart key
in the vehicle, the indicator light turns
off after blinking.
 Once the door opens and closes with
the ignition switch in the ACC or ON
position, the system checks for the
smart key. If the smart key is in the
vehicle, the indicator illuminates, but if
it is not, the alarm will sound for 5 sec-
onds.
 When the ignition switch is ON and the
indicator turns off after 2 seconds, the
system may have a problem. Have the
vehicle checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
 When the smart key is not in the vehi-
cle or the battery is weak, the indicator
will blink and you will not be able to
start the engine. If, however, the bat-
tery is weak, you may still be able to
start the engine by inserting the smart
key in the ignition switch. If smart key
system related parts have a problem,
the indicator blinks.
D150318AUNLow fuel level warning lightThis warning light indicates the fuel tank
is nearly empty. When it comes on, you
should add fuel as soon as possible.
Driving with the fuel level warning light on
or with the fuel level below “E” can cause
the engine to misfire and damage the
catalytic converter.D150319AUNLow washer fluid level
warning lightThis warning light indicates the washer
fluid reservoir is near empty. Refill the
washer fluid as soon as possible.

WARNING
The ignition switch will turn, and
the engine will start, only when the
smart key is in the vehicle and the
brake has been depressed.
Never allow children or any person
who is unfamiliar with the vehicle
to touch the ignition switch or relat-
ed parts.
3. Leave the smart key inside the vehicle.
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Depress and hold the ignition switch.
The immobilizer indicator ( ) illu-
minates on the instrument panel for
approximately 10 seconds.
6. With the ignition switch depressed and
held, start the engine by turning the
ignition switch on.
If the ignition switch is released, the
ignition switch will be locked. If this
occurs, repeat the above steps.
If the battery is weak or the smart key
does not work correctly, you can start the
engine by inserting the smart key in the
ignition switch. Even if the smart key is in the vehicle,
if it is far away from you, the engine
may not start.
 When a door is opened and closed
with the ignition switch in the ACC or
ON position, if the smart key is not in
the vehicle, the chime will sound for
approximately 5 seconds. Always keep
the smart key in your possession.
