6ZF070F1-A o Brake hoses and lines Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. A6ZF070G2-A
o Brake fluid & Clutch fluid
Check brake fluid level in the brake
fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Rear brake drums and linings/
parking brake
Check the rear brake drums and lin-
ings for scoring, burning, leaking fluid,broken parts, and excessive wear. In- spect the parking brake system in-cluding the parking brake lever and cables. For detailed service proce- dures, refer to the Shop Manual. 6ZF070J1-A
o Brake pads, calipers and ro-
tors
Check the pads for excessive wear,
discs for run out and wear, and cali- pers for fluid leakage.

o Exhaust pipe and silencer
Visually inspect the exhaust pipes,
silencer and hangers for cracks, dete-rioration, or damage. Start the engine and listen carefully for any exhaustgas leakage. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary.

o Suspension mounting bolts
Check the suspension connections for
looseness or damage. Retighten to the specified torque.

o Automatic Transaxle Fluid
The fluid level should be in the "HOT"range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP- III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid. Refer to the chapter 6.

o SAE 5W-20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is preferred regardless of regional option and engine variation.
o If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is not available, secondaryrecommended engine oil for cor- responding temperature rangecan be used.ENGINE OIL
SG030A1-E The correct engine oil level is of para- mount importance. An excessively high or low oil level may result inirreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checked on a daily basis orwhenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurs sooner. In addition, it is imperative that only an approved grade and specification of oil is used to avoid the possibility of serious engine damage and prema-ture wear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if the maximum reliability anduseful life is to be obtained from the vehicle. G030B02O-EAT
Recommended Oil
The engine oil quality should meet the
following classification.
API SJ, SL or ABOVE, ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE The oil viscosity should be selected
according to the operating environ- ment of the engine by means of thetable shown above. The engine oil recommendations are complete in themselves and the use of additivesis neither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result in invalidation of the vehiclewarranty.

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUIDCHECKING THE TRANSAXLE OIL (MANUAL)

Transaxle lubricant in the manual transaxle should be checked at those intervals specified in the vehicle main-tenance schedule in Section 5.
!WARNING:
It is always better to check the
transaxle oil level when the engine is cool or cold. If the engine is hot, you should exercise great caution to avoid burning yourself on hotengine or exhaust parts.
NOTE: It is recommended that the manual
transaxle fluid should be checked by a Hyundai authorised repairer. G110A01MC-EAT The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked and changed at those intervals prescribed in the main-tenance schedule. It is of paramount importance that only the specified fluid is used when replenishing or changingthe fluid. The use of other fluids may irreparably damage the transaxle and invalidate the manufacturers warranty.In addition the ingress of dirt or lint may prevent correct functioning of the transaxle and care must be exercisedto prevent the ingress of such matter.

Off Season Maintenance
The air conditioning must be run for
ten minutes or so weekly during peri- ods when the system would not nor- mally be used to ensure that thecompressor and seals are lubricated. If this precaution is not observed the compressor seals may become stuckto the compressor shaft and dam- aged when the system is next used resulting in a loss of refrigerant anddamage to the compressor.

Checking the Refrigerant
1. Start the engine and run at idle for
several minutes with the refrigera- tion system running at the coldest setting.
2. If the air coming out of the in-dash vents is not cold, have the air con-ditioning system inspected by your Hyundai authorised repairer.
CAUTION:
Running the air conditioning sys-tem for extended periods of time with a low refrigerant level maydamage the compressor.

o If battery electrolyte is spilled ontoskin or into eyes, the effected area must be flushed with copious amounts of water and medical as- sistance sought.
o If battery electrolyte is ingested, copious amounts of water or milkfollowed by an ant-acid (raw egg ormilk of magnesia) must be drunk. Vomiting should not be induced and medical assistance must besought.
o Batteries must only be charged in well ventilated areas from which naked lights or sources of sparks are excluded.
o Ensure that children, pets or other unauthorised persons are kept awayfrom batteries.
o Do not allow anything to bridge the
positive (+) and negative (-) termi-nals of the battery.
o Never invert the battery.
The battery fitted during production isof the "Maintenance Free" type.
If electrolyte gets on your skin, thoroughly wash the contacted area. If you feel a pain or a burn- ing sensation, get medical attention immediately. Wear eye protection when charging or working near a battery.Always provide ventilationwhen working in an en-closed space.
o When lifting a plastic-cased bat- tery, excessive pressure on thecase may cause battery acid toleak, resulting in personal injury. Lift with a battery carrier or with your hands on opposite corners.
o Never attempt to charge the bat- tery when the battery cables areconnected.
o The electrical ignition system works with high voltage.Never touch these componentswith the engine running or theignition switched on.!WARNING:
Always read the following instructions carefully when handling a battery. Keep lighted cigarettes and all other flames or sparks away from the battery.Hydrogen, which is a highlycombustible gas, is alwayspresent in battery cells and may explode if ignited. Keep batteries out of the reach of children because
batteries contain highly cor-rosive SULPHURIC ACID. Do not allow battery acid to
contact your skin, eyes,
clothing or paint finish.If any electrolyte gets intoyour eyes, flush your eyeswith clean water for at least 15 minutes and get imme- diate medical attention. Ifpossible, continue to apply water with a sponge or cloth until medical atten-tion is received.
