B160D01A-AAT When to Replace Seat Belts entire in-use seat belt assembly or assemblies should be replaced if thevehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. This should be done even if no damage is visible. Additional ques-tions concerning seat belt operation should be directed to your Hyundai Dealer. B170A04A-AAT HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE FRONT SEAT SHOULDER BELT(If installed) If the height of the adjusting seat belt is too near your neck, you will not begetting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be adjusted so that it lies across yourchest and midway over your shoulder nearest the door and not your neck. To adjust the height of the seat beltanchor, lower or raise the height ad- juster into an appropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. Tolower it, push it down while pressing the height adjuster button. Release the button to lock the anchor
into position. Try sliding the height adjuster to make sure that it has locked into the position.
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicle is moving.
o The misadjustment of height of
the shoulder belt could reducethe effectiveness of the seat belt in a crash.

B160A01A-GAT CARE OF SEAT BELTS Seat belt systems should never be disassembled or modified. In addition,care should be taken to assure that seat belts and belt hardware are not damaged by seat hinges, doors orother abuse. B160B01A-AAT Periodic Inspection It is recommended that all seat belts be inspected periodically for wear or damage of any kind. Parts of the sys-tem that are damaged should be re- placed as soon as possible. B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can be cleaned by using a mild soap solutionand warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not be used because they may damage andweaken the fabric.

B210A01A-AAT To Release the Seat Belt The seat belt is released by pressing the release button in the locking buckle. When it is released, the belt shouldautomatically draw back into the re- tractor. If this does not happen, check the beltto be sure it is not twisted, then try again.CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM

Accordingto accident statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats than in the front seat. Largerchildren not in a child restraint should use one of the seat belts provided. You are required by law to use safetyrestraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and ba-bies, a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits yourcar and seat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manufacturer when installing thechild restraint system.

If the belt is located too high onyour body, you could slide under it in case of accident or a sudden stop. This could result of death, seriousinjury or property damage. Your Hyundai is equipped with a side impact airbag in each front seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle's driver and/or the front pas-senger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. The side impact airbags are designed todeploy only during certain side-impact collisions, depending on the crash se- verity, angle, speed and point of im-pact. The side impact airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.
!WARNING:
o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and the passenger's seat belt systems and is not a substitute for them. Therefore your seat belts mustbe worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion. The airbags deploy only in certain side im-pact conditions severe enough to cause significant injury to the vehicle occupants.
o For best protection from the side
impact airbag system and toavoid being injured by the de- ploying side impact airbag, both front seat occupants should sitin an upright position with the seat belt properly fastened. The driver's hands should be placedon the steering wheel at the 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock positions. The passenger's arms and handsshould be placed on their laps. o Do not use any accessory seat
covers.
o Use of seat covers could prevent
or reduce the effectiveness of the system.
o Do not install any accessories on
the side or near the side impactairbag.
o Do not use excessive force on the side of the seat.
o Do not place any objects over the
airbag or between the airbag and yourself.
o Do not place any objects (an
umbrella, bag, etc.) between the front door and the front seat. Such objects may become dan-gerous projectiles and cause in- jury if the supplemental side im- pact airbag inflates.
o To prevent unexpected deploy- ment of the side impact airbagthat may result in personalinjury,avoid impact to the side airbag sensor when the ignition key is on.

B460E03GK-GAT Resetting the Sunroof System If the battery has been recharged, disconnected or if the sunroof is oper-ated with the hexagonal head wrench manually, you may need to reset the sunroof. To do this;
1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
2. With pressing " " "up" button at the same time, turn the ignition switch"ON". The resetting is failed when the ignition key to the "OFF" within1.5 seconds.
3. If the sunroof is set like this, the sunroof is reset with tilting up/down automatically once for all.
CAUTION:
If the sunroof is not reset, it may not be operated properly.

SPECTACLE CASEMAP LIGHT

(1) Push in the map light switch to turn on the driver side light.
(2) In the "DOOR" position, the interior courtesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of theignition key position. The light goes out gradually 6 seconds after the door is closed.
(3) Push in the map light switch to turn on the driver side light.(1) B491A01F-GAT (If Installed) The spectacle case is located on the front overhead console. Push the end of the cover to open thespectacle case.
WARNING:
Do not open the spectacle casewhile the vehicle is moving. Therear view mirror of the vehicle can be blocked by an open spectacle case.

explosive materials. When refu- eling, please note the following guidelines carefully.
o Before touching the fuel nozzle or fuel filler cap, have one's handsin contact with metal parts awayfrom the filler neck to discharge static electricity.
o Do not get back in the vehicle
while refueling. Do not operateanything that can produce static electricity. Static electricity dis-charge can ignite fuel vapors re- sulting in explosion.
o When using a portable fuel con-
tainer be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground while refu- eling. Static electricity dischargefrom the container can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire. While start- ing refueling contact should bemaintained until the filling is com- plete. o Do not use cellular phones
around a gas station. The elec- tric current or electronic interfer-ence from cellular phones can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
o When refueling always shut the
engine off. Sparks by electricalequipment of the engine can ig- nite fuel vapors causing a fire.After refueling, check to make sure the fuel filler cap is securely closed, and then start the en-gine.
o Do not smoke or try to light ciga-
rettes around a gas station. Au-tomotive fuels are flammable.

3TO START THE ENGINEBEFORE STARTING THE EN- GINE
C020A01A-AAT Before you start the engine, you should always:
1. Look around the vehicle to be sure
there are no flat tires, puddles of oil, water or other indications of pos- sible trouble.
2. After entering the car, check to be sure the parking brake is engaged.
3. Check that all windows, and lights are clean.
4. Check that the interior and exterior
mirrors are clean and in position.
5. Check your seat, seatback and headrest to be sure they are in theirproper positions.
6. Close all the doors.
7. Fasten your seat belt and be sure
that all other occupants have fas- tened theirs.
8. Turn off all lights and accessories
that are not needed.
9. When you turn the ignition switch to "ON", check that all appropriatewarning lights are operating andthat you have sufficient fuel.
10.Check the operation of warning
lights and all bulbs when key is inthe "ON" position. C030A01A-GAT COMBINATION IGNITION SWITCH
o If your Hyundai is equipped with a
manual transaxle, place the shift lever in neutral and depress the clutch pedal fully.
o If your Hyundai has an automatic
transaxle, place the shift lever in "P"(park).
o To start the engine, insert the igni- tion key and turn it to the "START"position. Release it as soon as the engine starts. Do not hold the key inthe "START" position for more than 15 seconds.
NOTE: For safety, the engine will not start if the shift lever is not in "P" or "N" Position (Automatic Transaxle).
