Good visibility
Roller sunblind* in the rear doors
Pull the roller sunblind out using the
hooks.

Attach the hooks at the top.
Rear window defroster
The rear window defroster uses a large
amount of power. To keep the battery
drain to a minimum, switch off the defrost-
er as soon as the rear window is clear. The
defroster is automatically deactivated af-
ter approximately 6 to 17 minutes of oper-
ation depending on the outside
temperature.
Activating

the respective climate control panel.
The indicator lamp on the button
comes on.Deactivating

Press buttonF or1 again.
The indicator lamp on the button goes
out.
!Always guide the sunblind by hand. Do
not let it snap back, as the retractor
could be damaged.
Warning!

Any accumulation of snow and ice should be
removed from the rear window before driv-
ing. Visibility could otherwise be impaired,
endangering you and others.!If the rear window defroster switches
off too soon and the indicator lamp
starts flashing, this means that too
many electrical consumers are operat-
ing simultaneously and there is insuffi-
cient voltage in the battery. The system
responds automatically by deactivating
the rear window defroster.
As soon as the battery has sufficient
voltage, the rear window defroster au-
tomatically turns itself back on.

If the weather is warm, you can ventilate
the vehicle before driving off by simulta-
neously:

opening the side windows


opening the tilt/sliding sunroof* or
tilt/sliding panel*


turning on the seat ventilation* for the
driver’s seat

Aim transmitter eye of the SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO* at the
driver’s outside door handle. The
SmartKey or SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO* must be in close proxim-
ity to the driver’s outside door handle.
Vehicles without panorama roof*

Press and hold button

Power windows
Convenience closing feature
When you lock the vehicle, you can close
the windows, tilt/sliding sunroof* or
tilt/sliding panel* simultaneously.
Aim transmitter eye of the SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO* at the
driver’s outside door handle
(page 234). The SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO* must be
in close proximity to the driver’s out-
side door handle.

Press and hold button ‹ until the
windows, the tilt/sliding sunroof* or
tilt/sliding panel* are completely
closed.
Vehicles with panorama roof*:

Press and hold button ‹ again. The
roller sunblinds close.

Release button ‹ to interrupt pro-
cedure.Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO*:

Press and hold the lock button on an
outside door handle (
page 64) until
the windows, the tilt/sliding sunroof*
or tilt/sliding panel* are completely
closed.

Release the lock button on the outside
door handle to interrupt procedure.

When closing the side windows and the
tilt/sliding sunroof* or tilt/sliding panel*,
ma ke s ur e th at th er e is no dan ge r o f an y o ne
being harmed by the closing procedure.
If potential danger exists, proceed as fol-
lows:

Release button ‹ to stop the closing
procedure. To open, press and hold
buttonŒ. To continue the closing
procedure after making sure that there
is no danger of anyone being harmed by
the closing procedure, press and hold
button‹.
Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO*:


Release the lock button (
page 64) on
the outside door handle to stop the clos-
ing procedure.


Pull on the outside door handle and hold
firmly. The side windows and the
tilt/sliding sunroof* or tilt/sliding pan-
el* will open for as long as the door han-
dle is held but the door not opened.

Opening and closing the roller
sunblinds for the panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel
The tilt/sliding panel and the front and
rear roller sunblinds are opened and
closed electrically. The switch for the
tilt/sliding panel and the roller sunblinds is
on the overhead control panel. An addi-
tional switch for the roller sunblinds is in
the rear passenger compartment.
The roller sunblinds only operate with the
tilt/sliding panel closed. The front and rear
roller sunblind cannot be operated individ-
ually.

Opening and closing the roller sun-
blinds

To open or close the roller sunblinds,
move the roof panel/roller sunblinds
switch to the resistance point in the re-
quired direction of arrow1 or2.
Release the roof panel/roller sunblinds
switch when the roller sunblinds have
reached the desired position.

When closing the roller sunblinds, make
sure that no one is in danger of being injured
by the closing procedure. The closing of the
roller sunblinds can be immediately halted
by releasing the switch.

When opening or closing the tilt/sliding pan-
el, make sure that there is no danger of any-
one being harmed by the opening or closing
procedure.
The opening procedure of the tilt/sliding
panel can be immediately halted by releas-
ing the switch or, if the switch was moved
past the resistance point and released, by
moving the switch in any direction.
The closing procedure of the tilt/sliding
panel can be immediately halted by releas-
ing the switch.
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel is made out of glass. In the event of an
accident, the glass may shatter. This may re-
sult in an opening in the roof.

sunblinds are fully closed.

Keep holding the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow2 for approximately
1 second.

Move and hold the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow1 until the roller
sunblinds are fully opened.

Keep holding the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow1 for approximately
1 second.

Move and hold the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow3 until the tilt/slid-
ing panel is fully raised.

Keep holding the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow3 for approximately
1 second.

Move and hold the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow2 until the tilt/slid-
ing panel is fully closed.

Keep holding the roof panel switch in
direction of arrow2 for approximately
1 second.

Check the Express-open feature of the
tilt/sliding panel (
page 241).
If the tilt/sliding panel opens com-
pletely, the roof is synchronized. Other-
wise repeat the above steps.
