Practical advice
Tr ou bleshooting Problem Possible caus
e/consequ ence Suggested sol
utions The coolant temperature gauge is above
+130 °C. The coolant warning lamp may
also be
lit and a warning signal may sound
( = pag e107). The coolant
level is too low. The coolant is
too hot and the engine is no longer being
cooled sufficiently. 6
Stop as soon as possible and allow the
engine and the coolant to cool down.
6 Check the coolant level, while observing
the warn ings, and top up the coolant if
nec essary (
=page 247). If the coolant
level is correct, the radiator
fan may be faulty. The coolant is too hot
and the engine is no longer being coo led
sufficiently. 6
If the coolant temperature is below
130 °C ,you can drive on to the nearest
qual ified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Serv ice Ce ntre.
6 When doing so, avoid placing a heavy
strain on the engine (e.g. driving on
mo untain roads) and stop /start driving. 209en_d2.boo Seite
