A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is
recommended when filter is replaced.

Make sure to install new spark plugs
of the correct heat range.

o Cooling System
Check the cooling system part, such
as radiator, coolant reservoir, hoses and connections for leakage and dam- age. Replace any damaged parts.

o Timing Belt Replace timimg belt and inspect all associated parts related for damage and deformation. Replace any dam- aged parts immediately. 6ZF060G1-A
o Vapour Hose and Fuel Filler Cap The vapour hose and fuel filler cap should be inspected at those intervals specified in the maintenance sched-ule. Make sure that a new vapour hose or fuel filler cap is correctly replaced.

o Vacuum, Crankcase
Ventilation Hoses
Inspect the surface of hoses for evi-
dence of heat and/or mechanical dam-age. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessiveswelling indicate deterioration. Partic- ular attention should be paid to exam- ining those hose surfaces nearest tohigh heat sources, such as the ex- haust manifold.
Inspect the hose routing to assure that
the hoses do not come in contact withany heat source, sharp edges or mov- ing component which might cause heatdamage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings, to make sure they aresecure, and that no leaks are present. Hoses should be replaced immedi- ately if there is any evidence of dete-rioration or damage. F060N02E-AAT
o Valve Clearance
Inspect excessive valve noise and/or
engine vibration and adjust if neces-sary. A qualified technician should perform the operation.

o Brake Hoses and Lines Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. 6ZF070G2-A
o Brake Fluid Check brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Rear Brake Drums And
Linings/Parking Brake
Check the rear brake drums and lin-
ings for scoring, burning, leaking fluid, broken parts, and excessive wear. In- spect the parking brake system in- cluding the parking brake lever andcables. For detailed service proce- dures, refer to the Shop Manual.

o Manual Transaxle Oil
Inspect the manual transaxle oil ac-
cording to the maintenance schedule. NOTE:
If the oil level is low, check for
possible leaks before adding oil. Do not overfill. F070E05A-AAT
o Automatic Transaxle Fluid The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP- III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid.

5DAILY OPERATING CHECKS
SG020B1-E The following items should be checked on a daily basis or whenever the ve- hicle is refuelled, whichever occurssooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all light- ing equipment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer op- eration.
o Horn operation.
o Warning light operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mir- rors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and
operation.
o Fluid leakage.
The vehicle must not be driven if the daily operating checks indicate that any item of equipment related to thesafety or roadworthiness of the vehicle is not functioning correctly. G030A01FC-EAT The correct engine oil level is of para-
mount importance. An excessively high or low oil level may result inirreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checked on a daily basis, wheneverthe vehicle is refuelled or before start- ing a long trip, whichever occurs sooner.
In addition, it is imperative that only an
approved grade and specification of oilis used to avoid the possibility of serious engine damage and prematurewear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if the maximum reliability and usefullife is to be obtained from the vehicle. G030B02O-EAT Recommended Oil Petrol engine
ENGINE OIL
The engine oil quality should meet the following classification. API SJ, SL or ABOVE ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE The oil viscosity should be selected according to the operating environ- ment of the engine by means of thetable shown above. The engine oil recommendations are complete in themselves and the use of additives isneither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result in invalidation of the vehicle warranty.
