Trunk
{CAUTION:
It can be dangerous to drive with the trunk lid
open because carbon monoxide (CO) gas can
come into your vehicle. You cannot see or
smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and
even death. If you must drive with the trunk lid
open or if electrical wiring or other cable
connections must pass through the seal
between the body and the trunk lid:
Make sure all other windows are shut.
Turn the fan on your heating or cooling
system to its highest speed and select the
control setting that will force outside air
into your vehicle. See Climate Control
System.
If you have air outlets on or under the
instrument panel, open them all the way.
SeeEngine Exhaust on page 2-37.
Trunk Lock Release
The remote trunk release
button is located on the
lower portion of the
driver’s door.
To use the remote trunk release, the shift lever must be
in PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N) for a vehicle with an
automatic transmission. The shift lever must be
in NEUTRAL, with the parking brake set for a vehicle
with a manual transmission.
Press the button to open the trunk. You can also press
the button with the trunk symbol on the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter to open the trunk.
If your vehicle is ever without power, you can still access
the trunk area. Use one of the following procedures to
manually open the trunk.
