Remote central locking and sideview
mirror memory
If you lock the car and later unlock it with the
same remote control and open the driver’s
door, the sideview mirrors will automatically
move to the position they were in when you
left the car. This feature will work in the same
way with all of the remote control transmitters
(up to 3) that you use with your car.

way (key in driver's door and/or
remote control) and also by using the
key in the tailgate.
•Both rear seat backrests must be up
when the auxiliary seat is being used.
•Do not use a booster cushion or child

master keys and a service key. The master key,
the remote control, and the central locking
button may all be used to lock and unlock all
of your car’s locks.
The service key operates the driver’s door and
the ignition switch. It will also fit the tailgate
lock cylinder on models outfitted with a
factory installed third seat. The service key is
intended to help deter unwanted entry into the
glove compartment. $

Immobilizer (start inhibitor)
Each of the keys supplied with your car
contains a coded transmitter. The code in the
key is transmitted to an antenna in the ignition
switch where it is compared to the code stored
in the start inhibitor module. The car will start
only with a properly coded key.

Each key has a unique code, which your Volvo
retailer uses if new keys are required. A
maximum of six remote controls/keys can be
programmed and used for one car.
If you misplace a key, take the other keys to an
authorized Volvo retailer for reprogramming as
an antitheft measure.

The transmitters will also activate or allow
“keyless” entry into the passenger compart-

The car can also be locked/unlocked with the
key.
If one of the transmitters is misplaced, contact

Hand-held transmitter
HomeLink® Universal Transceiver
HomeLink® is an advanced system that can be programmed to learn the
codes of three different remote controlled-devices (e.g., garage door
openers, remote lighting, entry door lock). HomeLink®’s sun visor-
mounted transceiver, powered by your car’s electrical system, may then
be used in place of your hand-held remote controls.

WARNING!
•If you use HomeLink® to open a garage door or gate, be sure no
one is near the gate or door while it is in motion.
•Do not use the HomeLink® Universal Transceiver with any garage
door opener that lacks safety “stop” and “reverse” features as
required by federal safety standards. (This includes any garage door
opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982). A garage door
opener that cannot “detect” an object, signalling the door to “stop”
and “reverse” does not meet current federal safety standards. Using
a garage door opener without these features increases the risk of
serious injury or death. For more information on this matter, call
toll-free 1-800-355-3515 (Internet: www.HomeLink.com).
