G040A01TB-EAT ENGINE OIL AND FILTER REPLACEMENT
The engine oil and filter must be changed at the time or mileage interval specifiedin the maintenance schedule. If the vehicle is operated under severe or adverse conditions, the oil and filtermust be replaced more frequently. To replace the oil and filter, proceed as follows:
1. Ensure that the engine is at normaloperating temperature and park the vehicle on level ground with the park- ing brake securely applied and the engine turned off.
2. Open the bonnet and remove the oil filler cap.

With the engine idling and the footbrake applied, the transaxle selector shouldbe moved from the "P" or "N" position through to the "L" position and back to the "N" or "P" position.Open the bonnet and remove the transaxle dipstick, remembering that care must be exercised to prevent in-jury occurring through contact with hot or rotating parts of the engine.

Fluid level should be within "HOT" range
HTB164 Wipe the dipstick, replace it fully and promptly remove it again. The fluid level should be between the upper and lower marks. Fluid need only be added if the level is at or below the lower markand must never be increased above the higher mark. If additional fluid is re- quired, this should be poured into thetransmission through the dipstick tube with the aid of a suitable funnel. WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by en-gine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so that youare not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will auto-matically shut off. This is a normal condition.
WARNING (Diesel only):
Never work on injection system with engine running or within 30 seconds after shutting off engine. High pres- sure pump, rail, injectors and highpressure pipes are subject to high pressure even after the engine stopped. The fuel jet produced byfuel leaks may cause serious injury, if it touch the body. People using pacemakers should not move than30cm closer to the ECU or wiring harness within the engine room while engine is running, since the high

SH010A1-E EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS (Not all models) Depending upon the market for which the vehicle is destined, the emissioncontrol system will comprise one or more of the following emission con- trol devices.

1. CRANKCASE EMISSION
CONTROLSYSTEM
The positive crankcase ventilation
system is employed to prevent airpollution caused by blow-by gasesbeing emitted from the crankcase by introducing fresh air to the crankcase through the air cleaner where thismixes with blow-by gases and then passes through the PCV valve into the intake manifold from where it sub-sequently enters the combustion chamber and is burned.

System is designed to prevent fuel vapours from escaping into the atmo- sphere through the fuel tank ventila- tion system.

However, since it is possible to lock the doors without the use of the key, care shouldbe exercised to ensure that the key does not become locked inside the vehicle by mistake. NOTE: If you make your own duplicate key, you will not be able to cancel thesystem or start the engine. B880C02A-GAT Key Numbers
B880C01LThe vehicle key number is recorded upon a metal tag attached to the keys when the vehicle is first delivered toyou. The key number should be recorded and kept in a safe place in case theneed to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundai dealer by quoting the relevant key num-ber. In the interest of security, the metal tag attached to the keys which bears thekey number should be removed from the key ring after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key numbers can-not be provided by Hyundai for security reasons. If you need additional keys or if youshould lose your keys, your authorized Hyundai dealer can make new keys.

CAUTION:
When staring the engine, do not use the key with other immobilizer keys around. Otherwise the engine may not start or may stop soon after itstarts. Keep each key separately not to have any malfunction after you receiveyour new vehicle.

LOCK!WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (es- pecially if there are children inthe car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inad-vertently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that doors will not be opened accidentally. Also,when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants frombeing ejected from the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident, the door is unlocked automatically (If In-stalled). o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle andunlock it by turning the key toward the rear. B040C01FC-GAT Locking From the Outside
The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors from the outside, first push the inside lock switch to the"LOCK" position, so that the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door.The door will not lock if the key is left in the ignition switch when the front doors close. This is normal. (If installed) NOTE:
o When locking the door this way, be careful not to lock the door with the ignition key left in thevehicle. HTB062-1

WARNING:
o When you return the folded down seatback to its upright position, make sure the seat belts are in position to be accessible and tofunction properly.
o When you return the folded down
seatback to its upright position,be careful not to get your fingers or legs in.
o The purpose of the fold down rear seatback and the fold for-ward rear seat cushion is to in- crease cargo space. Do not allowpassengers to sit in the cargo area while the car is moving. This is not a proper seating positionand no seat belts are available for use when the seatback is folded down. Passengers whoare not properly seated and wear- ing seat belts could sustain seri- ous injuries or death in case ofan accident or a sudden stop.
