Pull the support rod out of its clip
and insert the end into the hole on
the front of the hood near the
center. To Close the Hood:
Lif t it up slightly to remove the
support rod f rom the hole. Put the
support rod back into its holding clip.
Lower the hood to about a f oot (30
cm) above the f ender, then let it
drop. Make sure it is securely
latched.
Lower it to about a f oot (30 cm)
above the f ender, then press down
f irmly with your hands. Make sure it
is securely latched.
Lif t the hood up most of the way.
The hydraulic supports will lif t it
uptherestof thewayandholditup.

Wait a f ew minutes af ter turning the
engine of f bef ore you check the oil.Wipe the dipstick with a clean
cloth or paper towel.
Insert it all the way back in its hole.Remove the dipstick again, and
check the level. It should be
between the upper and lower
marks.

When preparing to tow, and bef ore
driving away, be sure to check the
f ollowing:The vehicle has been properly
serviced, and the tires, brakes,
suspension, cooling system, and
lights are in good operating
condition.
All items in or on the trailer are
properly secured and cannot shif t
while you drive.
Thehitch,safetychains,andany
other attachments are secure.
All weights and loads are within
limits (see pages and ). Your vehicle tires and spare are
properly inf lated (see page ),
and the trailer tires and spare are
inflated as recommended by the
trailer maker.
The added weight, length, and
height of a trailer will af f ect your

so driving with a trailer requires
some special driving skills and

Your vehicle displays engine oil lif e
and maintenance service items in the
inf ormation display to show you
when you should have your dealer
perf orm engine oil replacement and
indicated maintenance service.To see the current engine oil lif e,
turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position, and push and release
the SELECT/RESET knob on the
instrument panel 3 times.If the oil lif e is 15 to 6 percent, you
will see the oil lif e indicator f or
several seconds every time you turn
the ignition switch to the ON (II)
position. The maintenance minder
indicator will also come on, and the
maintenance item code(s) for other
scheduled maintenance items
needing service will be displayed
next to the engine oil lif e indicator.
Based on the engine operating
conditions and accumulated engine
revolutions, the onboard computer in
your vehicle calculates the remaining
engine oil lif e and displays it as a
percentage.

When the remaining engine oil lif e is
5 to 1 percent, you will see a
‘‘SERVICE OIL LIFE’’ message in
the odometer/trip meter display,
along with the same maintenance
item code(s), every time you turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position. When the engine oil lif e is 0 percent,
the ‘‘0’’ indicator will blink. When
you see this message, have the
indicated maintenance perf ormed by
your dealer as soon as possible. The
display shows ‘‘0 %’’ until you drive 10
miles (U.S. models) or 10 km
(Canadian models).The display shows ‘‘ 10’’ when you
have driven 10 miles or 10 km.
Af terward, it shows your driving
distance if you continue to drive.

Your dealer will reset the display
af ter completing the required
