Check the pads for excessive wear,
discs for run out and wear, and cali- pers for fluid leakage.

Visually inspect the exhaust pipes,
muffler and hangers for cracks, dete- rioration, or damage. Start the engineand listen carefully for any exhaust gas leakage. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary. F070M01A-AAT
o Steering Gear Box, Linkage &
Boots/Lower arm Ball Joint
With the vehicle stopped and engine
off, check for excessive free-play in the steering wheel. Check the linkage for bends or damage. Check the dustboots and ball joints for deterioration, cracks, or damage. Replace any dam- aged parts.

o Power Steering Pump,
Belt and Hoses
Check the power steering pump and
hoses for leakage and damage. Re- place any damaged or leaking parts immediately. Inspect the power steer-ing belt for evidence of cuts, cracks, excessive wear, oiliness and proper tension. Replace or adjust it if neces-sary. F070P01A-AAT
o Driveshafts and Boots
Check the drive shafts, boots andclamps for cracks, deterioration, or damage. Replace any damaged parts and, if necessary, repack the grease. F070Q01A-AAT
o Air Conditioning Refrigerant
Check the air conditioning lines and connections for leakage and damage.Check air conditioning performance according to the relevant shop manual if necessary.

o Brake operation, including parking brake

the clutch pedal until you feel a change in resistance. This is the clutch pedalfreeplay. The freeplay should be within the limits specified in the illustration. If it is not, have it inspected by yourHyundai dealer and adjusted or re- paired if necessary.

To check the steering wheel freeplay, stop the car with the wheels pointedstraight ahead and gently move the steering wheel back and forth. Use very light finger pressure and be sen-sitive to changes in resistance that mark the limits of the freeplay. If the freeplay is greater than specified, haveit inspected by your Hyundai dealer and adjusted or repaired if neces- sary. 30 mm (1.18 in.)

With the engine off, press down on the brake pedal several times to re-duce the vacuum in the brake booster.Then, using your hand, press downslowly on the brake pedal until you feel a change in resistance. This is the brake pedal freeplay. The freeplayshould be within the limits specified in the illustration. If it is not, have it inspected by your Hyundai dealer andadjusted or repaired if necessary.

o Driving on worn-out tires is dan- gerous! Worn-out tires can cause loss of braking effectiveness,steering control and traction. When replacing tires, never mix radial and bias-ply tires on thesame car. If you replace radial tires with bias-ply tires, they must be installed in sets of four.
o Your vehicle is equipped with tires designed to provide for saferide and handling capability.Do not use a size and type of tireand wheel that is different from the one that is originally installed on your vehicle. It can affect thesafety and performance of your vehicle, which could lead to han- dling failure or rollover and seri-ous injury. HXD091-1
When replacing the tires, be sure to equip all four tires with the tireand wheel of the same size, type, tread, brand and load-carrying ca- pacity. If you nevertheless decideto equip your vehicle with any tire/wheel combination not rec- ommended by Hyundai for off-road driving, you should not use these tires for highway driving.
