Sound the horn as you approach the top of the
hill to let opposing traffic know you are there.
Use the headlamps even during the day. They
make you more visible to oncoming traffic.
{CAUTION:
Driving to the top (crest) of a hill at full
speed can cause an accident. There could
be a drop-off, embankment, cliff, or even
another vehicle. You could be seriously
injured or killed. As you near the top of a
hill, slow down and stay alert.
Q:What should I do if my vehicle stalls, or
is about to stall, and I cannot make it up
the hill?
A:If this happens, there are some things you
should do, and there are some things you
must not do? First, here is what youshoulddo:
Push the brake pedal to stop the vehicle
and keep it from rolling backwards. Also, apply
the parking brake.
If the engine is still running, shift the
transmission to REVERSE (R), release the
parking brake, and slowly back down the hill in
REVERSE (R).
If the engine has stopped running, you will need
to restart it. With the brake pedal pressed and
the parking brake still applied, shift the
transmission to PARK (P) and restart the
engine. Then shift to REVERSE (R), release
the parking brake, and slowly back down the hill
as straight as possible in REVERSE (R).
As you are backing down the hill, put your left
hand on the steering wheel at the 12 o’clock
position. This way you will be able to tell if the
wheels are straight and maneuver as you back
down. It is best that you back down the hill with
the wheels straight rather than in the left or right
direction. Turning the wheel too far to the left or
right will increase the possibility of a rollover.

4. Press the set/reset button. The horn will
sound twice to indicate the TPMS receiver
is ready, and the TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE
message will display.
5. Start with the driver’s side front tire.
6. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap
stem. Activate the TPMS sensor by
increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure
for ve seconds, or until a horn chirp
sounds. The horn chirp, which make take up
to 30 seconds to sound, con rms that the
sensor identi cation code has been matched
to this tire and wheel position. To decrease
air-pressure out of a tire you can use the
pointed end of the valve cap, a pencil-style air
pressure gage, or a key.
7. Proceed to the passenger’s side front tire, and
repeat the procedure in Step 6.
8. Proceed to the passenger’s side rear tire, and
repeat the procedure in Step 6.9. Proceed to the driver’s side rear tire, and
repeat the procedure in Step 6.
10. After hearing the con rming horn chirp for the
driver’s side rear tire, the horn chirp will sound
two more times to signal the tire learning
mode is no longer active. Turn the ignition
switch to LOCK.
11. Set all four tires to the recommended air
pressure level as indicated on the Tire
and Loading Information label.
12. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.
The spare tire does not have a TPMS sensor.
If you replace one of the road tires with the spare,
the SERVICE TIRE MONITOR message will be
displayed on the DIC screen. This message should
go off once you re-install the road tire containing
the TPMS sensor.
