High pres-sure pump, rail, injectors and high pressure pipes are subject to high pressure even after the enginestopped. The fuel jet produced by fuel leaks may cause serious injury, if it touches the body. People usingpacemakers should not move closer than 30cm etc. to the ECU or wiring harness within the engine roomwhilst engine is running, since the high currents in the Common Rail system produce considerable mag-netic fields.

WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot since steam and boiling water may be ejected fromthe radiator resulting in burns or scalding.
6. If the cause of the overheating can- not be found, wait until the engine temperature has returned to normal. Then, if coolant has been lost, care-fully remove the radiator cap and add water to bring the fluid level in the reservoir up to the base of the radia-tor fill opening. Fill the coolant ex- pansion tank to the halfway mark. To ensure the correct water to cool-ant mix is obtained after top up, testing by an authorised repairer is required. 7. Proceed with caution until it is estab-
lished that the engine is operatingnormally. If the engine overheats repeatedly, the advice of a Hyundai authorised repairer should be sought.
CAUTION:
Serious loss of coolant indicatesthere is a leak in the cooling systemand this should be checked as soon as possible by a Hyundai authorised repairer.

o Automatic Transaxle Fluid The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP- III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid.

The engine oil and filter should be
changed at those intervals specified in the maintenance schedule in Section 5. If the car is being driven in severe conditions, more frequent oil and filter changes are required.
The procedure for changing the oil and
filter is as follows:
1. Park the car on level ground and set the parking brake. Start the engine and let it warm up until the needle on the coolant temperature gauge moves above the lowest mark. Turn the engine off and place the gear selector lever in "P" (automatic) or reverse gear (manual transaxle). 2. Open the bonnet and remove the
engine oil level dipstick.
3. Loosen the oil filter upper cap with a proper tool from the oil filter housing until an O-ring is seen. Then, drainthe oil completely.
CAUTION:
Slowly loosen the oil filter uppercap not to overflow the oil.

CAUTION:
Slowly pour the recommended oil into a funnel. Do not overfill to prevent engine to damage.!

If in doubt, contact the local authority for dis-posal instructions.

To Change the Coolant
The coolant should be changed at
those intervals specified in the vehicle maintenance schedule in Section 5.
NOTE: Care should be taken to ensure that
coolant is not allowed to spill onto the paintwork since the finish maybecome damaged. If coolant spill- age occurs, the affected area should be rinsed thoroughly with water.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground
and ensure that the parking brake is firmly applied, and the engine al- lowed to cool. Do not attempt this operation whilst the engine is hot since burning or scalding may result. 2. Prepare a suitable receptacle to
collect the displaced coolant and position this under the radiator drain tap.
3. With the heater temperature control set to the "HOT" position, removethe radiator cap and open the radia- tor drain tap.
4. When the engine coolant has drained completely, close the drain tap en-suring that this is not over tight- ened.
5. Prepare a suitable quantity of new engine coolant (refer to section 9)and pour this into the radiator.

To replace the air cleaner element, remove the air intake ducting from theair flow sensor body and unfasten the spring clips holding the air flow sensor top to the body.

6. Start the engine with the radiator cap still removed and continue to add coolant as the level decreases as air is expelled from the system.When the level remains constant, replace the radiator cap and replen- ish the coolant reservoir.

3. Confirm that the fluid level is in
“HOT” range on the level gauge. If the fluid level is lower, add the specified fluid from the fill hole. If the fluid level is higher, drain thefluid from the drain hole.
4. If the fluid level is checked in cold condition (fluid temperature 20~30°C (68~86°F)) add the fluid to “COLD” line and then recheck the fluid levelaccording to the above step 2. WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so thatyou are not injured by a rotating fan blade. o If battery electrolyte is spilled onto
skin or into eyes, the effected area must be flushed with copious amounts of water and medical as- sistance sought.
o If battery electrolyte is ingested, copious amounts of water or milkfollowed by an ant-acid (raw egg ormilk of magnesia) must be drunk. Vomiting should not be induced and medical assistance must be sought.
o Batteries must only be charged in
well ventilated areas from whichnaked lights or sources of sparks are excluded.
o Ensure that children, pets or other unauthorised persons are kept awayfrom batteries.
o Do not allow anything to bridge the positive (+) and negative (-) termi- nals of the battery.
o Never invert the battery.

Use extreme caution when working near theblades of the cooling fan so that you are not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem-perature decreases, the fan will au- tomatically shut off. This is a nor- mal condition.
The engine cooling fan should operate
before the temperature gauge reachesthe upper portion of the scale and thecondenser fan should operate when- ever the air conditioning is in use.

The power steering fluid level should be checked daily. To check the power steering fluid level, be sure the ignition is "OFF", thencheck to make certain that the power steering fluid level is between the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings onthe fluid reservoir. NOTE: Grinding noise from power steering pump may be heard immediately after the engine is started in ex-tremely cold condition (below -4°F). If the noise stops dur- ing warm up, there is no abnormalfunction in the system. This is due to a power steering fluid character- istic in extremely cold conditions.
FLUID RECOMMENDATION Only automatic transmission fluidmeeting the specification of PSF-3 or Dexron 2 should be used in the power steering system.
