When one of the manual control buttons is depressed
while operating in automatic mode, the mode relevant to
the depressed button is set. Other conditions continue to
be adjusted automatically.
If manual air flow selection is desired

The outlets from which air is delivered can be selected
manually by pressing the button. The function of each mode
is as follows:

Panel − Air flows mainly from the instrument panel vents.
2
Bilevel − Air flows from both the floor vents and the
instrument panel vents.
3 Floor − Air flows mainly from the floor vents.
It is recommended that you close the lower vent. For details
about this, see page 212.
4 Floor/Windshield − Air flows mainly from the floor vents
and windshield vents.
It is recommended that you close the lower vent. For details
about this, see page 212.
If quick heating or cooling is desired
Turn the “TEMP” knob until “MAX. HOT” or “MAX. COLD”
appears on the display.
If manual fan speed control is desired

The fan speed can be set to your desired speed by pushing the
appropriate side of fan speed control button. The higher the
fan speed is, the more air is delivered. Pushing the “OFF”
button turns off the fan.
To remove exterior windshield frost, use the high speed
setting.

While the
system is on, pushing the knob turns off the “MAIN”
indicator light and the system. If you turn the ignition off with
the system turned on, the system will be turned off
automatically.
CAUTION
If the image in the headup display (night view display)
is too bright, you cannot see the surroundings through
the windshield clearly. To avoid glare, do not make the
display brighter than necessary.

4Automatic light control sensor
The nearinfrared floodlight (night view projector which
irradiates nearinfrared light not seen by people) located
near the fog lights irradiates the area reaching from the tip
of the low beam to high beam. The nearinfrared camera
(night view camera) located on top of the windshield
converts irradiated light into an image. This image is
shown on the headup display (night view display)
located on the bottom of the windshield.
The automatic light control sensor is on top of the passenger
side instrument panel.
Do not place anything on the instrument panel and do not affix
anything on the windshield to block this sensor.

Never allow anyone to ride in the luggage
compartment. It is not designed for
passengers. They should ride in their seats
with their seat belts properly fastened.
Otherwise, they are much more likely to suffer
serious bodily injury, in the event of sudden
braking or a collision.
 Do not drive with objects left on top of the
instrument panel. They may interfere with the
driver’s field of view. Or they may move during
sharp vehicle acceleration or turning, and
impair the driver’s control of the vehicle. In an
accident they may injure the vehicle occupants.
NOTICE
Do not load the vehicle beyond the vehicle
capacity weight specified on the tire pressure
label.
Capacity and distribution
Cargo capacity depends on the total weight of the
occupants.
(Cargo capacity) = (Total load capacity) – (Total weight
of occupants)
Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit –
(1) Locate the statement “The combined weight of
occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or
XXX lbs.” on your vehicle’s placard.
(2) Determine the combined weight of the driver and
passengers that will be riding in your vehicle.
(3) Subtract the combined weight of the driver and
passengers from XXX kg or XXX lbs.
(4) The resulting figure equals the available amount of
cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if the
“XXX” amount equals 1400 lbs. and there will be five 150
lb passengers in your vehicle, the amount of available
cargo and luggage load capacity is 650 lbs. (1400 – 750
(5 x 150) = 650 lbs.)
(5) Determine the combined weight of luggage and
cargo being loaded on the vehicle. That weight may not
safely exceed the available cargo and luggage load
capacity calculated in Step 4.

identifier for your vehicle. This number is on the left top
of the instrument panel and can be seen through the
windshield from outside.
This is the primary identification number for your Lexus. It is
used in registering the ownership of your vehicle.

Carpets, Windows and Seat Belts
Begin by vacuuming thoroughly to remove as much dirt as
possible. Several types of foam cleaners are available; some
are in aerosol cans and others are powders or liquids which
you mix with water to produce a foam. To shampoo the
carpets, use a sponge or brush to apply the foam. Rub in
overlapping circles. Do not apply water − the best results are
obtained by keeping the carpet as dry as possible. Read the
shampoo instructions and follow them closely.
The seat belts may be cleaned with mild soap and water
or with lukewarm water.
Use a cloth or sponge. As you are cleaning, check the belts
for excessive wear, fraying or cuts.
NOTICE
 Use a good foamtype shampoo to clean the carpets.
 Do not use dye or bleach on the belts it may weaken
them.
 Do not use the belts until they become dry.
 The windows may be cleaned with any household
window cleaner.
 When cleaning the inside of the rear window, be
careful not to scratch or damage the heater wires.
Air Conditioning Control Panel, Audio
System, Instrument Panel, Console Panel,
and Switches
Use a soft damp cloth for cleaning.
Soak a clean soft cloth in water or lukewarm water then lightly
wipe off any dirt.
NOTICE
 Do not use organic substances (solvents, kerosene,
alcohol, gasoline, etc.) or alkaline or acidic solutions.
These chemicals can cause discoloring, staining or
peeling of the surface.
 If you use cleaners or polishing agents, make sure
their ingredients do not include the substances
mentioned above.
 If you use a liquid car freshener , do not spill the liquid
onto the vehicle’s interior surfaces. It may contain
the ingredients mentio ned above. Immediately clean
any spill using the method mentioned above.
