MAINTENANCE INTERVALS
The following schedule is intended as a general guide to maintenance and lubrication. Bear in mind
that such factors as weather, terrain, geographical location, and individual usage will alter the
required maintenance and lubrication intervals. If you are a doubt as to what intervals to follow in
maintaining and lubricating your machine, consult your Yamaha dealer.

SERVICE NOTES:
No. 1. DRIVE CHAIN: In addition to tension and alignment, chain must be lubricated every
0.5 ~ 1.0 hour. If unit is subjected to extremely hard usage and wet weather riding, chain
must be checked constantly. See “Lubrication Intervals” for additional details.
No. 2. AIR FILTER: Remove and clean filter every 20 ~ 40 hours.
PRE-OPERATION INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
Before riding for break-in operation, practice or a race, make sure the machine is in good operating
condition.
Before using this machine, check the following points.

AIR FILTER CLEANING
1. Install:
Air scoop (right)

Air filter case cover

3. Clean:
Air filter element
Clean them with solvent.
NOTE:
After cleaning, remove the remaining solvent
by squeezing the element.
CAUTION:
Do not twist the element when squeezing
the element.
Leaving too much of solvent in the ele-
ment may result in poor starting.
4. Inspect:

FUNKENLÖSCHER REINIGEN (Nur USA)
WARNUNG
Sicherstellen, daß Krümmer und Schall-
dämpfer abgekühlt sind, bevor der Fun-
kenlöscher gereinigt wird.
Motor beim Reinigen der Auspuffanlage
nicht starten.
1. Demontieren:

Das Auspuffendrohr aus dem Schall-
dämpfer ziehen.
3. Reinigen:
Funkenlöscher
Kohlenstoffablagerungen mit einer Draht-
bürste vom Funkenfängerteil an der Innen-
seite des Schalldämpfers 3 entfernen.
Das Auspuffendrohr leicht anklopfen, und
die Kohlenstoffablagerungen vom Außen-
teil a des Auspuffendrohrs entfernen.
4. Montieren:
Auspuffendrohr
Das Auspuffendrohr in den Schall-
dämpfer setzen, und das Schrauben-
loch ausrichten.

NETTOYAGE DU PARE-ETINCELLES

AVERTISSEMENT
S’assurer que le tuyau et pot d’échappement
sont froids avant d’effectuer le nettoyage du
pare-étincelles.
Ne pas mettre le moteur en marche pendant le
nettoyage du système d’échappement.
1. Déposer:

Sortir la chicane du pot d’échappement.
3. Nettoyer:
Pare-étincelles
Utiliser une brosse à poils métalliques pour
nettoyer les dépôts de calamine de la partie
pare-étincelles de la surface intérieure du
pot d’échappement 3.
Tapoter légèrement la chicane et nettoyer
les dépôts de calamine de la surface exté-
rieure a de la chicane.
4. Installer:
Chicane
Insérer la chicane dans le pot d’échappement
et aligner l’orifice du boulon.
