ABS system
The ABS system enhances your safety by preventing the wheels from locking in the event of sudden braking or in conditions of poor road adherence. It enables you to retain control of the steering.
The functioning capability of all the electrical components essential to the ABS is monitored electronically before and during your journey. The ABS warning lamp lights up when you switch on the ignition: it should go out after a few seconds.
If the monitoring warning lamp does not go out, that means that the ABS has disconnected because there is a fault. Also, the fact that the monitoring warning lamp comes on durin g the journey shows that the ABS system is inactive. System of emergency braking assistance
(For vehicles with the ABS system)
The emergency braking assistance system helps you to attain the requ ired braking pressure more rapidly, thus to reduce the stopping distance. It operates as a function of the speed of action on the brake pedal, decreasing the resistance to this action. To prolong this action of the emerg ency braking assistance system, simply keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Emergency braking or sudden deceleration automatically operates th e hazard warning lamps. They will cease to operate automatically, or manually if you press the hazard lamps button on the dashboard.

This system is associated with the ABS and in addition to the ABS. In the event of a loss of control of the vehicle by the driver, the ESP system acts automati-cally on one or more wheels and also on the engine to bring the vehicle back on trajectory.
Operation

Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (vehicle stuck in snow, soft ground, etc.) it may prove useful to deactivate the ESP systems to allow the wheels to spi n and thus regain traction.Press button A.The warning lamp associated with control A (ESP Off) lights up, as does the ESP warning lamp on the instrument panel.
The ESP system is no longer active.
The ESP system reactivates:Automatically after the ignition has been switched off.

Access to the spare wheel
To access the spare wheel
Lift the boot carpet.
Remove the jack- holder to access the wheel.
Tools
The tools are located in a protective holder in the spare wheel. Pull back the retaining strap to have access.
To reposition the spare wheel
Return the wheel to the boot, place the toolbox inside the wheel, then secure using the strap.
Advice
T h e w h e e l b o l t s a r e s p e c i fi c t o t h e t y p e o f w h e e l .
If the type of wheel is changed, check with your CITROËN dea ler that the wheel bolts are compatible with the new wheels.
T h e j a c k a n d a l l t h e t o o l s a r e d e s i g n e d s p e c i fi c a l l y f o r u s e o n your particular vehicle.
Do not use them for any other applications.
With a spare wheel, drive cautiously.

Removal1. P a r k t h e v e h i c l e o n s t a b l e , fi r m g r o u n d t h a t i s n o t s l i p p e r y . A p p l y t h e parking brake. S w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r o r r e v e r s e g e a r , d e p e n d i n g on any slope.2. Position the jack at one of the four jacking-points provided on the sub-frame close to the wheels. Using the handle, unwind the jack until it reaches the ground.3. To unclip the wheel embellisher, pull using the end of the wheelbrace as a lever in one of the apertures.For vehicles with aluminium wheel rims:With a central embellisher, remove the embellisher, using the tool, to access the bolts.With wheel bolts visible, simply undo them.4. Continue to extend the jack until the wheel is a few centimetres off the ground.5. Undo the other bolts, remove the wheel.

R e fi t t i n g1. Engage the wheel on the hub.2. Screw in the bolts but do not fully tighten them.3. Lower the jack and remove it.4. Tighten the wheel bolts, using the wheelbrace.5. For vehicles equipped with aluminium rims, r e fi t t h e w h e e l b o l t p r o t e c t o r s .6. Have the original wheel r e p a i r e d a n d r e fi t t e d a s s o o n as possible.7. Make sure that the tyre is at the correct pressure (see “ V e h i c l e I d e n t i fi c a t i o n ” a n d “User Precautions”) and have the wheel balancing checked.
Dimension of the spare wheel
If your spare wheel has dimen-sions different from those of the n o r m a l v e h i c l e w h e e l s ( i d e n t i fi e d by a label), it is imperative to use the spare wheel only temporarily, to drive with caution, not to exceed 8 0 k m / h ( 5 0 m p h ) a n d t o h a v e t h e tyre repaired and the normal wheel r e fi t t e d a s s o o n a s p o s s i b l e .
Tyre pressures
This is indicated on the label on the f r o n t d o o r p i l l a r . S e e “ V e h i c l e i d e n - t i fi c a t i o n ” a n d “ U s e r P r e c a u t i o n s ” .
Light alloy wheels
If your vehicle has light alloy wheel rims but a steel spare wheel, if you fi t t h e l a t t e r i t i s n o r m a l t o n o t i c e that the wheel bolts do not appear to contact on the rim.
The spare wheel is secured by the conical tapering of the wheel bolt’s shaft (See illustration).
w h e n r e fi t t i n g t h e l i g h t a l l o y w h e e l , make sure that the tapering contact faces of the wheel bolts are clean and in good condition.
Never get underneath the vehicle if it is supported only by the jack.
When changing a wheel, it is essential to park the vehicle safely on level and stable ground.

Towing with wheels on the ground

To access them:Carefully lift the access cover.
Release it by pressing on the lower part.
A lug keeps the cover attached to the bumper, so that it do es not become lost.
The ignition key must be in position M to retain steering.
Use a bar with attachments to the towing eyes as above.
