If you need to replace the filler cap,use a genuine Hyundai replace- ment part. If you open the fuel filler cap dur-ing high ambient temperatures, a slight "pressure sound" may be heard. This is normal and not acause for concern. Whenever you open the fuel filler cap, turn it slowly.!

o Always double check to be sure that the hood is firmly latched before driving away. If it is not latched, the hood could fly openwhile the vehicle is being driven, causing a total loss of visibility, which might result in an accident.
o The support rod must be inserted completely into the hole providedin the hood whenever you inspectthe engine compartment. This will prevent the hood from falling and possibly injuring you.
o Do not move the vehicle with the hood in the raised position, asvision is obstructed and the hoodcould fall or be damaged.

The fuel-filler lid may be opened from inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel-filler lid opener located on the front floor area on the left side of the car. NOTE: If the fuel-filler lid will not open be- cause ice has formed around it, taplightly or push on the lid to break the ice and release the lid. Do not pry on the lid. If necessary, spray aroundthe lid with an approved de-icer fluid (do not use radiator anti-freeze) or move the vehicle to a warm placeand allow the ice to melt.

explosive materials. When refuel- ing, please note the followingguidelines carefully.
o Before touching the fuel nozzle or
fuel filler cap, have one's hands incontact with metal parts away from the filler neck to discharge static electricity.
o Do not get back in the vehicle while refueling. Do not operateanything that can produce staticelectricity. Static electricity dis- charge can ignite fuel vapors re- sulting in explosion.
o When using a portable fuel con- tainer be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground while refuel-ing. Static electricity discharge from the container can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire. While start-ing refueling contact should be maintained until the filling is com- plete.

The trunk lid or the tail gate should always be kept completely closedwhile the vehicle is in motion. If it is left open or ajar, poisonous exhaust gases may enter the car resulting inserious injury or death to the occu- pants. See additional warnings con- cerning exhaust gases on page 2-2.
o Do not use cellular phones around a gas station. The electric current or electronic interference fromcellular phones can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
o When refueling always shut the
engine off. Sparks by electricalequipment of the engine can ig- nite fuel vapors causing a fire.After refueling, check to make sure the fuel filler cap is securely closed, and then start the engine.
o Do not smoke or try to light ciga- rettes around a gas station. Auto-motive fuels are flammable.o The trunk lid or the tail gate is opened
by first turning the key clockwise to release the lock, then raising the door manually.
o To close, lower the trunk lid or the tail
gate, then press down on it until itlocks. To be sure the trunk lid or the tail gate is securely fastened, try topull it up again.

is not indicative of an abnormality. In the event of the fuel filler cap requir- ing replacement, only a GenuineHyundai replacement part should be used to prevent fuel leakage.

The fuel filler flap may be opened from inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel filler flap release. NOTE: If the fuel filler flap will not open because ice has formed around it, tap lightly or push on it to break the ice and release it. Do not lever theflap.
