No person or object must prevent
the seat slide from returning to its
initial position; return to this posi-
tion is necessary for the seat to
lock in place.
Take care not to trap the seat belt
to avoid hindering the passage of
the rear passengers.
4. Access to rear seats
(3 door)
Pull the handle to fold the seat back
and move the seat forwards. On re-
positioning, the seat returns to its
initial position. 5. Head restraint height and angle
a d j u s t m e n t
To raise the head restraint, pull it up-
wards.
To remove the head restraint, press
the lug A and pull the head restraint
upwards.
To put the head restraint back in po-
sition, locate the stems of the head
restraint in the holes, taking care to
keep them in line with the seat back.
To lower the head restraint, press
the lug A and the head restraint at
the same time.
To tilt the head restraint, tilt the low-
er part forwards or rearwards. The head restraint has a frame with
a notch which prevents the head
restraint from lowering; this is a
safety device which provides pro-
tection in the event of an impact.

the upper edge of the head
restraint is level with the top of
the head.
Never drive with the head restraints
removed; they must be in place and
correctly adjusted.

STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
The height and depth of the steering
wheel can be adjusted to adapt the driv-
ing position to the size of the driver.
A d j u s t m e n t
When stationary , pull the control to
unlock the steering wheel.
Adjust the height and depth.
Push the control to lock the steering
wheel.
As a safety precaution, it is impera-
tive that these operations are carried
out while the vehicle is stationary.
SUN VISOR
Component which protects against
sunlight from the front or the side, also
equipped with an illuminated courtesy
mirror.
With the ignition on, raise the con-
c e a l i n g l a p ; t h e m i r r o r i s l i t a u t o m a t -
ically.
This sun visor is also equipped with a
ticket holder.
TOLL CARD / CAR PARK
TICKET WINDOWS
F a c i l i t y f o r a f i x i n g t o l l c a r d s a n d / o r c a r
park tickets.
These windows are located on each
side of the base of the interior mirror.
T h e y a r e t w o n o n - r e l e c t i v e a r e a s o f t h e
athermic windscreen.
The athermic windscreen limits
heating of the passenger compart-
ment by reducing the effects of the
sun's rays (ultra-violet). It consists
o f a r e l e c t i v e l a y e r , w h i c h a l s o
blocks certain radio-electric signals
(toll card payments, ...).

STATIC DIRECTIONAL
LIGHTING
When the dipped or main beam head-
lamps are on, this function enables the
beam to light the inside of the turn with an
additional angle of approximately 30°.
The use of this lighting is optimum
above all at low and average speed

Switching on
The system is switched on from a cer-
tain speed and a certain angle of rota-
tion of the steering wheel.
Operating fault The function is activated or
deactivated via the multi-

In the event of a malfunction,

Switching off

certain angle of rotation of the steering

It is switched off when reverse gear is
engaged.

road users, the height of the headlamps
should be adjusted in relation to the
load in the vehicle.

SEAT BELTS Height adjustment

Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
To lower the attachment point,
squeeze control A and slide it down-
wards.
To raise the attachment point, slide
control A upwards.
When the ignition is switched on,
this warning light comes on on
the instrument panel if the driver *
and/or the front passenger has
not fastened his seat belt.
Above approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)
and for two minutes, this warning light
l a s h e s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e s i g -
nal of increasing volume. When the two
minutes have elapsed, this warning light
remains on until the driver * and/or the
front passenger fastens his seat belt.

Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e i t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of front impacts. De-
pending on the severity of the impact,
the pretensioning system instantly tight-
ens the seat belts against the body of
the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt on the chest of the oc-
cupant, increasing his protection.
On the 5-door and GTi versions, a slider,
i t t e d o n t h e s e a t b e l t , m a k e s i t p o s s i b l e
to support the buckle as close as pos-
sible to the strap return.

Maximum authorised weight on the
roof rack, for a loading height not ex-
ceeding 40 cm (with the exception of
bicycle carriers): 65 kg.
If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt
the speed of the vehicle to the pro-
i l e o f t h e r o a d t o a v o i d d a m a g i n g t h e
r o o f b a r s a n d t h e i x i n g s o n t h e r o o f .
Be sure to refer to national legis-
lation in order to comply with the
regulations for transporting objects
which are longer than the vehicle.
FITTING ROOF BARS (SW)
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer for the in-
stallation of longitudinal roof bars.
W h e n i t t i n g t r a n s v e r s e r o o f b a r s , e n -
sure that they are positioned correctly
as shown by marks on the longitudinal
roof bars.
Use accessories recommended by
PEUGEOT and follow the accessory
m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s i t t i n g i n s t r u c t i o n s .
In order to place a load on the roof, your
v e h i c l e m u s t b e i t t e d w i t h l o n g i t u d i n a l
r o o f b a r s w i t h t r a n s v e r s e r o o f b a r s i t t e d
on top of these.
The longitudinal roof bars cannot be re-
moved.
Maximum authorised weight on the roof
bars, for a loading height not exceeding
40 cm (except bicycle carriers): 75 kg.
If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt
the speed of the vehicle to the con-
dition of the road, to avoid damag-
i n g t h e r o o f b a r s a n d t h e i x i n g s o n
the roof.
Please refer to national legislation
to comply with the regulations re-
garding the transportation of objects
which are longer than the vehicle.
Lashing the straps through the ends
of the longitudinal roof bars is pro-
hibited.
