DESCENTE DES PENTES
Pour descendre des pentes, il convient de déplacer son
corps le plus possible vers l’arrière de le VTT et du côté
montant de la pente. S’asseoir à l’arrière de la selle et
conduire les bras tendus. Le moteur à lui seul assure une
partie importante de la puissance de freinage. Avant
d’entamer la descente d’une colline, sélectionner le rap-
port inférieur (“L”), puis sélectionner le mode de traction
“4WD” ou “4WD-LOCK” afin de profiter au maximum
du frein moteur. Un mauvais freinage peut provoquer une
perte de traction. Être particulièrement vigilant en des-
cendant une pente dont le sol est meuble ou glissant. En
effet, les performances de freinage et la traction risquent
d’être réduites. Une mauvaise technique de freinage peut
également provoquer une perte de la traction.
Lorsque ce VTT est en mode de traction “4WD” ou
“4WD-LOCK”, le train de transmission rend les quatre
roues solidaires. Chaque frein, avant ou arrière, agit donc
simultanément sur les quatre roues. Dans une descente, le
levier et la pédale de frein agissent toujours sur les roues
situées du côté aval. Que l’on utilise le frein avant ou ar-
rière, il faut donc éviter les freinages brusques, car les
roues situées du côté amont risqueraient de se soulever.
Actionner progressivement et simultanément les freins

dente de la pendiente. Desplácese hacia atrás en el
sillín y permanezca sentado con los brazos rectos.
La compresión del motor puede actuar como freno
principal. Para optimizar el efecto de freno del motor,
seleccione la gama baja “L” y cambie al modo de
tracción 4WD o 4WD-LOCK antes de empezar a ba-
jar la pendiente. Una frenada incorrecta puede dar
lugar a la pérdida de tracción. Tome precauciones
durante el descenso de una pendiente con superficie
suelta o resbaladiza. La capacidad de tracción y de
frenada pueden reducirse en este tipo de superfi-
cies. También una frenada incorrecta puede dar lu-
gar a una pérdida de tracción.
En el modo de tracción 4WD o 4WD-LOCK de este
ATV, todas la ruedas del ATV (delanteras y traseras)
están interconectadas. Eso significa que todas las
ruedas frenan cuando se aplica el freno delantero o
el freno trasero. Durante el descenso de una pen-
diente, todos los frenos frenan las ruedas en el lado
descendente. Evite aplicar los frenos delantero o tra-
sero con brusquedad porque podrían levantarse del
suelo las ruedas en el lado ascendente. Aplique los

Refill with the same type of brake fluid. Mixing
fluids may result in a harmful chemical reaction
and lead to poor brake performance.
Be careful that water does not enter the master
cylinder reservoirs when refilling. Water will sig-
nificantly lower the boiling point of the fluid and
may result in vapor lock.
Brake fluid may deteriorate painted surfaces or
plastic parts. Always clean up spilled fluid im-
mediately.
Have a Yamaha dealer check the cause if the
brake fluid level goes down.

Rear brake lever adjustment
The rear brake lever free play should be 0.5–
2.0 mm.
1. Loosen the locknut.
2. Turn the adjusting bolt in direction

If the correct free play cannot be obtained, ask a
Yamaha dealer to make that adjustment.

Yamaha dealer adjust it.

If a headlight bulb burns out, replace it as follows.
1. Remove the bulb holder cover at the rear of
the headlight by pulling it off.
2. Remove the headlight bulb holder by turning
it counterclockwise.

_ A headlight bulb is hot when it is on and imme-
diately after it is turned off. Wait for the bulb to
cool before touching or removing it. You can
be burned or a fire could start if the bulb touch-
es something flammable. _4. Insert a new headlight bulb into the bulb hold-
er, push it in, and then turn the bulb clockwise
until it stops.CAUTION:_ Do not touch the glass part of the headlight
bulb to keep it free from oil, otherwise the
transparency of the glass, the luminosity of the
bulb, and the bulb life will be adversely affect-
ed. Thoroughly clean off any dirt and finger-
prints on the headlight bulb using a cloth
moistened with alcohol or thinner. _5. Install the bulb holder by turning it clockwise.
6. Install the bulb holder cover at the rear of the
headlight.

CLEANING AND STORAGE
A. CLEANING
Frequent, thorough cleaning of your machine will
not only enhance its appearance but will improve
its general performance and extend the useful life
of many components.
1. Before cleaning the machine:
a. Block off the end of the exhaust pipe to pre-
vent water entry. A plastic bag and strong
rubber band may be used.
b. Make sure the spark plug and all filler caps
are properly installed.
2. If the engine case is excessively greasy, ap-
ply degreaser with a paint brush. Do not ap-
ply degreaser to the wheel axles.
3. Rinse the dirt and degreaser off with a garden
hose. Use only enough pressure to do the
job.

B. STORAGE
Long term storage (60 days or more) of your ma-
chine will require some preventive procedures to
guard against deterioration. After thoroughly
cleaning the machine, prepare for storage as fol-
lows:
1. Fill the fuel tank with fresh fuel and add fuel
stabilizer (if available).NOTE:Use of fuel stabilizer eliminates the need to drain
the fuel system. Consult a Yamaha dealer if the
fuel system is to be drained instead.2. Remove the spark plug, pour about one ta-
blespoon of SAE 10W30 or 20W40 motor oil
in the spark plug hole and reinstall the spark
plug. Ground the spark plug wire and turn the
engine over several times to coat the cylinder
wall with oil.
3. Lubricate all control cables.
4. Block up the frame to raise all wheels off the
ground.
