o Timing belt Inspect all parts related to the timing belt for damage and deformation. Replace any damaged parts immedi- ately. F060G01A-EAT
o Vapour hose and fuel filler cap The vapour hose and fuel filler cap should be inspected at those intervals specified in the maintenance sched-ule. Make sure that a new vapour hose or fuel filler cap is correctly replaced. F060F02A-AAT
o Crankcase ventilation hoses
Inspect the surface of hoses for evi-
dence of heat and/or mechanical dam-age. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessiveswelling indicate deterioration. Particu- lar attention should be paid to examine those hose surfaces nearest to highheat sources, such as the exhaust manifold.
Inspect the hose routing to assure that
the hoses do not come in contact with any heat source, sharp edges or mov-ing component which might cause heat damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clampsand couplings, to make sure they are secure, and that no leaks are present. Hoses should be replaced immedi-ately if there is any evidence of dete- rioration or damage. F060H01A-AAT
o Air cleaner filter
A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is
recommended when filter is replaced.

o Spark plugs (For petrol engine)
Make sure to install new spark plugs
of the correct heat range. F070B01A-AAT
o Cooling system
Check the cooling system part, such as radiator, coolant reservoir, hosesand connections for leakage and dam- age. Replace any damaged parts.

o Coolant
The coolant should be changed at
the intervals specified in the mainte- nance schedule. F070D01HP-AAT
o Manual transmission oil
Inspect the manual transmission oil according to the maintenance sched- ule.
NOTE: If the oil level is low, check forpossible leaks before adding oil. Do not overfill. F070E02HP-GAT
o Automatic transmission fluid and filter
The fluid level should be in the "HOT"
range of the dipstick, after engine and transmission and filter are at normal operating temperature. Check the Au-tomatic and filter Transmission and filter Fluid level with the engine running and the transmission and filter inneutral, with the parking brake properly applied. Use MOBIL DEXRON-II when adding or changing fluid.

o Brake hoses and lines
Visually check for proper installation,
chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. F070G02A-AAT o Brake fluid Check brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4. F070H01HP-AAT
o Rear brake linings, pad and parking brake Check the rear brake linings and pads for scoring, burning, leaking fluid, bro-ken parts, and excessive wear. In- spect the parking brake system in- cluding the parking brake lever andcables. For detailed service proce- dures, refer to the Shop Manual.

Coolant Level The engine coolant level may be observed through the side of the plas-tic coolant reservoir (expansion tank) when the engine is cold. If the level is below the "LOW" mark, add coolantof the correct concentration until the level is between the "LOW" and "FULL" marks. If the level falls belowthe "LOW" mark on a regular basis despite being topped up, consult a Hyundai dealer. HPG050D2-E
To Change the Coolant
The coolant should be changed atthose intervals specified in the ve- hicle maintenance schedule in Sec- tion 5. NOTE: Care should be taken to ensure that coolant is not allowed to spill onto the paintwork since the fin- ish may become damaged. If cool-ant spillage occurs, the affected area should be rinsed thoroughly with water.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and ensure that the parking brake is firmly applied, and the engine allowed to cool.Do not attempt this operation whilstthe engine is hot since burning orscalding may result.
2. Prepare a suitable receptacle to
collect the displaced coolant andposition this under the radiator drain tap. NOTE: Petrol Engine Only
Before adding the coolant to the
radiator, unscrew the bolts on theengine cover, remove the engine cover and unscrew the flange boltfor fitting water outlet to escape the excess pressure. And if the coolant overflows from the hole whilst add-ing the coolant, screw the bolt and continue to add the coolant.

3. With the heater temperature control set to the "HOT" position, remove the radiator cap and open the radia-tor drain tap. 4. When the engine coolant has drained
completely, close the drain tap en-suring that this is not over tight- ened.
5. Prepare a suitable quantity of new engine coolant (refer to section 9)and pour this into the radiator.
6. Start the engine with the radiator cap still removed and continue to add coolant as the level decreases as air is expelled from the system. When the level remains constant,replace the radiator cap and replen- ish the coolant reservoir.
7. When the engine is hot, check to ensure that no coolant leaks are present.

!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and maysometimes operate even when the engine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near theblades of the cooling fan so that you are not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem-perature decreases, the fan will au- tomatically shut off. This is a nor- mal condition.

CAUTION:
Engine coolant anti freeze must not be used in the windscreen washersystem since damage to the paintwork may result. Undiluted windscreen washer addi- tive must not be allowed to come into contact with the paintwork. If spillage occurs, flush the affectedarea immediately with water. Do not operate the windscreen washer for more than 15 seconds continu- ously or when the reservoir is empty since damage to the washerpump will result. The transmission lubricant should be
checked and/or changed at intervalsspecified in the maintenance sched-ule. Recommended Lubricant
Use only HYUNDAI GENUINE
PARTS MTF 75W/90 (API GL-4). CAUTION:
The transmission lubricant level
should only be checked when the engine is cold to prelude the pos- sibility of personal injury by con-tact with hot components.
1. To check the transmission lubricant level, the vehicle should be placed on level ground and the level plug removed with a suitable spanner.
2. If the level is correct, lubricant should begin to drip from the plug orifice. In this case the plug shouldbe replaced.If the level is incorrect, lubricantshould be added until it begins todrip from the plug orifice at which time the plug should be replaced.
