SB040F2-E CHILD-PROOF REAR DOOR LOCK The rear doors are fitted with child proof locks to prevent accidental opening of the doorsusing the inside door handle, whilst allowingaccess by means of the outside handle (suchas is required in the event of an acccident forexample) provided that the door lock button isat the unlocked position. Use of the child prooflock mechanism is recommended when chil-dren are carried in the vehicle. The child proof lock mechanism may be activated by opening the door and moving thelever located by the door latch to the " "position. Move the lever to the " " positionwhen normal door operation is desired.

To lock the doors from inside, simply close the
door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position.
When this is done, the door cannot be using
either the inside or the outside door handle.
NOTE:When the door is locked, the red mark on

B040C01FC-GAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors from the outside, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position,so that the red mark on the switch is notvisible, then close the door.The door will not lock if the key is left in theignition switch when the front doors are closed.This is normal. (If installed) NOTE:
o When locking the door this way, be
careful not to lock the door with the ignition key left in the vehicle.
o To reduce the possibility of theft, al- ways remove the ignition key, close allwindows, and lock all doors and tailgate when leaving your vehicle unat-tended.

SB060A1-E DOOR WINDOWS The front door windows may be opened or closed by turning the window regulator handle.Ensure that when the windows are closed,nothing may become trapped between theglass and the door frame. WARNING: When opening or closing the windows, make sure your passenger's arms andhands are safety out of the way.B060A02E-EAT
POWER WINDOWS (Not all models) The power windows operate when the ignition key is in the "ON" position. The main switchesare located on the driver's armrest and control the front and rear windows on both sides of the vehicle. The windows may be opened bydepressing the appropriate window switch andclosed by pulling up the switch. To open thewindow on the driver's side, press the switch(1)down. The window moves as long as theswitch is operated.

Replacement instructions:
1. Separate the case with a blade screw- driver as shown in the illustration.
2. Remove the old battery from the case and note the polarity. Make sure the polarity of the new battery is the same(+side facingdown), then insert it in the transmitter.

1- 8 The front seat rake adjustment is performed by raising the lever at the front of the seatbase and sliding the seat to the desired posi-tion. At this position the lever should be re-leased and the seat rocked to and fro toensure that the mechanism has locked. WARNING: To ensure the seat is locked securely,attempt to move the seat forward or rear-ward without using the lock release lever.

SEAT ADJUSTMENT WARNING:
Front seat adjustments must not be under-
taken whilst the vehicle is in motion. Loss of control of the vehicle may result if seatadjustments are made whilst the vehicle isin motion.
WARNING:
1) Be careful that someone's head, hands
and body are not trapped by a closing window.
2) Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's door and the individual doorwindow switch in opposing directionsat the same time. If this is done, thewindow will stop and cannot be openedor closed.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car. Always remove the ignition key for theirsafety.
In order to prevent operation of the passengerfront and rear windows, a window lock switchis provided on the armrest of the driver's door.To disable the power windows, press thewindow lock switch. To return to normal operation, press the window lock switch a second time. Auto-Down Window (Driver's Side) The Auto-Down window is moved to its fully open position by pushing the switch. To stopat the desired loction, the switch must bepulled up.

1- 40 SB240A1-E HAZARD WARNING SYSTEM The hazard warning system should be used whenever it becomes necessary to stop thecar in a hazardous location. The hazard warn-ing system is operated by depressing theswitch at which time all turn signal lights willflash simultaneously and the turn signal warn-ing lights located within the instrument clusterwill flash simultaneously. The hazard warning system may be turned off by depressing the switch again.
B350C01FC-DAT Adjustable Intermittent Wiper Operation To use the intermittent wiper feature, place the wiper switch in the "INT" position. With theswitch in this position, the interval betweenwipes can be varied from approximately 1 to18 seconds by turning the interval adjusterbarrel.

1. : The washer fluid will be sprayed onto the rear window and the wiper oper- ates whilst the rear window wiperbarrel is placed in this position.

4.ON : When the point indicates "ON", therear window wiper operates continu-ously.

SB250A1-E HEATED REAR WINDOW To operate the heated rear window depress the switch shown. The heated rear windowwill automatically turn off after 20 minutes orwhen the ignition is turned off. The system may be turned off manually by depressing the switch again. CAUTION: The inside of the rear windscreen shouldnever be cleaned with a hard or sharp imple-ment since damage to the heating elementmay occur. The glass should only be cleanedwith a soft cloth or chamois leather with theuse only of a mild detergent or proprietaryglass cleaner where necessary. Only hori-zontal movement of the cloth should bemade when cleaning the glass and careshould be exercised to ensure that the heat-ing elements are not damaged by rings orjewellery whilst the glass is being cleaned. B360A01Y-GAT REAR FOG LIGHT SWITCH To turn on the rear fog lights, push the switch. They will come on when the headlight switchis in the second position and the key is in the"ON" position.

SB360C1-F FOLDING THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS To fold the outside rear view mirrors, push them towards the rear. The outside rear view mirrors can be folded rearward for parking in restricted areas. WARNING: Do not adjust or fold the outside rear view mirrors whilst the vehicle is moving. Thiscould result in loss of control, and anaccident causing death, serious injury orproperty damage.

CAUTION:
o Do not leave the switch on for an unnecessary length of time.
o Scraping ice from the mirror face could cause permanent damage. To remove any ice, use a sponge, soft cloth orapproved deicer.
o Be careful when judging the size or dis- tance of any object seen in the passen-ger side rear view mirror. It is a convexmirror with a curved surface, any ob-jects seen in this mirror are closer thanthey appear.

The outside rearview mirror heater is actuated in connection with the rear window defroster.To heat the outside rearview mirror glass,push in the switch for the rear window de-froster. The rearview mirror glass will be heatedfor defrosting or defogging and will give youimproved rear vision in inclement weatherconditions. Push the switch again to turn theheater off. The outside rearview mirror heaterautomatically turns itself off after 20 minutes. HFC2080-D

CONTROLS AND EQUIPMENTSB380A1-E PARKING BRAKE The parking brake must always be set when the vehicle is to be left unattended. When theparking brake is applied, and the ignition keyis at the "ON" position, the parking brakewarning light will be illuminated. Before drivingthe vehicle, the parking brake must be fullyreleased and the warning light extinguished.
o To set the parking brake, apply the foot brake and pull the parking brake lever up with the button depressed. Release thebutton when the brake is fully applied.
o To release the parking brake, apply the foot brake and pull up the parking brakelever slightly. Depress the button and lowerthe lever.

INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR
The interior mirror is of the day/night type to
enable the glare of headlights from followingvehicles to be eliminated during night timedriving.
The tab located at the bottom of the mirror
should be set to the position nearest thewindscreen for normal day time driving, andflipped towards the rear of the vehicle toeliminate glare during night time driving. Toadjust the field of vision, the mirror may bemoved by hand upon the mounting.
NOTE:The mirror should always be adjusted prior
to setting the vehicle in motion.

HIGH-MOUNTED REAR STOP LIGHT
In addition to the lower-mounted rear stop-
lights on either side of the car, the high
mounted rear stoplight in the centre of the rearwindow or inserted in the rear spoiler alsolights when the brakes are applied. CAUTION:
o Only use the power outlet when the engine is running. Remove the electri-cal appliance from the power outletwhen not in use. Failure to adhere tothis advice may result in a dischargedbattery after several hours.
o Do not use the power outlet to connect electric accessories or equipment otherthan those designed to operate on 12volts.

SUN-VISOR
Sun visors are fitted to both the driver and
passenger side of the vehicle. Certain deriva-tives are equipped with a vanity mirror whichis located on the back of the driver andpassenger visor. The visor may be lowered toreduce the amount of glare from directly ahead,or may be moved towards the side window toreduce glare from the side of the vehicle, oncethe inner pivot has been unclipped from thebracket.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
label containing useful information can be found on the back of each sun visor.
WARNING: Do not place the sun-visor in such a man-

Vanity mirror
To adjust the steering wheel:
1. Push the lever downward to unlock.
2. Raise or lower the steering wheel to the
desired position.
3. After adjustment, securely tighten the lever by pulling it upward
WARNING: Do not attempt to adjust the steeringwheel whilst driving as this may result inloss of control of the vehicle and result indeath or serious injury.
