Under normal circumstances, the light will illuminate when the ignition is turned"on" and will be extinguished when the engine is started. If the oil pressure warning light illumi-nates whilst the engine is running, stop the engine immediately and check the engine oil level. If the level is insuffi-cient, add the required amount of oil as indicated by the engine oil dipstick. If the light fails to extinguish when theengine is restarted, do not continue to operate the vehicle. If the oil pressure light illuminates dur-ing normal operation and the cause is not an insufficient oil level, or the light fails to illuminate when the ignition isturned "on", contact the nearest Hyundai authorised repairer before further oper- ating the vehicle. Malfunction Indicator
Light
This light illuminates when there is amalfunction of an exhaust gas relatedcomponent, and the system is not func- tioning properly so that the exhaust gas regulation values are not satisfied. Thislight will illuminate when the ignition key is tuned to the "ON" position, and then it will go out after the engine start. If itilluminates whilst driving, or does not illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, take your car toyour nearest Hyundai authorised re- pairer and have the system checked.

B260P02Y-EAT ABS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)(Not all models)
When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the Anti-Lock Brake System SRI will come on and then go off in a approximately seconds. If the ABS SRI remains on, comes on whilst driving, or does not come on when the key is turned to the "ON" position, this indi- cates that there may be a problem with the ABS. If this occurs, have your vehicle checked by your Hyundai authorised repairer as soon as possible. The nor- mal braking system will still be opera- tional, but without the assistance of the anti-lock brake system.
CAUTION:
If the both ABS SRI and Parking Brake/Brake fluid level warning lights re- main "ON" or come on whilst driving,there may be a problem with E.B.D.
(Electronic Brake Force Distribution). If this occurs, avoid sudden stopsand have your vehicle checked by your Hyundai authorised repairer as soon as possible.

B270B02O-EAT PARKING START WARNING SOUND (Not all models) If the vehicle is driven at 6mph(10km/h) for more than 2~3 seconds, the warning chime will sound continuously when theparking brake engaged.
B900A01A-EAT ACOUSTIC WARNING SOUND (Not all models) The acoustic warning chime sounds when the tail lights are on and the door in driver side is open. This prevents thebattery from discharging when the car is left with the tail lights on. The chime sounds until the tail lights are turned off.

Diesel Pre-heat Indicator Light(Diesel Engine)
The indicator light illuminates amber when the ignition switch is placed at the "ON" position. The engine can be startedafter the pre-heat indicator light goes off. The illuminating time varies with the water temperature, air temperature andbattery condition. NOTE: If the engine were not started 10 seconds after the preheating is com- pleted, turn the ignition key oncemore to the "LOCK" position, and then to the "ON" position, in order to preheat again.
B265A01FC-EAT Fuel Filter Warning Light (Diesel Engine)
This light illuminates when the engine has started and goes off after a approxi-mately seconds. If it lights up whilst the engine is running, it indicates that water has accumulated inside the fuel filter. Ifthis happens, remove the water from the fuel filter. (Refer to "6-32 page")

Sidelight auto cut (Not all models)
o The purpose of this feature is to prevent the battery from being dis- charged. The system automatically turns off the small light when the driver removes the ignition key andopens the driver- side door.
o With this feature, the sidelight will be
turned off automatically if the driverparks on the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lights on whenthe ignition key is removed, perform thefollowing :
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the sidelights OFF and ON
again using the light switch on the steering column. SB220E1-E Headlight Flash
The headlights may be flashed by pull- ing the turn signal switch lever towards the steering wheel. The headlights will be extinguished when the switch isreleased.
SB220D1-E High And Low Beam To turn on the headlight high beams, push the lever forward (away from you). For low beams, pull the lever back(toward you). The appropriate headlight beam indicator light will come on at the same time.

WINDSCREEN WIPER/ WASHER SWITCH
SB230A1-E The windscreen wiper switch, depen- dent upon model, has three operating positions.
1.Intermittent wiper operation
(Not all models)
2.Low speed operation
3.High speed operation NOTE: To prevent damage to the wiper sys- tem, do not attempt to wipe away heavy accumulations of snow or ice. Accumulated snow and ice should be removed manually. If there is onlya light layer of snow or ice, operate the heater in the defrost mode to melt the snow or ice before using the wiper.

B360A01Y-GAT Rear Fog Light Switch To turn on the rear fog lights, push the switch. They will come on when the headlight switch is in the second posi- tion and the key is in the "ON" position.

To turn on the front fog lights, push the switch in the "ON" position. They will come on when the headlight switch is in the first or second position.
CAUTION:
The inside of the rear windscreenshould never be cleaned with a hardor sharp implement since damage to the heating element may occur. The glass should only be cleaned with asoft cloth or chamois leather with the use only of a mild detergent or pro- prietary glass cleaner where neces-sary. Only horizontal movement of the cloth should be made when clean- ing the glass and care should beexercised to ensure that the heating elements are not damaged by rings or jewellery whilst the glass is beingcleaned. SB290A02-F For the cigar lighter to work, the key must be in the "ACC" or the "ON"position. To use the cigar lighter, push the lighter all the way into its socket. When the element is heated, the lighterwill pop out into the "ready" position. Do not hold the cigar lighter at the depressed position which may result indamage to the vehicle wiring or an electrical fire. If it is necessary to re- place the cigarette lighter, use only agenuine Hyundai replacement part.

SB380A2-E The parking brake must always be set when the vehicle is to be left unattended.When the parking brake is applied, and the ignition key is at the "ON" position, the parking brake warning lamp will beilluminated. Before driving the vehicle, the parking brake must be fully released and the warning lamp extinguished.

PARKING BRAKE
In addition it is recommended thatwhen parking the vehicle on a gradi-ent, the shift lever should be posi- tioned in the appropriate low gear on manual transmission vehicles or inthe Park position on automatic trans- mission vehicles.
o To release the parking brake, first apply the foot brake and pull up theparking brake lever slightly. Sec- ondly, depress the release buttonand lower the parking brake lever whilst holding the button.

SB340B3-E Interior Light The interior courtesy light has a button of three positions. The three positions are:
oDR In the "DR" position, the interior cour- tesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of the ignition key position. The light goes out when thedoor is closed.
oON In the "ON" position, the light stays on at all times.
2. Turn the hexagonal bolts with a socket
wrench counterclockwise to removethe front overhead console.
3. Insert the hexagonal head wrench
provided with the vehicle into thesocket. This wrench can be found in the vehicle's luggage room or glove box.

INTERIOR LIGHT
The two map lights are located at each side of the interior light. The lights may be operated by depress- ing the switch to turn on the light andpressing again to turn off the light. This light produces a spot beam for conve- nient use as a map light at night or asa personal light for the driver or the passenger.

o The hatchback door can be locked or
unlocked with a key.
o The hatchback door is opened by pulling the outside handle up, raisingthe hatchback door manually.
o To close, lower the hatchback door, then press down on it until it isclosed. To be sure the hatchbackdoor is fully closed, always try to pull it up again without using the outside handle.
