When unlocking the doors, the passen-
ger’s compartment lights will come on for
a preset time.
Button B should only be
pressed when the key is
away from the body, in particular
from the eyes and from objects that
can be spoilt (e.g. clothes). Make sure
the key can never be touched by oth-
ers, especially children, who may in-
advertently press the button.
WARNING
Dashboard led indications
When locking the doors, led A-fig. 6
switches on for about 3 seconds and than
starts flashing (deterrence function).
Once doors are locked, if one or more
doors or the tailgate are not closed cor-
rectly, the led and direction indicators
start flashing quickly.

The metal insert Ais retractable and it op-
erates:
❒the ignition switch;
❒the door locks.
❒fuel cap opening/closing (where pro-
vided).
To extract the metal insert, press button
B.
To refit it proceed as follows:
❒keep button Bpressed and move the
metal insert A;
❒release button Band turn the metal in-
sert Auntil hearing the proper lock-
ing click.

Door unlocking in the event
of a crash
In the event of a crash that triggers the fu-
el cut-off switch, the doors will unlock au-
tomatically to enable getting into the car
and at the same time the passenger’s com-
partment lights will turn on. It is howev-
er always possible to open the doors from
the passenger’s compartment by means of
the internal door handles.
If, after a crash no fuel leaks are found and
the car can be started again, reset the fu-
el cut-off switch as specified in the fol-
lowing paragraph. DOOR LOCK fig. 59
To lock all doors at the same time, press
button A, located on the central console
control panel, regardless of the position
of the ignition key.FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH
The car is fitted with a safety switch that
in the event of a crash comes into opera-
tion by cutting off fuel and turning off the
engine as a consequence.
This device therefore prevents fuel leaks
due to fuel piping breaking.
IMPORTANT After a crash, remember to
remove the electronic key from the igni-
tion switch to prevent battery run-down.
Fuel cut-off switch activation is indicated
by the message “FPS on” on the digital dis-
play.
On the multifunction display, the message
“Fuel cut-off switch on, see Handbook”
is displayed.

If, after a crash, you smell fu-
el or see leaks from the fuel
system, do not reset the switch to
avoid fine risk.
WARNING
If central door locking has
been activated from inside
the car and after a crash the fuel cut-
off switch cannot activate automatic
door unlocking, it will not be possible
to get into the car. In any case, door
opening from the outside depends on
door conditions after the crash: if a
door is badly damaged it will be im-
possible to open it. In this event try to
open one of the other doors.

Locking from the outside
With the doors closed, press the button

83will flash quickly for about 3 seconds.
With this function active it is however pos-
sible to open the other doors by pressing
button A-fig. 83on the central console.Pressing twice briefly the button
Áon the
remote control fig. 81 will engage the
dead lock device (see paragraph “Dead
lock device”).

Door locking/unlocking from the
inside
Press button A-fig. 83to lock/ unlock all
the doors. The button has a led showing
the door condition (locked or unlocked).
When doors are locked the button led is
on and pressing the button will obtain cen-
tral unlocking of the doors and turning off
of the led. When doors are unlocked, the
button led is off and pressing the button
will obtain central locking of the doors.
Door locking is activated only if all the
doors are perfectly closed.

After locking doors by:
❒remote control;
❒door revolving plug;
it will not be possible to unlock the doors
by pressing button

IMPORTANT With central locking system
on, pulling the internal door handle of one
of the front doors will unlock that door.
Pulling the internal door handle of one of the
rear doors will unlock the relevant door.
Lacking power (blown fuse, battery discon-
nected, etc.) it is however possible to lock
the doors manually.
After exceeding 20 km/h speed, doors will
be locked automatically if the set up menu
function has been selected (see paragraph
“Multifunction display” in this section).
Once the dead lock device
has been actuated, doors
cannot be opened from the passen-
ger’s compartment in any way what-
soever. For this reason, make sure
there are no person left inside the car.
If the battery of the key with remote
control is down, the dead lock device
can be deactivated only by fitting the
metal insert of the key in both front
door revolving plugs as described pre-
viously: in this case the dead lock de-
vice will stay engaged only on the rear
doors. DEAD LOCK DEVICE

This safety device enables to inhibit:
❒door internal handles;
❒locking/unlocking button A-fig. 83;
thus hindering doors opening from inside
the passenger’s compartment in case of at-
tempt to break-into (e.g.: window breaking).
The dead lock device guarantees the best
protection against unwanted access.
Therefore, it should be actuated every
time the car is parked and left unattended.Device activation
The dead lock device is automatically ac-
tivated on every door when pressing twice
briefly the remote control button

Device activation is indicated by 3 flashing
of direction indicators and flashing of the
button led A-fig. 83located on the dash-
board.
If one of the doors is not perfectly closed,
the dead lock device will not activate, thus
preventing that a person getting into the car
from the open door remains blocked inside
the passenger’s compartment when she/he
closes the door.
Device deactivation
The device is deactivated automatically on
every door in the following cases:
❒when opening the driver’s door using the
key without remote control;
❒when unlocking doors using the remote
control;
❒turning the ignition key to MAR.

Rear doors are fitted with an emergency
device to lock doors when lacking current.
In this event, proceed as follows:
❒fit the ignition key into the revolving
plug B;
❒turn the device from position 2 to po-
sition 1 and then close.
When the device is active, to open the
rear doors use the internal doors handles.

Always use this device when
transporting children.
WARNING
After engaging the child lock
on both rear doors, check for
proper engagement by trying to open
a rear door with the internal handle.

Do not activate the child
safety lock device if the rear
door emergency lock device has been
activated yet.
If both safety devices are active: to
open the door again, operate the in-
ternal handle to deactivate the rear
door emergency lock device and
then open the door using the exter-
nal handle.

totally extended splitting the rear seat.
Proceed as follows:
❒lower completely the rear seat head re-
straints;
❒ check that the seat belt is not twisted;❒tilt cushions as shown by the arrow fig.

respectively the left or right section of
the backrest and then guide the back-
rest onto the cushion.
The boot extension to the right makes it
possible to carry two passengers on the
rear seat left-hand side. The boot exten-

side.
