ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
Front fork assembly
1. Wash the all parts in a clean solvent.
2. Install:
Damper rod 1
To inner tube 2.
CAUTION:
To install the damper rod into the inner
tube, hold the inner tube aslant. If the inner
tube is held vertically, the damper rod may
fall into it, damaging the valve inside.
3. Install:
Copper washer 1
O-ring 2
Base valve 3
To inner tube 4.
4. Tighten:
Base valve 1
NOTE:
Use a damper rod holder 2 to lock the
damper rod 3.
Apply the LOCTITE
® on the base valve
thread.
Damper rod holder:
YM-1423/90890-01423
New

5. Install:
Spring guide 1
Locknut 2
To damper rod 3.
NOTE:
Install the spring guide with its cut a facing
upward.
With its thread b facing upward, fully finger
tighten the locknut onto the damper rod.
6. Install:
Dust seal 1
Stopper ring 2
Oil seal 3
Oil seal washer 4
Slide metal 5
To inner tube 6.
NOTE:
Apply the fork oil on the inner tube.
When installing the oil seal, use vinyl seat a
with fork oil applied to protect the oil seal lip.
Install the oil seal with its manufacture’s
marks or number facing the axle holder side.
Install the oil seal washer with its projections
b facing upward.

7. Install:
Piston metal 1
NOTE:
Install the piston metal onto the slot on inner
tube.

8. Install:
Outer tube 1
To inner tube 2.

21. Measure:

NOTE:
Loosen the rebound damping adjuster finger
tight.
Record the set position of the adjuster (the
amount of turning out the fully turned in posi-
tion).
23. Install:
Cushion rubber 1
Washer 2
Spacer 3
To cap bolt 4.
NOTE:
Install the cushion rubber with its smaller
dia.end a facing the cap bolt.
24. Install:
Push rod 1
Fork spring 2
NOTE:
Install the fork spring with the damper rod 3
pulled up.
After installing the fork spring, hold the
damper rod end so that it will not go down.
25. Install:
Cap bolt 1
Fully tighten the cap bolt onto the damper
rod by hand.

la position vissée à fond).

Entretoise 3
Sur le boulon capuchon 4.
N.B.:
Monter le caoutchouc amortisseur en
orientant son extrémité de plus petit dia-
mètre a vers le boulon capuchon.
24. Monter:
Tige de commande 1
Ressort de fourche 2
N.B.:
Poser le ressort de fourche avec la tige
d’amortissement 3 sortie.
Après avoir monté le ressort de four-
che, maintenir l’extrémité de la tige
d’amortissement de manière qu’elle ne
descende pas.
25. Monter:
Boulon capuchon 1
Serrer à fond manuellement le
boulon capuchon sur la tige
d’amortissement.21. Medir:

Girar la contratuerca.

Anote la posición del regulador (la
cantidad de vueltas a partir de la posi-
ción completamente apretado).
23. Instalar:
Goma amortiguadora 1
Arandela 2
Espaciador 3
Al perno capuchino 4.
NOTA:
Instale la goma amortiguadora con el
extremo de menor diámetro a hacia el
perno capuchino.
24. Instalar:
Barra de empuje 1
Muelle de la horquilla 2
NOTA:
Instale el muelle de la horquilla con la
varilla del amortiguador 3 levantada.
Después de instalar el muelle de la
horquilla, sostenga el extremo de la
varilla del amortiguador de forma que
no baje.
25. Instalar:
Perno capuchino 1
Apriete completamente el perno
capuchino en la varilla del amor-
tiguador, a mano.

While compressing the fork spring, set the
thin type spanners 2 between the spacer 3
and spring guide 4.
Hold the locknut 5 and tighten the cap bolt
with specified torque.

Temporarily tighten the cap bolt.

bracket).
Do not tighten the pinch bolts (handle crown)
yet.

Tighten the ring nut using the ring nut
wrench 3.
Refer to “STEERING HEAD INSPEC-
TION AND ADJUSTMENT” section in the
CHAPTER 3.

5. Check the steering shaft by turning it lock
to lock. If there is any binding, remove the
steering shaft assembly and inspect the
steering bearings.
6. Install:

Hose guide bracket 5
NOTE:
Install the coupler bracket on the outside of
the hose guide bracket.
Temporarily tighten the pinch bolts (under
bracket).
Do not tighten the pinch bolts (handle crown)
yet.
8. Install:

9. Instalar:

10. Después de apretar la tuerca com-
pruebe si la dirección se mueve con
suavidad. Si no es así, ajuste la
dirección aflojando la tuerca anular
poco a poco.
11. Ajustar:

Instale el cuentakilómetros parcial en el
soporte del acoplador 3.
