SD020A1-E Seek assistance from the nearest Hyundai authorised repairer with regard to the method of ignition and fuel sys- tem diagnosis.
WARNING:
If the engine refuses to start, noattempt should be made to push ortow start the vehicle. Vehicles with automatic transaxle or fuel injec- tion will not be able to be started in this manner since no drive is trans- mitted through the automatictransaxle whilst the engine is not running, and in the case of fuel injected derivatives, the fuel pumpwill not operate under tow start conditions. In addition, if the ve- hicle is equipped with an exhaustcatalyst, damage to the catalyst may result if the vehicle is tow started. SD020B1-E If the Engine Cannot be Cranked
1. If the vehicle is fitted with manual
transaxle, ensure that the clutch pedal is depressed whilst cranking the engine. If the vehicle is fitted with automatic transaxle, ensurethat the transaxle selector is at the "P" or"N" position.
2. Check the battery terminals and connections to ensure that theseare clean and also tight.
3. If the ignition warning lights dim when the engine is cranked and the batteryterminals have been checked, a dis- charged battery is indicated. D010B01GK
4. Do not attempt to push or tow start
the vehicle, refer to "Jump Starting"for information regarding engine start- ing when the battery is discharged.

6ZF070F1-A o Brake hoses and lines Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. A6ZF070G2-A
o Brake fluid & Clutch fluid
Check brake fluid level in the brake
fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Rear brake drums and linings/
parking brake
Check the rear brake drums and lin-
ings for scoring, burning, leaking fluid,broken parts, and excessive wear. In- spect the parking brake system in-cluding the parking brake lever and cables. For detailed service proce- dures, refer to the Shop Manual. 6ZF070J1-A
o Brake pads, calipers and ro-
tors
Check the pads for excessive wear,
discs for run out and wear, and cali- pers for fluid leakage.

o Exhaust pipe and silencer
Visually inspect the exhaust pipes,
silencer and hangers for cracks, dete-rioration, or damage. Start the engine and listen carefully for any exhaustgas leakage. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary.

o Suspension mounting bolts
Check the suspension connections for
looseness or damage. Retighten to the specified torque.

o Automatic Transaxle Fluid
The fluid level should be in the "HOT"range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP- III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid. Refer to the chapter 6.

CHECKING THE CLUTCH FLUID

(Manual Transaxle)To Check the Clutch Fluid
The clutch fluid level in the master cylinder should be checked when performing other under bonnet checks. The system should be checked forleakage at the same time.Ensure that the clutch fluid level isalways between the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings on the fluid reservoir. Fill as required. Fluid loss indicates aleak in the clutch system which should be inspected and repaired immedi- ately.
WARNING:
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and should never be stored in an un- sealed container. The presence ofwater in the braking system will cause vapour locks and increase the possibility of brake fade alongwith promoting corrosion within the braking system. The brake fluid must be changed at the specifiedtime or mileage interval to ensure continued safe operation of the system. Brake fluid will cause rapidand serious damage to paintwork. If accidental spillage occurs, the affected area must be rinsed withwater immediately. Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the eyes or to be ingestedand ensure that fluid is safely stored away form the reach of chil- dren.

SG140A1-E Condenser Ensure that the condenser is periodi- cally inspected and that accumula- tions of dirt, dead insects and leaves etc, are removed to ensure that theefficiency of the system is not im- paired.
