For the cigar lighter to work, the key must be
in the "ACC" or the "ON" position. To use the cigar lighter, push the lighter all the
way into its socket. When the element is heated, the lighter will pop out into the "ready"position.
Do not hold the cigar lighter at the depressed
position which may result in damage to thevehicle wiring or an electrical fire.
If it is necessary to replace the cigarette
lighter, use only a genuine Hyundai replace-ment part. CAUTION:
Do not use electric accessories or equip-
ment other than the Hyundai genuine parts in the socket. The front ashtray may be opened by pulling itup by its top edge. To remove the ashtray toempty or clean it, pull the cover up all the wayout. The ashtray light will only illuminate whenthe external lights are on.B430A01FC-GAT
FRONT ASHTRAY
There are three control buttons for the digitalclock. Their functions are: HOUR - Push "H" to advance the hour indicat-
ed. MIN - Push "M" to advance the minute indicat-
ed.RESET - Push "R" to reset minutes to ":00" to
facilitate resetting the clock to the correct time. When this is done: Pressing "R" between 10 : 30 and 11 : 29 changes the readout to 11 : 00. Pressing "R" between 11 : 30 and 12 : 29 changes the readout to 12 : 00.

SUNROOF (Not all models)
To adjust the headlight beam level according
to the number of the passengers and the loading weight in the luggage area, turn thebeam leveling switch.
The higher the number of the switch position,
the lower the headlight beam level. Alwayskeep the headlight beam at the proper level-ing position, or headlights may dazzle otherroad users.
Listed below are the examples of recom-
mended switch settings. For loading condi-tions other than those listed below, adjust theswitch position so that the beam level may bethe nearest as the condition obtained accord-ing to the list.

sunshade which may be used whilst the sunroof is at the closed position to obscureincoming light. The sunshade is automatically opened when- ever the sunroof is opened but must be man-ually closed by sliding forward after the sunroofis closed. When the sunroof is opened, the wind deflec- tor will automatically rise to the upper positionand will automatically retract when the sunroofis closed. WARNING: Never install or remove the sunshadewhilst driving. To open the sunroof, depress and hold the
button indicated. The button should be re- leased when the sunroof is at the fully openposition. The sunroof may be closed by de-pressing and holding the button indicated. Thebutton should be released when the sunroofis at the fully closed position.

The electrically operated sunroof may be used only whilst the ignition switch is at the"ON" position. The sunroof is equipped with a

SB330C1-E Tilting the Sunroof SystemThe sunroof can be tilted and closed by de- pressing the button indicated. Release thebutton when the sunroof reaches the up posi-tion. NOTE: The sunroof should not be opened when water or standing rain is on the roof panel.Driving the vehicle for a short distance willallow the water to disperse naturally atwhich point the sunroof may be opened.
2. Turn the hexagonal bolts with a socketwrench counterclockwise to remove thefront overhead console.
3. Insert the hexagonal head wrench pro- vided with the vehicle into the socket. Thiswrench can be found in the vehicle's lug-gage room or glove box.

If the sunroof fails to operate:
1. Remove the rectangular plastic interior light lenses in the front overhead console.

4. Turn the wrench clockwise to open or counterclockwise to close.
CAUTION:
o Do not open the sunroof in severe cold
temperature or when it is covered with ice or snow.
o Periodically remove any dirt that may have accumulated on the guide rails.
WARNING:
o Ensure that the sunroof and guide rails are clear of obstructions before closing the sunroof and ensure that nothingmay become entrapped between thesunroof panel and the vehicle bodywhilst the sunroof is being closed.
o Do not stand up or extend any portion of your body out of the opening whilstthe vehicle is moving.

1- 46 The interior courtesy light has a button of
three positions.
The three positions are:
oDR In the "DR" position, the interior courtesy light
comes on when any door is opened regard- less of the ignition key position. The light goesout when the door is closed.
oON
In the "ON" position, the light stays on at all
times. CAUTION:
Do not leave the switch in this position

SPECTACLE CASE (Not all models)

The spectacle case is located on the front
overhead console.
Push the end of the cover to open the spec-
tacle case.
WARNING: Do not open the spectacle case whilst the
vehicle is moving. The rear view mirror of the vehicle can be blocked by an openspectacle case.

The lights may be operated by depressing the switch to turn on the light and pressing againto turn off the light. This light produces a spotbeam for convenient use as a map light atnight or as a personal light for the driver or thepassenger.

B500A01A-EAT GLOVE BOX WARNING: To avoid the possibility of injury, the glove box lid must be kept closed whilst the vehicle is in motion.
o To open the glove box, pull the glove box release lever. The multi box may be opened by pulling it out by its grip. It is used for storing small commodities.If the multi box is removed, the fuse box for the lights and other electrical accessories willbe exposed.

B510B01FC-EAT EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR Electric Type The outside rear view mirror can be adjusted in any direction to give the maximum rear viewvision. The remote control outside rear view mirror switch controls the adjustments for passengerside door mirror. To adjust the position of either mirror:
1. Move the selecting switch to the "L" (or
"R") position to activate the adjustable mechanism for the adjusting door mirror.
2. Now, adjust mirror angle by depressing the appropriate directional switch as illustrated.

When theparking brake is applied, and the ignition keyis at the "ON" position, the parking brakewarning light will be illuminated. Before drivingthe vehicle, the parking brake must be fullyreleased and the warning light extinguished.
o To set the parking brake, apply the foot brake and pull the parking brake lever up with the button depressed. Release thebutton when the brake is fully applied.
o To release the parking brake, apply the foot brake and pull up the parking brakelever slightly. Depress the button and lowerthe lever.

INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR
The interior mirror is of the day/night type to
enable the glare of headlights from followingvehicles to be eliminated during night timedriving.
The tab located at the bottom of the mirror
should be set to the position nearest thewindscreen for normal day time driving, andflipped towards the rear of the vehicle toeliminate glare during night time driving. Toadjust the field of vision, the mirror may bemoved by hand upon the mounting.
NOTE:The mirror should always be adjusted prior
to setting the vehicle in motion.

HIGH-MOUNTED REAR STOP LIGHT
In addition to the lower-mounted rear stop-
lights on either side of the car, the high
mounted rear stoplight in the centre of the rearwindow or inserted in the rear spoiler alsolights when the brakes are applied. CAUTION:
o Only use the power outlet when the engine is running. Remove the electri-cal appliance from the power outletwhen not in use. Failure to adhere tothis advice may result in a dischargedbattery after several hours.
o Do not use the power outlet to connect electric accessories or equipment otherthan those designed to operate on 12volts.

BONNET RELEASE
Pull the release lever inside the vehicle to
unlatch the bonnet. At the front of the vehicle, push the safety catch lever sidewards asshown and raise the bonnet by hand. Supportthe bonnet by means of the bonnet prop. Before closing the bonnet, ensure that the
prop is correctly stowed. Lower the bonnet byhand to a position of approximately 30cm fromthe closed position and allow the bonnet todrop. Do not attempt to close the bonnet bylowering the panel to the closed position andpressing upon the panel work since this mayresult in damage to the panel. CAUTION:Ensure that the bonnet prop has beenremoved prior to closing the bonnet. Al-ways check to ensure that the bonnet haslatched prior to setting the vehicle in mo-tion. WARNING: The bonnet prop must be correctly in- serted into the panel to prevent the possi-bility of injury arising from the bonnetfalling.

REMOTE FUEL FILLER FLAP
RELEASE (Not all models) The fuel filler flap may be opened from inside
the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel filler flap release.
NOTE: If the fuel filler flap will not open because
ice has formed around it, tap lightly or push on it to break the ice and release it.Do not lever the flap. If necessary, sprayaround the flap with an approved deicerfluid (do not use radiator anti-freeze) ormove the vehicle to a warm place andallow the ice to melt.

WARNING: The tail gate should always be kept com-
pletely closed whilst the vehicle is in motion. If it is left open or ajar, poisonousexhaust gases may enter the car resultingin serious illness or death to the occu-pants. See additional warnings concerningexhaust gases on page 2-1.
o The tail gate can be locked or unlocked with a key.
o The tail gate is opened by pulling the outside handle up, raising the tail gate manually.
o To close, lower the tail gate, then press down on it until it is closed. To be sure thetail gate is fully closed, always try to pull itup again without using the outside handle. LOCK

When releasing the fillercap, a small amount of residual pressuremay generate a slight hissing sound whichis not indicative of an abnormality. In theevent of the fuel filler cap requiring re-placement, only a Genuine Hyundai re-placement part should be used to preventfuel leakage.
