The ignition switch has f our
positions: LOCK (0), ACCESSORY
(I), ON (II), and START (III).
You can insert or
remove the key only in this position.
To turn the key, push it in slightly. If
your vehicle has an automatic
transmission, the shif t lever must
also be in park. If the f ront wheels are turned, the
anti-theft lock may make it difficult
to turn the key. Firmly turn the
steering wheel to the lef t or right as
you turn the key.
You can
operate the audio system and the
accessory power sockets in this
position.
This is the normal key
position when driving. Several of the
indicators on the instrument panel
come on as a test when you turn the
ignition switch f rom ACCESSORY
(I) to ON (II).
Use this position
only to start the engine. The switch
returns to ON (II) when you let go of
the key. You will hear a reminder beeper if
you leave the key in the ignition
switch in the LOCK (0) or
ACCESSORY (I) position and open
the driver’s door. Remove the key to
turn of f the beeper.
If your vehicle has an automatic
transmission, the shif t lever must be
in Park bef ore you can remove the
key f rom the ignition switch.

To lock the driver’s door, remove the
key f rom the ignition switch, pull the
outside door handle and push the
lock tab down or push the door lock
switch down. Release the handle,
then close the door.
To lock all of the doors and hatch,
press the door lock switch on either
f ront door, or press the lock tab
down on the driver’s door, or use the
keyontheoutsidelock.
Pressing up on the door lock switch
will unlock all of the doors and the
hatch.
The lock tab on the passenger’s door
lock and unlock only that door.
Pulling up on the driver’s door lock
tab only unlocks the driver’s door. To unlock the driver’s door f rom the
outside, turn the key and release it.
To open the rear door, pull the rear
door handle located in the rear door
edge. The rear door can be opened
only when the f ront door is open.
To close the doors, close the rear
door first, then the front door. The
f ront door cannot be latched without
f irst closing the rear door. Closing
the rear door on the f ront door will
damage both doors.

If the MAIN switch is OFF, the
passenger’s window cannot be raised
or lowered. Keep the MAIN switch
off whenyouhavechildreninthe
vehicle so they do not injure
themselves by operating the
passenger’s window unintentionally. To open/close the driver’s
window, push the window switch
f irmly down or up to the second
detent, and release it. The window
will automatically go up or down all
the way. To stop the window, pull/
push on the window switch brief ly. If the driver’s
window senses any obstacle while it
is closing automatically, it will
reverse direction and then stop. To
close the window, remove the
obstacle, then use the window switch
again.
If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected or goes dead, or the
driver’s window f use is removed, the
AUTO f unction will be disabled. The
power window system needs to be
reset af ter reconnecting the battery
or installing the f use.
If the power windows do not operate
properly af ter resetting, have your
vehicle checked by your dealer. Pull and hold the driver’s window
switch to close the window
completely, then hold the switch
f or a second or two more. Start the engine. Push down and
hold the driver’s window switch
until the window is f ully open.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II)
to raise or lower either window. To
open the window, push the switch
downandholdit.Releasetheswitch
when you want the window to stop.

The ceiling light has a three-position
switch: ON, Door Activated, and
OFF.
In the Door Activated (center)
position, the light comes on when
you:Open any door.
Remove the key from the ignition.
If you do not open a door, the light
f ades out in about 30 seconds.
Unlock the doors with the key or
remote transmitter. The cargo area light has a three-
position switch. In the center
position, the light comes on when
you open the hatch.
Turn on the spotlight by pushing the
lens. Push the lens again to turn it
of f . You can use the spotlights at all
times.
The ignition switch light comes on
when you unlock the driver’s door,
and f ades out about 30 seconds af ter
you close the door.

You can use these five methods to
f ind radio stations on a selected
band: the
preset buttons, and .
The ignition switch must be in
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II) position.
Turn the system on by pushing the
PWR/VOL knob or the AM/FM
button. Adjust the volume by turning
thesameknob.
The band and f requency that the
radio was last tuned to is displayed.
To change bands, press the AM/FM
button. On the FM band, ST will be
displayed if the station is broadcast-
ing in stereo. Stereo reproduction on
AM is not available.
Use the TUNE knob to
tune the radio to a desired f requency.
Turn the knob right to tune to a
higher f requency, or lef t to tune to a lower f requency.
The SEEK f unction
searches up and down from the
current f requency to f ind a station
with a strong signal. To activate it,
press either ( or ), then
release it.
The SCAN f unction
samples all stations with strong
signals on the selected band. To
activate it, press the SCAN button,
then release it. You will see SCAN in
the display. The system will scan f or
a station with a strong signal. When
it f inds one, it will stop and play that
station f or about 5 seconds (LX and
DX models) or 10 seconds (EX
model).
If you do nothing, the system will
then scan f or the next strong station
and play it f or 5 seconds (LX and DX
models) or 10 seconds (EX models).
When it plays a station you want to listen to, press the SCAN button
again.
Each preset button can
store one f requency on AM, and two
f requencies on FM.
Select the desired band, AM or
FM. FM1 and FM2 let you store
two f requencies with each preset
button.

Pick a preset button, and hold it
until you hear a beep.
Repeat steps 1 through 3 to store a
total of six stations on AM and

sequence: channel name, channel
number, category, artist name, and
music title. Turn the TUNE knob to
change channels. Turn the knob
right f or higher numbered channels
and lef t f or lower numbered

To listen to XM radio, turn the
ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I)
or ON (II). Push the PWR/VOL
knob to turn on the audio system,
and press the ‘‘XM’’ button. Adjust
the volume by turning the PWR/
VOL knob. The last channel you
listened to will show in the display.
When in the satellite radio mode,
you can use any of three methods to
f ind channels: TUNE, SEEK/SKIP
(CATEGORY), and SCAN. To change between channel mode
and category mode, press and hold
the DISP button.

Depending on where you drive, you
may experience reception problems.
Interf erence can be caused by any of
these conditions:Drivingonaneast/westroadwith
a mountain on the south side of
the road.
Driving on a single lane road
alongside dense trees taller than
50 ft. (15 m) to the south of you. Driving on the lower level of a
multi-tiered road. Driving on a road beside a vertical
wall, steep clif f , or hill to the south
of you. Driving in the tunnels.
Driving on the north side of a
large commercial truck on an
east/west road.
There may be other geographic
situations that could af f ect XM radio
reception. Cargo on a roof rack. If your XM Radio service has expired
or you purchased your vehicle f rom
a previous owner, you can listen to a
preview of the broadcasts available
on XM Satellite Radio. With the
ignition switch in the ACCESSORY
(I) or ON (II) position, push the
PWR/VOL knob to turn on the audio
system and press the XM button. An

To load or play discs, the ignition

WMA f iles, and CD-RWs
compressed in MP3 standard. When
playing a disc in MP3, you will see
‘‘MP3’’ in the display. You can select
up to f olders or tracks.Video CDs and DVDs will not work

format of MP3 and WMA discs
allows them to store large
amounts of f iles and tagging
inf ormation, these discs may take
more time to begin playing.
The sound quality of MP3 and
WMA discs generally degrades as
the bit rate increases.
If a f ile on an MP3 or WMA disc is
protected by digital rights
management (DRM), the audio
unit displays FORMAT, and then
skips to the next f ile.
You operate the disc player with the
same controls used f or the radio. To
select the disc player, press the CD/
AUX button. You will see ‘‘CD’’ in the
display. The number of the track
playing is shown in the display. The
system will continuously play a disc
until you change modes.
