maintenance is performed. Section 5 of this Owner's Manual

and a wide variety of automobile components
contain or emit chemicals known to the State of
California to cause cancer and birth defects and
other reproductive harm. In addition, oils, fuels and
fluids contained in vehicles as well as waste
produced by component wear contain or emit
chemicals known to the State of California to cause
cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Battery posts, terminals and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds. Wash your hands
after handling. Used engine oil contains chemicals
that have caused cancer in laboratory animals.
Always protect your skin by washing thoroughly with
soap and water.

NOTICE
Make sure the positive side and negative side of thebattery are faced correctly.
Do not replace the battery with wet hands. Water maycause unexpected rust.
Do not touch or move any components inside thetransmitter, or it may interfere with proper operation.
Be careful not to bend the electrode when insertingthe battery and that dust or oils do not adhere to theinside of the module.
Take care not to lose the screws and O±ring.
5. Install the lid with the 2 screws.
NOTICE
Take care not to damage or bend the O±ring wheninstalling.
6. Install the module into the key frame and secure the cover
with the screw.
7. When pushing any switch on the wireless key, make sure
the indicator light comes on.
DOORS
Locking with key

1Lock 2Unlock
Turn the key towards the front of the vehicle to lock and
towards the back to unlock.
Locking (or unlocking) the driver's door will lock (or unlock) all
the other doors simultaneously. In the driver's door lock,
turning the key once will unlock the driver's door and twice in
succession will unlock all doors simultaneously.*
Together with the activation of unlocking, the interior light will
turn on for 15 seconds if the interior light switch is in the
ªDOORº position.** However, this function does not work when
the ignition key is in the ªONº position. For further information,
see ªInterior lightº on page 60.

(e) Discharge Warning Light
This light warns that the battery is being discharged.
If it comes on while you are driving, stop the vehicle, turn off the
engine, and check for the cause. Look first at the engine drive
belt.
If it is loose or broken, the generator will not charge the
battery properly.
 If the belt is O.K., there is a problem somewhere in the
charging system.
The engine ignition will continue to operate, however, until the
battery is discharged. Turn off the air conditioning, blower,
radio, etc., and drive directly to the nearest Lexus dealer or
repair shop.
NOTICE
Do not continue driving if the engine drive belt is broken or loose.
(f) Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light
This light warns that the engine oil pressure is too low.
If it flickers or stays on while you are driving, pull off the road
to a safe place and stop the engine immediately. Call a Lexus
dealer or qualified repair shop for assistance.
The light may occasionally flicker when the engine is idling or
it may come on briefly after a hard stop. There is no cause for
concern if it then goes out when the engine is accelerated
slightly.
The light may come on when the oil level is extremely low. It is
not designed to indicate low oil level, and the oil level must be
checked using the oil level dipstick.
NOTICE
Do not drive the vehicle with the warning light on ± evenfor one block. It may ruin the engine.

(g) Low Engine Oil Level Warning Light
This light warns that the engine oil level is too low. Add oil as
soon as possible. (For instructions, see ªChecking the engine
oil levelº on page 333.)
While driving on steep inclines or rough roads which causes
the vehicle to substantially sway or on curves, this light may
come on due to the movement of engine oil in the engine.
In normal conditions, due to engine oil consumption, this light
may come on earlier than the specified service interval of the
scheduled maintenance. This is because the engine oil is
consumed to the low level within the scheduled maintenance
interval and does not indicate a problem. (For detailed
information, see ªFacts about engine oil consumptionº on page
331.)
NOTICE
Continued engine operation with low engine oil will damage the engine.
(h) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light acts as a reminder to replace the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to the
ªONº position and will go off after about a few seconds. When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after the
engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3
seconds and then flashes for about 12 seconds with the
ignition key turned to the ªONº position. If you continue driving
without replacing the engine oil, and if the distance driven
exceeds 8000 km (5
000 miles), the light will come on after the
ignition key is turned to the ªONº position. The light will remain
on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the
engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and
road conditions. If the light comes on, replace it as soon as
possible.
The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement.
Reset the system by the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ªOFFº position with the odometer
reading shown. (For details, see ªOdometer and trip meterº on
page 48.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the ªONº position while holding down
the ªODO/TRIPº button.
Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The odometer
indicates ª000000º and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the system will revert to the state
before resetting operation. In this case, return to step 1 and try
again.

AUDIO
210(c) Your radio antenna
To remove an antenna, carefully turn it counterclockwise.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the antenna, make sure it is
removed before driving your vehicle through anautomatic car wash.
(d) Your cassette player
When you insert a cassette, the exposed tape should be to the
right.
NOTICE
Do not oil any part of the cassette player, and do not insert anything except a cassette tape into the slot.
(e) Your automatic changer (with six CD changer only)
SV22071
Your automatic changer can be store up to 6 CDs and play
selected CDs or continuously play all the CDs set in the player.
When you set CDs into the player, make sure their labels face
up. If not, the player will display ªERR 1º and the CD number.
NOTICE
Do not stack up two CDs for insertion, or it will cause
damage to the CD changer. Insert only one CD intoslot at a time.
Never try to disassemble or oil any part of the CDplayer. Do not insert anything other than CDs into theslot.
Do not insert a CD upon another one.
The player is intended for use with 12 cm (4.7 in.) CDs only.
