This function is operative at any time. Under the ºFMº mode,
ºRDSº appears on the display as long as the audio system
picks up RDS stations. When the audio system is in other than
ºFMº mode, or it can not pick up RDS stations, ºRDSº is off.
TYPE (Program type):
When you push the ºTYPE
º or ºTYPE º button while
receiving an RDS station, the current program type appears on
the display.
If you push the ºTYPE º or ºTYPE º button when ºRDSº is
off on the display, ºNO_PTYº appears.
Each time you push the ºTYPE º or ºTYPE º button, the
program type changes as in the following:
ROCK
EASY LIS (Easy listening)
CLS/JAZZ (Classical music and jazz)
R&B (Rhythm and Blues)
INFORM (Information)
RELIGION
MISC
ALERT (Emergency message)
TRAF (Traffic) function: A station that regularly
broadcasts traffic information is automatically located.
When you push the ºTRAFº button in the ºFMº mode, ºTRAF
SEEKº appears on the display and the radio will start seeking
any traffic program station.
If no traf fic program station is found, ºNO TRAF INFOº appears
on the display for a few seconds and the display returns to the
previous mode.

Radio text message:

If the radio receives a radio text message during FM reception,
ºMSGº and a text message appears on the display. After the
text message goes off, ºMSGº also goes off.
After the text message goes off from the display, pushing the
ºMSGº button during message reception shows the text
message again on the display.
In case of the text message consisting of more than 14 letters,
the display shows only the first 13 letters and the next 14
letters. If you want to show the letters unshown on the display,
push the ºMSGº button continuously. Then, move back to the
first 13 letters.
Each time you push the ºMSGº button, the screen display
cycles as follows:
Frequency RDS station name Text message
If no message is received, ºNO MESSAGEºappears on the
display. After this, the display returns to the previous mode.

Cassette tape player operation
(a) Playing a cassette tape

When you insert a cassette tape, the exposed tape should
face to the right.
The player will automatically start when you insert a cassette
tape. At this time, ºPLAYº appears on the display.
If a metal or chrome equivalent cassette tape is put in the
cassette player, the player will automatically adapt to it and
ºMTLº appears on the display.
To stop or eject the cassette tape, push the ºEJECTº button.
Auto-reverse feature: After the cassette player reaches the
end of a tape, it automatically reverses and begins to play the
other side, regardless of whether the cassette was playing or
fast forwarding.

If a cassette is already in the slot, push the ºTA PEº button.
DolbyB Noise Reduction* feature: If you are listening
to a tape that was recorded with
Dolby B Noise Reduction,push the ºº button. The º Bº will appear on the display.
Push the button again to turn off Dolby B NR.
The Dolby NR mode reduces tape noise by about 10 dB. For
best sound reproduction, play your tapes with this button on or
off according to the mode used for recording the tape.
To play a tape recorded without Dolby NR, push the button until
the symbol disappears from the display.

(b) Manual program selection

Push the ºº button to select the
other side of a cassette tape. The display indicates which side
is currently selected ( indicates top side, indicates bottom
side).
ºRewindº button: Push the º º button to rewind a tape.
ºREWº appears on the display.
To stop rewinding, push the same button or ºTAPEº button.
ºFast forwardº button: Push the ºº button to fast forward
a cassette tape. ºFFº appears on the display.
To stop fast forwarding, push the same button or ºTAPEº
button. (c) Automatic program selection

ºRPTº button: The repeat feature automatically replays the
current program.
Push the º
RPTº button while the program is playing. When the
program ends, it will automatically be rewound and replayed.
Push the button again to turn off the repeat feature.
There must be at least 5 seconds of blank space between
programs for the repeat feature to work correctly.
ºSKIPº button: The skip feature allows you to fast forward
past long stretches of blank tape. This is especially useful at
the end of cassettes.
Push the ºSKIPº button. The player will automatically skip any
blank portions of 15 seconds or more and play the next
program. To cancel it, push the button once again.

ºAutomatic program selectionº button: The automatic
program selection feature allows you to program your cassette
player to skip forward or backward to locate the song you want
to hear. You can skip up to nine programs at a time.
Push this button on the upper side to skip forward. ºFFº and
the number will appear on the display. Push the button until the
number you want to skip appears on the display. After that, the
player will automatically skip forward.
When the end of the tape is reached, the player automatically
reverses sides and resumes normal play. Push
this button on the lower side to skip backward. Push the
button until ºREWº and the number you want to skip appear on
the display.
If you set ºREW 1º, the player will rewind to the beginning
of the current program.
When counting the number of programs you want to rewind,
remember to count the current program as well. For
example, if you want to rewind to a song that is two before
the song you are listening to, push this button until ºREW 3º appears on the display.
When the beginning of the tape is reached, the player
automatically resumes normal play.
There must be at least 5 seconds of blank space between
programs for this feature to work correctly.
ºRPTº, ºSKIPº or ºAutomatic program selectionº
features: These features may not work well with some spoken
word, live or classical recordings.

Compact disc player operation
(a) Inserting or ejecting compact discs
The ignition switch must be in the ºACCº or ºONº position.
Your automatic changer can store up to 6 discs.

Setting a single compact disc:
1. Push the ºLOADº button briefly.
You can set a disc at the lowest empty disc number. 2. When
the amber indicators of the slot start blinking, the
ºWAIT DISCº appears on the display. After the indicators
blinking amber change to the green, and the ºWAIT DISCº
changes to the ºLOAD DISCº on the display, the CD door
opens. While the CD door is open, insert only one disc.
If you need to insert the next disc, repeat the same
procedure to insert another disc.
After insertion, the set disc is automatically loaded.
If the label faces down, the disc cannot be played. In this case,
ºERROR1º and disc number appear on the display.
Setting all the discs:
1. Push the ºLOADº button until you hear a beep.
2. When the amber indicators of the slot start blinking, the
ºWAIT DISCº appears on the display. After the indicators
blinking amber change to the green, and the ºWAIT DISCº
changes to the ºLOAD DISCº on the display, the CD door
opens. While the CD door is open, insert only one disc.
After i nserting the disc, the CD door closes and the ºWAIT
DISCº appears on the display again. After the ºWAIT
DISCº changes to the ºLOAD DISCº, you can insert the
next disc. Repeat this procedure until you insert all the
discs.
To cancel the operation, push the ºLOADº or ºDISCº button.
If you do not insert the discs within 15 seconds after pushing
the ºLOADº button and ºLOADº is displayed, the operation will
be canceled automatically.

Do not insert one disc stacked on top of another one orfeed them in continuously, to prevent discs from getting
stuck in the player.

Ejecting a single disc:
1. Push the button under the ºDISC º or ºDISC º
signal on the display to display the disc number you want
to eject.
2. Push the ºEJECTº button briefly.
At this time, the display shows ºEJECTº, and the indicators at
both ends of the slot as well as the disc number light up.
Ejecting all the discs:
Push the ºEJECTº button until you hear a beep.
However, if you accidentally pushed the ºEJECTº button, push
the ºDISCº or ºLOADº button to insert the disc again. Do not push in the disc which is being ejected forcibly.
