The spring catch system is
designed to ensure the best
comfort in use. An accidental knock
or gust of wind could release the
springs and make doors close.
WARNING
It is possible to increase the opening an-
gle of the two doors to facilitate loading
and unloading operations. Press button A-
fig. 98to open the doors to about 180°.
When open to 180° the
doors are not blocked. Do
not use this system when the vehicle
is parked on a slope or when it is
windy.

doors or the tailgate are not properly
shut.
On certain versions the display shows a
dedicated message when the front left/right
door or rear doors/load compartment are
open.
A buzzer will sound when one of the doors
is open and the vehicle is moving.

The turning on at the same time of warn-
ing lights
xand >with the engine run-
ning indicates an EBD system failure or
that the system is unavailable; in this case
heavy braking may cause the rear wheels
to lock before time, with the possibility of
skidding. Drive with the utmost care to
the nearest Fiat Dealership to have the
system checked.
On certain versions the dedicated message
is displayed.

SEAT BELTS NOT
FASTENED
(red)
The warning light on the instru-
ment panel turns on glowing steadily with
the vehicle stationary and driver’s seat belt
not fastened correctly. The warning light
will turn on flashing together with the
buzzer when, with the vehicle moving, dri-
ver’s seat belt is not fastened correctly. The
S.B.R. (Seat Belt Reminder) buzzer can on-
ly be excluded by Fiat Dealership. On cer-
tain versions the system can be reactivat-
ed through the set-up menu.<

❒for chassis-cabs, from the rear right
side of the vehicle fig. 5use the
wrench to operate the wheel re-
straining device screw,
❒for vans, open 180° the load compart-
ment door and remove the cap from
the hole A-fig. 6to fit the extension B-
fig. 6and the wrench C-fig. 7;
– fit the extension B-fig. 6into the
hole;
– fit the wrench C-fig. 7and turn it
counterclockwise to lower the
spare wheel;
❒use the wrench Cto take the wheel
out of the vehicle fig. 7a;
❒loosen the knob D , remove the sup-
port Eand release the wheel.
❒fit the spare wheel making the holes
G-fig. 9coincide with the respective
pins H. Make sure the contact surfaces
between spare wheel and hub are
clean so that the fastening bolts will
not come loose;
❒tighten the 5 fastening bolts;
❒operate the ratchet wrench to lower
the vehicle and remove the jack.
❒fasten bolts completely, working in a
criss-cross fashion as shown in fig. 9.

The moving parts of the jack (screw and
joints) may also cause injury if touched.
Clean off any grease.

To replace a bulb proceed as follows:
❒open the rear swing door and loosen
the two fastening screws A;
❒disconnect the central electric con-
nector B and pull the lens unit out-
wards;
❒loosen the screws using the screw-
driver provided Cand remove the
bulb holder;
❒remove the bulb to replace D, E, For
Gpushing it slightly and turning it
counterclockwise (“bayonet” clamp-
ing) and replace it;
❒refit the bulb holder and tighten the
screws C;
❒reconnect the electric connector B,
suitably refit the unit to the vehicle
body and then tighten the fastening
screws A.

HEAVY-DUTY
Should prevailing use of the vehicle be un-
der one of the following specially heavy
conditions:
❒trailer or caravan towing;
❒dusty roads;
❒short distances (less than 7-8 km) re-
peated and with external tempera-
tures below zero;
❒frequently idling engines or long dis-
tance low speed driving (e.g. door-to-
door deliveries) or in case of a long
term inactivity;
❒driving in the city;
carry out the following checks more fre-
quently than required in the Service
Schedule:
❒check front disk brake pad conditions
and wear;
❒check cleanness of locks, bonnet and
boot and lever cleanness and lubri-
cation;
❒sight inspect the conditions of: engine,
gearbox, transmission, pipes and
hoses (exhaust - fuel - brakes), rub-
ber parts (boots, sleeves, bushes,
etc.);
❒check battery charge and fluid level
(electrolyte);
❒visual check on various drive belt con-
ditions;
❒check and replace pollen filter, if re-
quired;
❒check and replace air cleaner, if re-
quired.
ROUTINE
MAINTENANCE
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys,
check and top up if required:
❒engine coolant fluid level;
❒brake fluid level;
❒windscreen washer fluid level;
❒tyre pressure and conditions;
❒light system operation (headlights, di-
rection indicators, hazard lights, etc.);
❒windscreen wiper/washer operation
and windscreen/rear window blade
position/wear;
Every 3,000 km check and top up if re-
quired: engine oil level.
