To adjust the seatback angle of front seats,
pull up the lever on the outboard side of
the seat, move the seatback to the desired
position, and release the lever to lock the

the risk of neck injuries in the case of an
accident.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to recline the seatback
to provide enough overhead clearance to
remove the head restraint.

Adjust the head restraint to the position
which places the center of the head restraint
closest to the top of your ears. If this is not
possible for very tall passengers, adjust the
head restraint as high as possible.

mum protection when seatbacks are in

The word “CENTER” is molded into the
buckle for the rear center belt. The buckles
are designed so a latch plate can not be

When the driver doesn’t buckle his or her
seat belt, the driver’s seat belt reminder light
in the instrument cluster will come on or
blink, as a reminder to the driver to buckle
his or her seat belt.
The reminder will be automatically cancel
when the driver’s seat belt is buckled or the
ignition switch is turned off.
Shoulder Anchor Height Adjuster (if
equipped)Adjust the shoulder anchor height so that
the shoulder belt rides on the center of the
outboard shoulder. To adjust the shoulder
anchor height, slide the anchor up or down
while pushing the lock button. After adjust-
ment, make sure that the anchor is securely
locked.

It is absolutely essential that the
driver and passengers wear their seat
belts at all times. Persons who are not
wearing seat belts have a much
greater risk of injury if an accident
occurs. Make a regular habit of buck-
ling your seat belt before putting the
key in the ignition.

HornPress the horn button of the steering wheel
to sound the horn. The horn will sound with
the ignition switch in any position.EXAMPLE
The lock lever is located under the steering
column. To adjust the steering wheel height:
1) Pull up the lock lever to unlock the
steering column.
2) Adjust the steering wheel to the desired
height and lock the steering column by
push down the lock lever.
3) Try moving the steering wheel up and
down to make sure it is securely locked
in position.

9-17BrakesBrake FluidCheck the brake fluid level by looking at the
reservoir in the engine compartment. Check
that the fluid level is between the “MAX”
and “MIN” lines. If the brake fluid level is
near the “MIN” line, fill it up to the “MAX”
line with Maruti Genuine brake fluid.

can result in personal injury or seri-
ous damage to the brake system.
If the brake fluid in the reservoir
drops below a certain level, the
brake warning light on the instru-
ment panel will come on (the engine

comes on, immediately contact your
MARUTI SUZUKI dealer to inspect
the brake system.
A rapid fluid loss indicates a leak in
the brake system which should be
inspected by your MARUTI SUZUKI
dealer immediately.
Brake fluid can harm your eyes and
damage painted surfaces. Use cau-
tion when refilling the reservoir.
Do not use any fluid other than
specified brake fluid. Do not use
reclaimed fluid or fluid that has
been stored in old or open contain-
ers. It is essential that foreign parti-
cles and other liquids are kept out
of the brake fluid reservoir.

Brake fluid is harmful or fatal if swal-
lowed, and harmful if it comes in con-
tact with skin or eyes. If swallowed,
do not induce vomiting. Immediately
contact a poison control center or a
physician. If brake fluid gets in eyes,
flush eyes with water and seek medi-
cal attention. Wash thoroughly after
handling. Solution can be poisonous

children and animals.NOTE:
With disc brakes, the fluid level can be
expected to gradually fall as the brake pads
wear.Brake PedalCheck if the brake pedal stops at the regu-
lar height without “spongy” feeling when you
depress it. If not, have the brake system
inspected by your MARUTI SUZUKI dealer.
If you doubt the brake pedal for the regular
height, check it as follows:
