SG030C1-E Engine Oil Level Diesel engine The engine oil level should be checked with the engine at normal operatingtemperature and the vehicle parked upon level ground. Prior to checking the level, the vehicleshould be allowed to stand for several minutes after the engine has been switched off to allow the oil to drainback to the sump. Withdraw the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag. Replace the dipstick fullyand withdraw again when the oil level may be read from the stick. Normal oil level is indicated when the oil is presentbetween the two marks on the stick. It is not necessary to add oil if the level is above the lower mark and in any case,oil must not be added to the degree that the level exceeds the upper mark. Re- place the dipstick fully after checkingthe level.

NOTE: SAE 5W-20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 en- gine oil is preferred regardless ofregional option and engine varia- tion. If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 en- gine oil is not available, secondaryrecommended engine oil for corre- sponding temperature range can be used.
2. Diesel engine The engine oil quality should meet the following classification: API class: CF-4 or ABOVE ACEA class: B4 or ABOVE NOTE: SAE 0W-30 oil is for extra cold zone and to be restricted by driving condi- tion and dealing area. (Especially,not recommended for sustained high loaded and high speed operation.)

G030D02A-EAT ENGINE OIL REPLENISHMENT
If the indicated oil level is at or below the lower mark of the dipstick, oil should be added until the level is at or below the upper mark.To add oil to the engine, remove the filler cap by rotating in an counterclock- wise direction and pour engine oil intothe engine. Before checking the level again, allow several minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Replace the oilfiller cap rotating it in a clockwise direc- tion until tight. The quantity of oil required to raise the level from the minimum to maximum level is approximately 1 litre (PetrolEngine)/ 1.2 litres (Diesel Engine).ZG030E1-A ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION Function of engine oil Engine oil has the primary function of lubricating and cooling the inside of theengine. Engine oil consumption It is normal that an engine should con- sume some engine oil while normal driving. The cause of oil consumption in a normal engine are as follows;
o Engine oil is used to lubricate pis-
tons, piston rings and cylinders. A thin film of oil is left on the cylinder wall when a piston moves down- wards in the cylinder. High negativepressure generated during engine operation sucks some of the oil into the combustion chamber.This oil with some oil of the cylinder wall is burned by the high tempera- ture combustion gases during thecombustion process.

15CHECKING THE TRANSAXLE OIL
!
SG100A1-E MANUAL TRANSAXLE LUBRICANT The manual transaxle lubricant must be checked and or changed at the inter- vals specified in the maintenance sched- ule. Only those lubricants specifiedshould be used in order to prevent gear shifting difficulties or transaxle dam- age. WARNING:
The transaxle lubricant level shouldonly be checked when the engine is cold to preclude the possibility of personal injury by contact with hotcomponents.

Recommended Oil Use only the approved transaxle lubri- cant. The recommended lubricants are complete in themselves and the use of additives is neither required nor recom-mended. The use of additives may invalidate the vehicle warranty. Ensure that the vehicle is parked on level ground with the parking brakefirmly applied and the engine cool. Re- move the level plug from the transaxle when lubricant should begin to drip fromthe level hole. If the level is low and no lubricant is seen to drip, add the re- quired quantity of lubricant and replacethe plug.
