2006 GMC YUKON air condition

If you select recirculation while in defrost, defog or oor,
the light in the button will ash and then go out to let you
know that this is not allowed. This is normal and helps to
prevent fogging.
When the weather is cool or damp, operating the system
in recirculation for extended periods of time may cause
fogging of the vehicle’s windows. To clear the fog, select
either defog or front defrost.
You may also notice that the A/C compressor will run
while in recirculation mode. This is normal and helps to
prevent fogging.
9(Off):Press this button to turn off the entire climate
control system. Outside air will still enter the vehicle, and
will be directed to the oor. This direction can be changed
by pressing the mode button. The temperature can also
be adjusted using either temperature knob. Press the
up or down arrows on the fan switch, the defrost button,
the AUTO button, or the air conditioning button to turn the
system on when it is off.
Display
If you press the MODE button to select an air delivery
mode, the display will change to show you the selected
air delivery mode. After 10 seconds, the display will
change to show the driver’s temperature setting and the
selected mode.
If you press the up or down arrows on the fan switch,
the display will change to show the selected fan speed.
After 10 seconds, the display will change to show the
driver temperature setting and the selected mode.
Whenever you press AUTO, the display will change to
show the following:
The current driver’s set temperature and an arrow
for ve seconds
The current passenger’s set temperature setting
and an arrow for ve seconds
The automatic air delivery mode and fan speed
If the driver’s and passenger’s temperature settings are
the same when AUTO is pressed, the temperature setting
and both arrows will be displayed for ve seconds along
with the automatic air delivery mode and fan speed.
After the ve second update, the display will change to
show the temperature setting, both arrows and AUTO.

Air Conditioning
#
(Air Conditioning):Press this button to turn the air
conditioning (A/C) compressor on and off. The snowake
symbol will appear on the display when the A/C is on and
will turn off when the air conditioning is off.
Pressing this button when the outside temperature is too
cool for air conditioning will make the snowake symbol
ash three times and then turn off to let you know the air
conditioning mode is not available. If the air conditioning
is on and the outside temperature drops below a
temperature which is too cool for air conditioning to be
effective, the snowake symbol will turn off to let you
know the air conditioning mode has been canceled.
When air conditioning is selected or in AUTO mode,
the system will run the air conditioning automatically to
cool and dehumidify the air entering the vehicle.
If you select A/C off while in front defrost, defog or
recirculation, the A/C snowake symbol will turn off,
but the A/C compressor will still run to help prevent
fogging.
On hot days, open the windows long enough to let hot
inside air escape. This reduces the time it takes for
your vehicle to cool down. Then keep your windows
closed for the air conditioner to work its best.On cool, but sunny days while using manual operation
of the automatic system, use bi-level to deliver warm
air to the oor and cooler air to the instrument panel
outlets. To warm or cool the air delivered, turn the
temperature knob to the desired setting.
In AUTO mode the system will cool and dehumidify the
air inside the vehicle. Also while in AUTO mode, the
system will maximize its performance by using
recirculation as necessary.
Defogging and Defrosting
You can use either defog or front defrost to clear fog or
frost from your windshield. Use the defog mode to
clear the windows of fog or moisture. Use the front
defrost button to defrost the front windshield.
-(Defog):Use this setting to clear the windows of
fog or moisture. Press the mode button to select
this setting. This setting will deliver air to the oor and
windshield outlets.
0(Defrost):Press the front defrost button to defrost
the windshield. The system will automatically control
the fan speed if you select defrost from AUTO mode.
If the outside temperature is 40°F (4°C) or warmer, your
air conditioning compressor will automatically run to
help dehumidify the air and dry the windshield.

Rear Window Defogger
If your vehicle has this feature, the lines you see on
the rear window warm the glass. The rear window
defogger uses a warming grid to remove fog from the
rear window.
<(Rear):Press this button to turn the rear window
defogger on or off. An indicator light in the button
will come on to let you know that the rear window
defogger is activated.
The rear window defogger will turn off about 10 minutes
after the button is pressed. If you need additional
warming time, press the button again.
If your vehicle is equipped with heated mirrors, this
button will activate them.
Notice:Do not use a razor blade or sharp object
to clear the inside rear window. Do not adhere
anything to the defogger grid lines in the rear glass.
These actions may damage the rear defogger.
Repairs would not be covered by your warranty.
Outlet Adjustment
Use the air outlets located in the center and on the side
of your instrument panel to direct the airow.
Operation Tips

Keep the hood and front air inlets free of ice, snow,
or any other obstruction (such as leaves). The
heater and defroster will work far better, reducing
the chance of fogging the inside of your windows.
When you enter a vehicle in cold weather, turn the
fan knob all the way to the right for a few moments
before driving. This helps clear the intake ducts
of snow and moisture, and reduces the chance of
fogging the inside of your window.
Keep the air path under the front seats clear of
objects. This helps air to circulate throughout
your vehicle.
Adding outside equipment to the front of your
vehicle, such as hood-air deectors, may affect the
performance of the heating and air conditioning
system. Check with your dealer before adding
equipment to the outside of your vehicle.

Rear Air Conditioning and Heating
System
If your vehicle is equipped with this system, the control
is located in the overhead console. The control has
three knobs that control airow speed, temperature and
airow location.
Fan Knob
The fan knob on the left side of the control panel
adjusts the fan speed. To increase airow, turn the knob
clockwise. To decrease airow, turn it counterclockwise.
To turn the fan off, turn the knob to the off position.
9(Off):An off setting, located on the front climate
control panel also allows the driver to turn off the
rear seat passenger seat controls from the front seat.
Temperature Knob
The middle knob on the control panel lets you select the
temperature of the air owing into the passenger area.
Turn the knob clockwise toward the red area for warmer
air. Turn the knob counterclockwise toward the blue
area for cooler air.
Mode Knob
The right knob on the control panel allows you to
choose the direction of air delivery.
H(Vent):This setting directs the air through the
headliner outlets.
)(Bi-Level):Air is delivered through the oor outlets
as well as the headliner outlets. The ow can be
divided between vent and oor outlets depending upon
where the knob is placed between the settings.
6(Floor):This setting directs most of the air through
the oor outlets.

Rear Air Conditioning and Heating
System and Electronic Climate
Controls
With this system, the front or rear passengers can
control the air temperature, airow and fan speed for
the rear seat passengers. The climate control has
an overhead control near the driver and a control on the
back of the center console.
Driver Overhead Control
To control the rear climate control from the front seat
position, use the driver overhead control. The rear
console control must be on.AUX:Turn the knob, located on the left side of the
control panel, to this position to allow the rear seat
passengers to have control over the rear climate control
system. See “Rear Passenger Console Control” later
for more information.
9(Off):Turn the knob, located on the left side of the
control panel, to this position to turn the rear climate
control system off.
9(Fan):To adjust the airow speed, turn the fan
knob located on the left side of the control panel to the
desired setting. Choose AUTO if you want the system
to automatically choose the fan speed to maintain
a selected temperature. See “Auto Mode” later in this
section for more information on using this feature.
°F (°C):To adjust the air temperature, turn the
temperature knob on the center of the control panel.
For cooler or warmer air, turn the knob counterclockwise
toward 66°F (19°C) or clockwise toward 82°F (27°C).
To regulate the airow direction, adjust the right knob on
the control panel. Turn the knob clockwise for oor
vent airow or counterclockwise for headliner vent
airow. Generally, the upper vents are used for air
conditioning and the oor vents for heating. The knob
can be set to any blend setting. Choose AUTO if
you want the system to automatically regulate the
airow. See “Auto Mode” later in this section for more

If the word OFF or the off symbol is lit on the airbag
status indicator, it means that the passenger sensing
system has turned off the right front passenger’s frontal
airbag. SeePassenger Sensing System on page 1-82
for more on this, including important safety information.
If, after several seconds, all status indicator lights
remain on, or if there are no lights at all, there may be
a problem with the lights or the passenger sensing
system. See your dealer for service.
{CAUTION:
If the off indicator and the airbag readiness light
ever come on together, it means that something
may be wrong with the airbag system. If this
ever happens, have the vehicle serviced
promptly, because an adult-size person sitting
in the right front passenger seat may not have
the protection of the frontal airbag. SeeAirbag
Readiness Light on page 3-38.
Battery Warning Light
If this light is displayed
when the engine is
running, you may have
a problem with your
charging system.
The battery display will also stay on while the key is in
RUN until the engine is started.
If the light stays on after starting the engine it could
indicate a problem with the generator drive belt, or some
other charging system problem. Have it checked right
away. Driving with this light displayed could drain
your battery.
If you must drive a short distance with this light
displayed, it helps to turn off all your accessories, such
as the radio and the air conditioner.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp
Check Engine Light
Your vehicle is equipped
with a computer which
monitors operation of the
fuel, ignition, and emission
control systems.
This system is called OBD II (On-Board
Diagnostics-Second Generation) and is intended to
assure that emissions are at acceptable levels for the
life of the vehicle, helping to produce a cleaner
environment. The check engine light comes on to
indicate that there is a problem and service is required.
Malfunctions often will be indicated by the system
before any problem is apparent. This may prevent more
serious damage to your vehicle. This system is also
designed to assist your service technician in correctly
diagnosing any malfunction.
Notice:If you keep driving your vehicle with this
light on, after awhile, your emission controls
may not work as well, your fuel economy may not
be as good, and your engine may not run as
smoothly. This could lead to costly repairs that may
not be covered by your warranty.Notice:Modications made to the engine,
transmission, exhaust, intake, or fuel system of
your vehicle or the replacement of the original tires
with other than those of the same Tire Performance
Criteria (TPC) can affect your vehicle’s emission
controls and may cause this light to come on.
Modications to these systems could lead to costly
repairs not covered by your warranty. This may
also result in a failure to pass a required Emission
Inspection/Maintenance test. SeeAccessories
and Modifications on page 5-3.
This light should come on, as a check to show you it is
working, when the ignition is on and the engine is
not running. If the light does not come on, have it
repaired. This light will also come on during a
malfunction in one of two ways:
Light Flashing— A misre condition has been
detected. A misre increases vehicle emissions
and may damage the emission control system on
your vehicle. Diagnosis and service may be
required.
Light On Steady— An emission control system
malfunction has been detected on your vehicle.
Diagnosis and service may be required.

DIC Warnings and Messages
Warning messages are displayed on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) to notify the driver that the
status of the vehicle has changed and that some action
may be needed by the driver to correct the condition.
If there is more than one message that needs to
be displayed, they will appear one after another. Some
messages may not require immediate action, but
you should press any of the four DIC buttons on the
steering wheel to acknowledge that you received
the messages and clear them from the display. If your
vehicle does not have DIC buttons on the steering
wheel, press the trip odometer reset stem located on
the instrument panel cluster to acknowledge messages
and clear them from the display. Some messages
cannot be cleared from the display because they are
more urgent. These messages require action before they
can be removed from the DIC display. You should
take any messages that appear on the display seriously
and remember that clearing the messages will only
make the messages disappear, not correct the problem.
The following are the possible messages that can be
displayed and some information about them.
BATTERY NOT CHARGING
On some vehicles, if the battery is not charging during
operation, this message will appear on the DIC.
Driving with this problem could drain your battery.
Have the electrical system checked by your GM dealer
as soon as possible. SeeBattery Warning Light on
page 3-40andVoltmeter Gage on page 3-41. Pressing
any of the four DIC buttons will acknowledge the
message and clear it from the DIC display. If your
vehicle does not have the four DIC buttons, pressing
the trip odometer reset stem will acknowledge the
message and clear it from the DIC display.
BUCKLE PASSENGER
If your vehicle has the passenger sensing system,
this message reminds you to buckle the passenger’s
seat belt. SeePassenger Sensing System on page 1-82.
This message will display and a chime will sound when
the ignition is on, the driver’s seat belt is buckled, the
passenger’s seat belt is unbuckled with the passenger
airbag enabled, and the vehicle is in motion. You should
have the passenger buckle their seat belt.
