You can adjust the height of the shoul-der belt anchor to one of the 4 positionsfor maximum comfort and safety. If the height of the adjusting seat belt is too near your neck, you will not begetting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be ad- justed so that it lies across your chestand midway over your shoulder nearest the door and not your neck. To adjust the height of the seat beltanchor, lower or raise the height ad- juster into an appropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. Tolower it, push it down while pressing the height adjuster button. Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad-juster to make sure that it has locked into the position.B180A02A-GAT SEAT BELTS-Driver's and Passenger's 3-Point System withWebbing Clamp Locking Retrac-tor (If Installed)To Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab intothe buckle. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the belt will extend and let you move around.

For small children and ba-bies, a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits yourcar and seat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manufacturer when installing thechild restraint system.

If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor. When youunbuckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normal seated pas-senger emergency locking usage con- dition. NOTE:

o When using the vehicle’s “ISOFIX”
system to install a child restraint system in the rear seat, all unused vehicle rear seat belt metal latchplates or tabs must be latched securely in their seat belt buckles and the seat belt webbing must beretracted behind the child restraint to prevent the child from reaching and taking hold of unretracted seat
belts. Unlatched metal latch plates or tabs may allow the child to reach the unretracted seat beltswhich may result in strangulation and a serious injury or death to the child in the child restraint.
o Do not mount more than one child restraint to a child restraint loweranchorage point. The improperincreased load may cause the an- chorage points or tether anchor to break, causing serious injury ordeath.
o Attach the ISOFIX or ISOFIX-com-
patible child restraint seat onlyto the appropriate locations shown in the illustration.NOTE: An ISOFIX-child-seat can only be installed if the seat has a vehicle- specific approval according to ECE-R44. Before using the ISOFIX-child- seat, which was bought for another car, ask your Hyundai-dealerwhether this seat-type is approved and recommended for your Hyundai. To secure the child restraint seat
1. To engage the child restraint seat tothe ISOFIX anchor, insert the child restraint seat latch into the ISOFIX anchor. Listen for the audible "click" sound. HGK261

2. Connect the tether strap hook to the
child restraint hook holder and tighten to secure the seat. Refer to "Securing a Child Restraint System with the Tether Anchorage System"on page 1-28.
WARNING:
o There is no center rear seating position.
o Do not install a child restraint seat at the center of the rear seatusing the vehicle's ISOFIX an- chors. The ISOFIX anchors are only provided for the left andright outboard of the rear seat. Do not misuse the ISOFIX an- chors by attempting to attach achild restraint seat in the middle of the rear seat to the ISOFIX anchors. In a crash, the childrestraint seat ISOFIX attachments may not be strong enough to secure the child restraint seatproperly in the center of the rear seat and may break, causing se- rious injury or death.

The seat belt pre-tensioner system consists mainly of the following com-ponents. Their locations are shown in the illus- tration.
1. SRS airbag warning light
2. Seat belt pre-tensioner assembly
3. SRS control module
WARNING:
To obtain maximum benefit from a pre-tensioner seat belt:
1. The seat belt must be worn cor- rectly.
2. The seat belt must be adjusted to
the correct position.

NOTE:
o Both the driver's and front
passenger's pre-tensioner seat belts will be activated in certainfrontal collisions. The pre- tensioner seat belts can be acti- vated alone or, where the frontalcollision is severe enough, to- gether with the airbags.
o When the pre-tensioner seat belts are activated, a loud noise maybe heard and fine dust, which may appear to be smoke, may bevisible in the passenger compart- ment. These are normal operat- ing conditions and are not haz-ardous.
o Although it is harmless, the fine
dust may cause skin irritationand should not be breathed for prolonged periods. Wash your hands and face thoroughly afteran accident in which the pre- tensioner seat belts were acti- vated. CAUTION:
o Because the sensor that activates the SRS airbag is connected withpre-tensioner seat belt, the SRSairbag warning light on the instrument panel will come on for approximately 6 seconds af-ter the ignition key has been turned to the "ON" position, and then it should turn off.
o If pre-tensioner seat belt is not working properly, this warninglight will illuminate even if there is no malfunction of the SRS airbag. If the SRS airbag warninglight does not illuminate when the ignition key is turned to "ON", or if it remains illuminated aftercoming for approximately 6 sec- onds, or if it illuminates while the vehicle is being driven, pleasehave an authorized Hyundai dealer inspect the pre-tensioner seat belts and SRS airbag sys-tem as soon as possible.

o Improper handling of the pre-
tensioner seat belt assemblies, and failure to heed the warnings to not strike, modify, inspect, re-place, service or repair the pre- tensioner seat belt assemblies may lead to improper operationor inadvertent activation and se- rious injury.
o Always wear seat belts when driv- ing or riding in a motor vehicle.
!WARNING:
o Pre-tensioners are designed to operate only one time. After acti- vation, pre-tensioner seat belts must be replaced. All seat belts, of any type, should always bereplaced after they have been worn during a collision.
o The pre-tensioner seat belt as- sembly mechanisms become hotduring activation. Do not touch the pre-tensioner seat belt as-semblies for several minutes af- ter they have been activated.
o Do not attempt to inspect or re- place the pre-tensioner seat beltsyourself. This must be done by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
o Do not strike the pre-tensioner seat belt assemblies.
o Do not attempt to service or re- pair the pre-tensioner seat belt system in any manner.

The indications of the system's presenceare the letters "SRS AIR BAG" em- bossed on the airbag pad cover in the steering wheel and the front passenger'spanel pad above the glove box. The purpose of the SRS is to provide the vehicle's driver or the front passen-ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt system alone, in case of a frontal impact of sufficientseverity. NOTE: Be sure to read information about the SRS on the labels provided in thefront of the sun visor and in the glove box.WARNING:
o As its name implies, the SRS is designed to work with, and be supplemental to, the driver's and the passenger's three point seat belt systems and is not a substi-tute for them. Therefore your seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion. Theairbags deploy only in certain fron- tal impact conditions severe enough to cause significant injuryto the vehicle occupants.o The SRS is designed to deploy theairbags only when an impact is sufficiently severe and when theimpact angle is less than 30° from the forward longitudinal axis of the vehicle and will not deploy inside, rear or rollover impacts. Ad- ditionally, the airbags will only deploy once. Thus, seat belts mustbe worn at all times.

o When the SRS is activated, there may be a loud noise and fine dust will be released throughout the vehicle. These conditions are nor- mal and are not hazardous. How-ever, the fine dust generated dur- ing airbag deployment may cause skin irritation. Wash all exposedskin areas thoroughly with luke- warm water and a mild soap after an accident in which the airbagswere deployed.
o The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON"position. If the SRS is not working properly,(1) The SRS SRI does not come on when the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position or after the engine is started.
(2) The SRS SRI blinks for a sec- ond and remains on after illu-minating for about 6 secondswhen the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after he engine is started.
o When installing a container of liq-
uid air freshener inside a vehicle, do not place it near the instrument cluster nor on the instrument panelpad surface. If there is any leakage from the air freshener onto these areas (Instrument cluster, instru-ment panel pad or air ventilator), it may damage these parts. If the liquid from air freshener does leakonto these areas, wash them with water immediately.
