The air conditioner filter is located in front of the
evaporator unit behind the glove box.
It operates to decrease pollutants from entering
the car and to filter the air.
To replace the air conditioner filter, refer to the
page 6-15.
B980C02L-AATDefrost SwitchWhen the "Defrost" button is pressed, the " "
mode will be automatically selected and the air
will be discharged through the windshield de-
frost nozzle, side defroster nozzle and side
ventilator. To assist in defrosting the air condi-
tioning will operate if ambient temperature is
higher than 38.3°F (3.5°C) and automatically
turns off if the ambient temperature drops below
38.3°F (3.5°C).

Floor-Defrost Level
When selecting the "Floor-Defrost" mode, the
indicator light will come on and the air will be
discharged through the windshield defrost vents,
the floor vents, side defroster nozzle side ven-
tilator .

get in, open the windows for a few minutes
to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air conditioning
system, keep all windows closed to keep hot
air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy traffic, shift
to a lower gear. This increases engine speed,
which in turn increases the speed of the air
conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air conditioning off
to avoid the possibility of the engine over-
heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the
air conditioning is not used regularly, run the
air conditioning once every month for a few
minutes. This will help circulate the lubri-
cants and keep your system in peak oper-
ating condition.

CAUTION:
o Replace the filter every 12,000 miles
(20,000 km) or once a year.
If the car is being driven in severe condi-
tions such as dusty, rough roads, more
frequent air conditioner filter inspec-
tions and changes are required.
o When the air flow rate is decreased, it
must be checked at an authorized
Hyundai dealer.
o If your vehicle is not equipped with this
filter, it can be installed by your dealer.

correct heat range.F060H01A-AATo Air cleaner filterA Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is recom-
mended when the filter is replaced.F060G01A-AATo Vapor Hose and Fuel Filler CapThe vapor hose and fuel filler cap should be
inspected at those intervals specified in the
maintenance schedule. Make sure that a new
vapor hose or fuel filler cap is correctly re-
placed.
F060F01A-AATo Vacuum, Crankcase
Ventilation HosesInspect the surface of hoses for evidence of
heat and/or mechanical damage. Hard and
brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions,
and excessive swelling indicate deterioration.
Particular attention should be paid to examine
those hose surfaces nearest to high heat
sources, such as the exhaust manifold.Inspect the hose routing to assure that the
hoses do not come in contact with any heat
source, sharp edges or moving component
which might cause heat damage or mechanical
wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as
clamps and couplings, to make sure they are
secure, and that no leaks are present. Hoses
should be replaced immediately if there is any
evidence of deterioration or damage.F060D01A-AATo Fuel Lines, Fuel Hoses and Connec-
tionsCheck the fuel lines, fuel hoses and connec-
tions for leakage and damage. Have a trained
technician replace any damaged or leaking
parts immediately.
F060C01A-AATo Fuel FilterA clogged filter can limit the speed at which the
vehicle may be driven, damage the emission
system and cause hard starting. If an exces-
sive amount of foreign matter accumulates in
the fuel tank, the filter may require replacement
more frequently.
After installing a new filter, run the engine for
several minutes, and check for leaks at the
connections. Fuel filters should be installed by
