o Unlocked doors can be dangerous. Be-
fore you drive away (especially if thereare children in the car), be sure that allthe doors are securely closed and lockedso that the doors cannot be inadvertentlyopened from the inside. This helps en-sure that the doors will not be openedaccidentally. Also, when combined withthe proper use of seat belts, locking thedoors helps keep occupants from beingejected from the car in case of an acci-dent.
o Before opening the door, always look for and avoid oncoming traffic.
o In case of accident the door is unlocked automatically (If installed)

operation of the ignition key. For example, turn the ignition key once for digit number"1", and twice for "2", and so on. However,for the digit number "0", you must turn theignition key for 10 times.
2. Wait for 3~10 seconds.
3. You may set the remaining number of digits by following the same procedures 1 and 2.
4. If all of four digits have been tried success- fully, turn the ignition key "ON" and checkthat the immobilizer indicator illuminates.From this time, you have to start your enginewithin 30 seconds. If you start your engineafter 30 seconds, your engine will not start.
NOTE:If the engine dies while driving after limphome procedure, you can start your enginewithin 8 seconds without limp home proce-dure again.
5. If the immobilizer indicator blinks for five seconds, you have to try the limp home procedure again from the beginning.
After doing the limp home procedure, you haveto consult with your authorized Hyundai dealeras soon as possible. CAUTION:
o If you fail to try the limp home procedure with the sequence of three times, youhave to wait for about one hour to do thelimp home procedure again.
o If you cannot start your engine in spite of limp home procedure, have your vehicletowed by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
B880D02A-GAT Limp home procedures In case the immobilizer warning indicator blinks for five seconds when the ignition key isturned to "ON" position, this indicates that theimmobilizer system is out of order. And youcannot start the engine without the limp homeprocedures with ignition key. The following procedure is how to start the engine with the function of the limp home. (0,1, 2, 3 as a sample password). NOTE: You can get the limp home password whenthe vehicle is first delivered to you. If you donot have the password, consult your autho-rized Hyundai dealer.
1. To set the password you may turn theignition key "ON" and then turn it "OFF" according to the digit numbers, then theimmobilizer indicator will blink along with the

o The door can be locked or unlocked with akey.
o Lock the door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

The doors can be locked without a key.
To lock the doors first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position, so that the redmark on the switch is not visible, then close thedoor.The door will not lock if the key is left in theignition switch when the front doors close. Thisis normal. (If installed) NOTE:
o When locking the door this way, be care- ful not to lock the door with the ignitionkey left in the vehicle. B040D01FC-GAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, simply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK"position. When this is done, neither the outsidenor the inside door handle can be used. NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on theswitch is not visible and the character"LOCK" on the switch is visible.

Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child-protec- tor" rear door lock assembly. When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannotbe opened from the inside. It's use is recom-mended whenever there are small children inthe rear seat. To engage the child-protector feature so that the door cannot be opened from the inside,move the child-protector lever to the " "position and close the door. Move the lever tothe opposite direction of the " " position whennormal door operation is desired. If you wish to be able to open the door from the outside, the outside door handle will functionnormally.HFC2006
o To protect against theft, always remove
the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors and the tail gate whenleaving your vehicle unattended.

The protection provid-ed by the seat belts and airbags in a frontalcollision may be reduced significantly whenthe seatbacks are reclined. There is greaterrisk that the driver and passenger will slideunder the seat belt which may result inserious injury if a crash occurs when theseatbacks are reclined. The seat belt cannotprovide full protection to an occupant if theseat back is reclined.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car.

o When using the rear seat center belt, you must lock all metal tabs and buck-les. If any metal tab or buckle is not locked, it will increase the chance of injury in the event of collision.
o Never unlock the metal tab (a) and the buckle (b) with the following excep-tions.
(1) In case of folding rear seatbacksdown.
(2) If transporting an object on the rear seat may cause damage to the rearseat center belt.
o Lock the metal tab (a) and the buckle (b) immediately after folding rear seatbacksup.
o To disconnect the metal tab (a) from the buckle (b), insert other metal tab intothe groove located on the buckle (b). B230G01A-GAT Installation on the Outboard Rear Seats To install a child restraint system on the outboard rear seats, extend the shoulder/lapbelt from its retractor. Buckle the seat belt andallow the seat belt to take up any slack. Makesure that the lap portion of the belt is tightaround the child restraint system and theshoulder portion of the belt is positioned sothat it cannot interfere with the child's head orneck. After installation of the child restraintsystem, try to move it in all directions to besure the child restraint system is securelyinstalled. If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor. When you un-buckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, theretractor will automatically revert back to itsnormal seated passenger emergency lockingusage condition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child restraint sys- tem, read the instructions supplied bythe child restraint system manufacturer.
o If the seat belt does not operate as described, have the system checkedimmediately by your authorized Hyundaidealer.
WARNING: Do not install any child restraint system in

3. SRS control module WARNING: To obtain maximum benefit from a pre-tensioner seat belt:
1. The seat belt must be worn correctly.
2. The seat belt must be adjusted to the correct position.
The pre-tensioner seat belt operates in a simi-lar same way as an Emergency Locking Re-tractor (ELR) type of seat belt. When the ve-hicle stops suddenly, or if the occupant tries tolean forward too quickly, the seat belt retractorwill lock into position. However, in certain fron-tal collisions, the pre-tensioner will activate andpull the seat belt into tighter contact against theoccupant's body.

B880C02A-GAT Key Numbers The vehicle key number is recorded upon a metal tag attached to the keys when the vehicle is first delivered to you. The key number should be recorded and keptin a safe place in case the need to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundai dealer by quoting the rel- evant key number. In the interest of security, the metal tag at-tached to the keys which bears the key num- ber should be removed from the key ring after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key numbers cannot be provided by Hyundai for security reasons.If you need additional keys or if you should lose your keys, your authorized Hyundai dealer can make new keys.
