The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) on the instrument panel will illumi-nate for approximately 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, after which the SRI should go out. The airbag modules are located both in the centre of the steering wheel and in the front passenger's panel above the glove box. When the SRSCM detects aconsiderable impact to the front of the vehicle, it will automatically deploy the airbags. B240B02L-RB240B03GK-EAT SRS Components and Functions The SRS consists of the following com- ponents: - Driver's Side Airbag Module - Passenger's Side Airbag Module - SRS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)- SRS Control Module (SRSCM) The SRSCM continually monitors all elements while the ignition is "ON" to determine if a frontal or near-frontal impact is severe enough to requireairbag deployment.B240B01L-R
o For maximum safety protection in
all types of crashes, all occupants including the driver should always wear their seat belts whether or not an airbag is also provided attheir seating position to minimise the risk of severe injury or death in the event of a crash. Do not sit orlean unnecessarily close to the airbag whilst the vehicle is in motion.
o The SRS airbag system must de- ploy very rapidly to provide pro-tection in a crash. If an occupant isout of position because of not wearing a seat belt, the airbag may forcefully contact the occupantcausing serious or fatal injuries.

Passenger's Airbag
Upon deployment, tear seams molded directly into the pad covers will sepa-rate under pressure from the expan- sion of the airbags. Further opening of the covers then allows full inflation ofthe airbags. A fully inflated airbag in combination with a properly worn seat belt slows the driver's or the passenger's forward mo- tion, thus reducing the risk of head andchest injury. After complete inflation, the airbag immediately starts deflating, enabling the driver to maintain forward visibility. B240B03L-R

!
CAUTION:
o Do not install or place any acces- sories (drink holder, cassette holder, sticker, etc) on the frontpassenger's panel above the glove box in the vehicle with passenger's airbag. Such objects may becomedangerous projectiles and cause injury if the passenger's airbag inflates.
o When installing a container of liq-
uid air freshener inside a vehicle, do not place it near the instrument cluster not on the instrument panelpad surface. If there is any leakage from the air freshener onto these areas (instrument cluster, instru-ment panel pad or air ventilator), it may damage these parts. If the liquid from the air freshener doesleak onto these areas, wash them with water immediately.

!WARNING:
o Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in front of it!
o Do not install a child restraint sys- tem in the front passenger seatposition. A child restraint system mustnever be placed in the front seat. The infant or child could be se- verely injured by an airbag de-ployment in case of an accident. o Modification to SRS components
or wiring, including the addition of any kind of badges to the pad covers or modifications to the bodystructure, can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to possible injury.
o For cleaning the airbag pad cov- ers, use only a soft, dry cloth orone which has been moistenedwith plain water. Solvents or clean- ers could adversely affect the airbag covers and proper deploy-ment of the system.
o No objects should be placed over
or near the airbag modules on thesteering wheel, instrument panel, and the front passenger's panel above the glove box, because anysuch object could cause harm if the vehicle is in a crash severe enough to cause the airbags toinflate.
o If the airbags inflate, they must be
replaced by a Hyundai authorisedrepairer.
B240C01NF-EAT SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and so there are no parts you can safelyservice by yourself. If the SRS SRI (Service Reminder Indicator) does not come on, or continuously remains on,have your vehicle immediately in- spected by your Hyundai authorised repairer. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or anywork on the steering wheel must be performed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRSsystem may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE:
o Never place anything over sen-
sor located on the instrument panel, this will ensure better auto light system control.
o Don't clean the sensor using a window cleaner.
o If your vehicle has window tint or other types of coating on the front windscreen, the AUTO light system may not work properly. OGK026223CR

WINDSCREEN WIPER/ WASHER SWITCH
SB220E1-E Headlight Flasher The headlight may be flashed by pull- ing the turn signal switch lever towards the steering wheel. The headlight willbe extinguished when the switch is released. B350A01A-EAT The windscreen wiper switch, depen- dent upon model, has three operatingpositions. 1. Intermittent wiper operation. 2. Low speed operation. 3. High speed operation. NOTE: To prevent damage to the wiper system, do not attempt to wipe away heavy accumulations of snow or ice.Accumulated snow and ice should be removed manually. If there is only a light layer of snow or ice, operatethe heater in the defrost mode to melt the snow or ice before using the wiper.

CAUTION:
The inside of the rear windscreen should never be cleaned with a hard or sharp implement since damage to the heating element may occur. The glass should only be cleaned with a soft cloth or chamois leather with the use only of a mild deter-gent or proprietary glass cleaner where necessary. Only horizontal movement of the cloth should bemade when cleaning the glass and care should be exercised to ensure that the heating elements are not damaged by rings or jewellery whilst the glass is being cleaned. NOTE: The engine must be running for the rear window defroster to operate.
INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATION CONTROL
