SEAT maintenance program
8SEAT maintenance programUsing these instructionsThis programme will indicate the work that should be pe riodically carried out
on your vehicle in order to maintain the safety, reliability and lifetime condi-
tions required.
Using the “vehicle identification” data or the data in this document, the
correct spare parts for your vehicle will be specified in ca se of repairs; even
many years following the initial purchase.
We recommend that you keep this maintenance programme with the vehicle
documents. The Proof of service is one of the fundamental r equirements for
warranty rights.
The maintenance programme shows the date of delive ry and this indicates
the beginning of the vehicle guarantee.Maintenance ProgramThe SEAT maintenance programme is composed of di fferent inspection serv-
ices carried out according to the time since the vehi cle purchase or the
mileage.
Each Inspection Service as well as an y required additional operation already
has a pre-established work time. This will allow you to know the total cost of
the service beforehand.
. The SEAT Service Centre network is equipped with modern technology and
well-trained specialists. Many SEAT Service Centres offer different value
service packages
Adverse weather conditionsThe Service Centre “service consultant” will inform you of any necessary addi-
tional work within the intervals defined by the Inspection Ser vice depending
on the conditions and the environment in which the vehicle is used. For
example, for an oil change where the vehicle is use d only for frequent short
journeys or is subject to extreme temperatures. Likewis e, when the vehicle is
used in dusty conditions the air, dust and pollen filter cartridges must be
changed more often and the timing belt checked.Diesel fuelThe Service Centre “service consultant” can provide inf ormation about which
countries use fuel with a high sulphur content. In th ese cases, the oil must be
changed every 7,500 km.
Caution
•
Vehicles with the label “UNSUITABLE FOR BIODIESEL” on th e fuel cover
cannot be driven using biodiesel.
•
To be certain if your vehicle can be used with biodiesel according to the
DIN EN 14214 (FAME) standard consult your Serv ice Centre.
•
DIN is a German abbreviation for “Deutsches Institut für Normug e.V.”, the
German standards institute.
•
EN means European Norm.
•
FAME is the English abbreviation “F atty Acid Methyl Ester”

There may be different specific “additional work” dependin g on the vehicle
use or the time since the first delivery date. For example:•
Distribution belt change (depending on the mileage).
•
Brake fluid change (every 2 years).
Inspection Service every 15,000 km or once a yearOperations to be completed on your vehicle•
Label “Next Service”: Note the date, mileage and atta ch it to the door
frame.
•
Engine oil and oil filter: Replacement.
•
Front and rear brake pads: Inspection.
•
Service interval indicator on the instrument panel: Re set.
•
Tyres, including the spare wheel: Check the profile, tread wear indicator
and pressure.
•
Interior and glove compartment lighti ng, lighter/socket, warning lights
and horn: Check operation.
•
Front/rear boot lights, indicators and hazard lights: Check operation.
•
Windscreen and headlights washer system: Check oper ation and for
possible damage, top up.
•
Exhaust gases installation: Verify attachments and ch eck for leaks and
damage.
Inspection Service every 30,000 km or every 2 yearsOperations to be completed on your vehicle:•

Other services availableLegal Inspection ServiceThe legal inspections must be carried out at the intervals
prescribed.Many countries have legal requirements obliging owner s to have their vehicle
tested at specified intervals with regards to securit y and operation as well as
the exhaust gas composition. These revisions must be o verseen by officially
authorised centres.
Your Authorised Service Centre can inform you about the o bligatory legally
required inspections and can revise your vehicle within t he framework of an
Interval Inspection Service. This will save both time and money.
The Authorised Service Centre can also carry out the oblig atory inspections at
the request of the client.
Even if you do not wish to take advantage of this service and dec ide to take
your car to an officially authorised centre for revision, we recommend
speaking to the person in charge of your Authori sed Service Centre first.
This person will be able to tell you if any points need att ention so that your
car does not fail the test and have to be re-tested.Approved spare partsAll parts of your vehicle have been approved by SEAT , especially those parts
relating directly to security. For this reason, the part s used in the Programmed
Inspection Services or in any vehicle repair must corresp ond exactly to the
manufacturer-defined requirements. Approved SEA T spare parts have been designed especially for your vehicle.
Thus we recommend the use of
approved SEAT spares always.
In the SEAT Authorised Service Centres you will find the most frequently used
SEAT approved spare parts. If, exceptionally, the necessar y parts are not in
stock, in general, they can be obtained rapidly.
The SEAT Service Centres in the EU provide a 24 month guar antee
1) with Orig-
inal Spare parts from the date they are fitted or sold. T hus, it will be conven-
ient to conserve the original invoice from the Auth orised Service Centre as
proof of the existing warranty.
More information about this may be obtained form yo ur Authorised Service
Centre.
Approved SEAT spare partsThe approved spare parts, according to the manufact urer specifications,
represent an additional available service and facili tating the replacement of
entire assemblies, in general: lighte r engine, gearbox, cylinder heads,
control units, electric elements, etc.
Of course these are Approved parts and, as they have the same class as the
manufacturer parts, they avail of the same SEAT ap proved spare parts
warranty.
However, these parts are considerably cheaper as they are f actory-recondi-
tioned used parts. Conserve the invoice for SEAT exchange parts as proof of
the start of the existing warranty.1)The warranty is not available for all export mar kets. For information, please ask for in-
formation at the SEAT Authorised Service Centre.
