Reclining Seatbacks
{CAUTION:
You can lose control of the vehicle if you
try to adjust a manual driver’s seat while
the vehicle is moving. The sudden
movement could startle and confuse you,
or make you push a pedal when you do
not want to. Adjust the driver’s seat only
when the vehicle is not moving.
{CAUTION:
If the seatback is not locked, it could
move forward in a sudden stop or crash.
That could cause injury to the person
sitting there. Always push and pull on the
seatback to be sure it is locked.Your seats have manual reclining seatbacks.
The lever used to operate them is located on the
outboard side of the seats.
To recline the seatback, do the following:
1. Lift the recline lever.
2. Move the seatback to the desired position,
then release the lever to lock the seatback
in place.
3. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it
is locked.

PASS-Key®III Operation
Your vehicle is equipped
with PASS-Key®III
(Personalized
Automotive Security
System) theft-deterrent
system.
PASS-Key
®III is a passive theft-deterrent system.
This means nothing special needs to be done
to arm or disarm the system. It works when the key
is inserted or removed from the ignition.
PASS-Key III
®uses a transponder in the ignition
key that matches a decoder in the vehicle.
When the PASS-Key
®III system senses that the
wrong key has been inserted into the ignition, it
shuts down the vehicle’s starter and fuel systems. The starter will not work and fuel will stop owing to
the engine. If someone tries to start the vehicle
again with the wrong key, the vehicle will not start.
Anyone using a trial-and-error method to start the
vehicle will be discouraged to do so because of the
high number of electrical key codes.
When trying to start the vehicle, if the engine does
not start and the STARTING DISABLED warning
message on the Driver Information Center
(DIC) comes on, the key may have a damaged
transponder. Turn the ignition off and try again.
If the engine still does not start, and the key
appears to be undamaged, try another ignition
key. At this time, you may also want to check the
fuse. SeeFuses and Circuit Breakers on
page 450. If the engine still does not start with the
other key, the vehicle needs service. If the
vehicle does start, the rst key may be faulty. See
your dealer who can service the PASS-Key
®III
to have a new key made. In an emergency,
contact Roadside Assistance. SeeRoadside
Assistance Program on page 484for more
information.

Turn Signal/Multifunction Lever
The lever on the left side of the steering column
includes the following:
GTurn and Lane Change Signals. See
Turn and Lane-Change Signals on page 152.
2Headlamp High/Low-Beam Changer.
SeeHeadlamp High/Low-Beam Changer
on page 153.
Flash-to-Pass. SeeFlash-to-Pass on page 153.
NWindshield Wipers. SeeWindshield Wipers
on page 153.
LQWindshield Washer. SeeWindshield
Washer on page 154.
For information on the headlamps, seeExterior
Lamps on page 158.
Turn and Lane-Change Signals
To signal a turn, move the lever up or down.
The lever returns to its original position when the
turn is completed.
An arrow on the
instrument panel
cluster will ash in the
direction of the turn or
lane change.
To signal a lane change, raise or lower the lever
until the arrow starts to ash. Hold it there until the
lane change is completed. The lever will return
to its original position when released.
Arrows that ash rapidly when signaling for a turn
or lane change, or that fail to work, may indicate
a burned-out signal bulb or fuse. Other drivers will
not see the signal. SeeFront Turn Signal and
Parking Lamps on page 397andTaillamps, Turn
Signal, Sidemarker, Stoplamps and Back-up
Lamps on page 398for turn signal bulb
replacement procedures. Also seeFuses and
Circuit Breakers on page 450for location of fuses.
A chime will sound if the turn signal is left on
for more than 3/4 mile (1.2 km).

Accessory Power Outlet(s)
The accessory power outlets enable power
electrical equipment such as a cellular telephone
or a CB radio to be used inside the vehicle.
Your vehicle has 12-volt outlets. One outlet is
located on the center console below the climate
controls. There may be another outlet located
inside the center storage console or in the ip and
fold console.
Open the cover to use the outlet. Be sure to close
the cover when the outlet is not in use.
Notice:Adding any electrical equipment to
your vehicle may damage it or keep other
components from working as they should. The
repairs would not be covered by your warranty.
Do not use equipment exceeding maximum
amperage rating of 20 amperes. Check with
your dealer before adding electrical equipment.Certain power accessory plugs may not be
compatible to the power accessory outlet and
could result in blown vehicle or adapter fuses.
If you experience a problem, see your dealer.
Notice:Improper use of the power outlet can
cause damage not covered by your warranty.
Do not hang any type of accessory or
accessory bracket from the plug because the
power outlets are designed for accessory
power plugs only.
Notice:Leaving electrical equipment plugged
in for an extended period of time while the
vehicle is off will drain the battery. Power is
always supplied to the outlets. Always unplug
electrical equipment when not in use and
do not plug in equipment that exceeds
the maximum 20 ampere rating.
When adding electrical equipment, be sure to
follow the proper installation instructions included
with the equipment.

Ashtray(s) and Cigarette Lighter
Your vehicle may have a removable ashtray and
cigarette lighter. The cigarette lighter may be
located under the climate control system.
The removable ashtray can be placed into the
front console cupholder.
Notice:If you put papers, pins, or other
ammable items in the ashtray, hot cigarettes
or other smoking materials could ignite
them and possibly damage your vehicle.
Never put ammable items in the ashtray.
To use the cigarette lighter, push it in all the way,
and let go. When the heating element is ready,
it will pop back out by itself.
Notice:Holding a cigarette lighter in while it is
heating will not allow the lighter to back away
from the heating element when it is hot. Damage
from overheating may occur to the lighter or
heating element, or a fuse could be blown. Do
not hold a cigarette lighter in while it is heating.
Do not use equipment exceeding maximum
amperage rating of 20 amperes.
Climate Controls
Climate Control System
With this system you can control the heating,
cooling and ventilation for your vehicle.
If your vehicle has the remote start feature and
it is activated, the climate control system will
automatically cool the vehicle if the temperature is
greater than 90°F (32°C) and heat the vehicle if the
temperature is below 37°F (3°C). If the temperature
is between 37°F (3°C) and 90°F (32°C), the last
control setting selected when the engine was
running will be used. Normal operation and the last
setting of the climate control system will return after
the key is turned to the RUN position.

Oil Pressure Light
Your vehicle may have
this feature.
If the vehicle has an oil problem, this light may
stay on after the engine is started, or come
on while you are driving.
This light indicates that oil is not going through the
engine quickly enough to keep it lubricated. The
engine could be low on oil or could have some
other oil problem. Have it xed right away.
The oil light could also come on in the following
situations:
The light will come on brie y when the ignition
is turned on to show that it is working properly.
If it does not come on with the ignition on,
there may be a problem with the fuse or bulb.
Have it xed right away.
Sometimes when the engine is idling at a
stop, a chime will sound and the light may
blink on and off. This is normal.
{CAUTION:
Do not keep driving if the oil pressure is
low. If you do, your engine can become so
hot that it catches re. You or others could
be burned. Check your oil as soon as
possible and have your vehicle serviced.
Notice:Lack of proper engine oil maintenance
may damage the engine. The repairs would
not be covered by your warranty. Always follow
the maintenance schedule in this manual for
changing engine oil.
