NOTE: You can get the limp home pass- word when the vehicle is first deliv- ered to you. If you do not have thepassword, consult your authorized Hyundai dealer.
1. To set the password you may turn
the ignition key "ON" and then turn it "OFF" according to the digit num-bers, then the immobilizer indicator will blink along with the operation of the ignition key. For example, turnthe ignition key once for digit number "1", and twice for "2", and so on. However, for the digit number "0",you must turn the ignition key for 10 times.
2. Wait for 3~10 seconds.
3. You may set the remaining number of digits by following the same proce-dures 1 and 2.
4. If all of four digits have been tried successfully, turn the ignition key"ON" and check that the immobilizerindicator illuminates. From this time, you have to start your engine within 30 seconds. If you start your engineafter 30 seconds, your engine will not start.
B880D02A-GAT Limp Home Procedures In case the immobilizer warning indica- tor blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" position, this indicates that the immobilizer sys-tem is out of order. And you cannot start the engine without the limp home proce- dures with ignition key.The following procedure is how to start the engine with the function of the limp home. (0, 1, 2, 3 as a sample pass-word).

The key number should be recordedand kept in a safe place in case theneed to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundai dealer by quoting the relevant key num-ber. In the interest of security, the number tag attached to the keys which bearsthe key number should be removed from the key string after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key num-bers cannot be provided by Hyundai for security reasons. If you need additional keys or if youshould lose your keys, your authorized Hyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key number.

NOTE: If the engine dies while driving after limp home procedure, you can start your engine within 8 seconds with-out limp home procedure again.
5. If the immobilizer indicator blinks for five seconds, you have to try the limp home procedure again from the beginning.
After doing the limp home procedure,you have to consult with your autho-rized Hyundai dealer as soon as pos- sible.
! CAUTION:
o If you fail to try the limp home procedure with the sequence of three times, you have to wait for about one hour to do the limp home procedure again.
o If you cannot start your engine in spite of limp home procedure, haveyour vehicle towed by an autho-rized Hyundai dealer.

Locking and Unlocking Front Doors With a Key
WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked sothat the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doors willnot be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car incase of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident, the door is
unlocked automatically (If In-stalled). o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key
toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

In-deed, your province's laws may require that some or all occupants of the ve- hicle use seat belts.The possibility of injury or the severity of injury in an accident will be de- creased if this elementary safety pre-caution is observed. In addition, follow the other instructions provided in this section. B150B01Y-GAT Infant or Small Child Some countries require the use of child restraint systems for infants and small children. Whether this is required by lawor not, it is strongly recommended that a child restraint seat or infant restraint system be used for infants or smallchildren weighing less than 18 kilo- grams (40 pounds). NOTE: Small children are best protected in an accident when properly restrained by a child restraint system. B150C02A-AAT Larger Children Children who are too large for child restraint systems should always oc-cupy the rear seat and use the available lap/shoulder belts. The lap portion should be fastened snug on the hipsand as low as possible. Check belt fit periodically. A child's squirming could put the belt out of position. Children areafforded the most safety in the event of an accident when they are restrained by a proper restraint system in the rearseat. If a larger child (over age 13) must be seated in the front seat, the child should be securely restrained by theavailable lap/shoulder belt and the seat should be placed in the rearmost posi- tion. Children under the age of 13 shouldbe restrained securely in the rear seat. NEVER place a child under the age of 13 in the front seat. NEVER place a rearfacing child seat in the front seat of a vehicle.
B150D01A-AAT Pregnant Women The use of a seat belt is recommended for pregnant women to lessen the chanceof injury in an accident. When a seat belt is used, it should be placed as low and snugly as possible on the hips, notacross the abdomen. For specific rec- ommendations, consult a physician. B150E01A-AAT Injured Person A seat belt should be used when an injured person is being transported. When this is necessary, you shouldconsult a physician for recommenda- tions. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not beused because they may damage and weaken the fabric. B160D01A-AAT When to Replace Seat Belts Entire in-use seat belt assembly or assemblies should be replaced if the vehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. You can adjust the height of the shoul- der belt anchor to one of the 5 positions for maximum comfort and safety.If the height of the adjusting seat belt is too near your neck, you will not be getting the most effective protection.The shoulder portion should be ad- justed so that it lies across your chest and midway over your shoulder nearestthe door and not your neck. To adjust the height of the seat beltanchor, lower or raise the height ad-juster into an appropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. To lower it, push it down while pressing theheight adjuster button. Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad-juster to make sure that it has locked into the position.

CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM
B230A03A-GAT (If Installed) Children riding in the car should sit in the rear seat and must always be prop-erly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in an accident, sudden stop or sudden maneuver. According to acci-dent statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats than in the front seat. Larger childrennot in a child restraint should use one of the seat belts provided. You are required by law to use safetyrestraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and babies,a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits your car andseat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manu- facturer when installing the child re-straint system.

WARNING:
o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never in- stall a child or infant seat on the front passenger's seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger's airbag to deploy, it could severely injure orkill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Thus, only use a child restraint in the rear seat ofyour vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re-
straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat cover and buckles before placing a childthere.
o When the child restraint system is
not in use, store it in the trunk orfasten it with a safety belt so that it will not be thrown forward in the case of a sudden stop or an acci-dent.!o Children who are too large to be ina child restraint should sit in the rear seat and be restrained with the available lap/shoulder belts.Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat.
o Always make sure that the shoul-
der belt portion of the outboardlap/shoulder belt is positioned midway over the shoulder, neveracross the neck or behind the back. Moving the child closer to the center of the vehicle may helpprovide a good shoulder belt fit. The lap belt portion of the lap/ shoulder belt or the center seat lapbelt must always be positioned as low as possible on the child's hips and as snug as possible.
o If the seat belt will not properly fit the child, Hyundai recommendsthe use of an approved boosterseat in the rear seat in order to raise the child's seating height so that the seat belt will properly fitthe child.o Never allow a child to stand up or
kneel on the seat.
o Never use an infant carrier or child
safety seat that "hooks" over a seatback; it may not provide ad- equate security in an accident.
o Never allow a child to be held in a
person's arms while they are in amoving vehicle, as this could re- sult in serious injury to the childin the event of an accident or a sudden stop. Holding a child in a moving vehicle does not providethe child with any means of pro- tection during an accident, even if the person holding the child iswearing a seat belt.
o If the child restaint seat is not
anchored properly, the risk of achild being seriously injured or killed in a collision greatly in- creases.

After installation of the child restraint system, rock the child seat back andforth, and side to side to ensure that it is properly secured by the seat belt. If the child seat moves, readjust thelength of the seat belt. Then, if equipped, insert the child restraint tether strap hook into the child restraint hook holderand tighten to secure the seat. Always refer to the child restraint system manufacturer's recommendation beforeinstalling the child restraint system in your vehicle.
To install a child restraint system in the outboard rear seats, extend the shoul- der/lap belt from its retractor. Install thechild restraint system, buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to take up any slack. Make sure that the lap por-tion of the belt is tight around the child restraint system and the shoulder por- tion of the belt is positioned so that itcannot interfere with the child's head or neck.
