the fuel circuit may cause
serious damage to the en-
tire injection system and cause ir-

lieved. If the above indications
come on immediately after refu-
elling, water has probably been
poured into the tank: turn the en-
gine off immediately and contact
Fiat Dealership.

If with the engine running the warn-

Engine oil pressure sensor
failure
The warning light comes on when
the engine oil pressure sensor is faulty.
Contact Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible.
On certain versions the dedicated
message is displayed.
Speed limit exceeded
The display will show the dedicated
message when the vehicle exceeds the
set speed limit (see “Reconfigurable
Multifunction Display” in this section).
On certain versions the dedicated
message is displayed. The failure referring to these lights
could be: one or more blown bulbs,
a blown protection fuse or an electric
connection cut-off.
On certain versions the dedicated
message is displayed; symbols

indicate respectively the left / right
side.

when the rear fog lights are
turned on.

LOOKING AFTER
THE SYSTEM
During the winter, the climate con-
trol system must be turned on at least
once a month for about ten minutes.
Have the system efficiency checked
before the summer at a Fiat Deal-
ership.STEERING COLUMN
STALKS
LEFT-HAND STALK
The left-hand stalk operates most of
the external lights.
The external lights can only be
switched on when the ignition key is
at MAR. The instrument panel and
the heating/ventilation (or climate con-
trol system) controls and the cigar
lighter ring will come on with the ex-
ternal lights.
The system is filled with
R134a refrigerant which
will not pollute the envi-
ronment in the event of leakage.
Under no circumstances should
R12 fluid be used as it is incom-
patible with the system compo-
nents and contains CFC.

The rear fog lights are switched off
either by pressing C or switching on
the main beam headlights or turning
the ignition key to STOP. You will
need to switch the rear foglights back
on, if required, when the dipped beam
headlights and/or front foglights are
switched on or when the engine is
started again.
FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH
This safety switch is located under
the dashboard on the right-hand side
and can be reached through the slot
as shown in fig. 94, It comes into op-
eration in the case of an accident to
block the supply of fuel thereby stop-
ping the engine.Press button Ato reactivate the fu-
el supply system if you cannot see any
fuel leaks and the vehicle is in a fit state
to continue its journey.
Remember to turn the ignition key
to STOPto avoid running the battery

Some suggestions which may help
you to keep the running costs of the
vehicle down and lower the amount
of toxic emissions released into the at-
mosphere are given below.
GENERAL
CONSIDERATIONS
Vehicle maintenance
The overall state of the vehicle is an
important factor which has a marked
influence over fuel consumption and
driving comfort and on the life span of
your vehicle. For this reason care
should be taken to maintain your ve-
hicle by carrying out the necessary
checks and regulations in accordance
with the specifications given in the
SERVICE SCHEDULE (see sections:
spark plugs, idling, air cleaners, diesel
fuel filter, timing).Tyres
Tyre pressure should be checked at
least once every four weeks: if the
pressure is too low fuel consumption
increases as the resistance to the
rolling movement of the tyre is
greater. In this state, tyre wear is in-
creased and handling suffers which will
effect safety.
Unnecessary loads
Do not travel with too much load in
the boot. The weight of the vehicle
and its trim greatly effects consump-
tion and stability.
Roof rack/ski rack
Remove the roof rack or the ski rack
from the roof as soon as they are no
longer used.
These accessories reduce the aero-
dynamic penetration of the vehicle and
will increase consumption. Whentransporting particularly large objects,
use a trailer, where possible.
Electric devices
Use electric devices for the neces-
sary time only. The heated rear win-
dow, fog lights, windscreen wipers,
heater fan require large amounts of
electricity and increasing the request
for power will also increase fuel con-
sumption (up to +25% when driving in
towns).
Climate control system
The climate control system is an ad-
ditional load which greatly effects the
engine leading to higher consumption
(up to +20% in average). When the
temperature outside allows, use the
air vents where possible.
Aerodynamic accessories
The use of non-certified aerodynamic
items may adversely affect air drag and
consumption levels.
