DAILY OPERATING CHECKS
The following items should be checked on a
daily basis or whenever the vehicle is refuelled, whichever occurs sooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all lighting equipment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer operation.
o Horn operation.
o Warning light operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mirrors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and opera- tion.
o Fluid leakage.
The vehicle must not be driven if the daily
operating checks indicate that any item of equip- ment related to the safety or roadworthiness ofthe vehicle is not functioning correctly. G030A01FC-EAT
ENGINE OIL
The correct engine oil level is of paramount
importance. An excessively high or low oil levelmay result in irreparable damage being sus-tained by the engine. The engine oil levelmust be checked on a daily basis, wheneverthe vehicle is refuelled or before starting along trip, whichever occurs sooner.
In addition, it is imperative that only an ap-
proved grade and specification of oil is used toavoid the possibility of serious engine damageand premature wear. The use of "budget price"oil is a false economy that must be avoided ifthe maximum reliability and useful life is to beobtained from the vehicle.

A multi grade oil having a specification which meets A.P.I. specification of SG or above isrecommended. The oil viscosity should be se-lected according to the operating environmentof the engine by means of the table shown inthe illustration. The engine oil recommenda-tions are complete in themselves and the use ofadditives is neither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result ininvalidation of the vehicle warranty. NOTE: The use of a 5W-20 multi grade oil is not recommended for sustained high speed use.
2. Diesel engine
The engine oil quality should meet the follow-
ing classification:
API class: CF-4 or ABOVEACEA class: B4 or ABOVE

AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REPLACEMENT CAUTION:
o The air flow sensor is a precision engi-
neered electronic measuring device and therefore care should be exercised thatthe air flow sensor is not damagedduring replacement of the element.
o When removing the air cleaner ele- ment, be careful that dust or dirt doesnot enter the air intake. These mayresult in damage to the air cleanerelement.
To ensure maximum filtration performanceand continued engine performance, only genu-ine Hyundai replacements should be used. use a clean sponge or cloth with a mild soapor detergent and water. If the wipers continueto streak or smear the glass, replace themwith genuine Hyundai replacement.
CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass since rapid wear and damage to thewindscreen glass may result.
o Keep the blade rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as en-gine oil, gasoline, etc.

HEF-119To replace the air cleaner element, remove
the air intake ducting from the air flow sensor body and unfasten the spring clips holding theair flow sensor top to the body. Lift out the airflow sensor followed by the air cleaner ele-ment. Replacement of the element is thereverse of the above. SG090A2-E
WINDSCREEN WASHER RESERVOIR REPLENISHMENTHFC5010
The wiper blades should be carefully in-
spected from time to time and cleaned to remove accumulations of road film or otherdebris. To clean the wiper blades and arms, The level of windscreen washer fluid available
should be checked on a daily basis. The levelof fluid will be visible through the side of thereservoir. When the fluid is to be replenished,

6-12 G110A01E-EAT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked and changed at those intervals pre-scribed in the maintenance schedule. It is ofparamount importance that only the specifiedfluid is used when replenishing or changing thefluid. The use of other fluids may irreparablydamage the transaxle and invalidate the manu-facturers warranty. In addition the ingress of dirtor lint may prevent correct functioning of thetransaxle and care must be exercised to pre-vent the ingress of such matter. NOTE: Basically automatic transaxle fluid is redcolor. As driving distance increases, thefluid color turns darkish red gradually. It isnormal condition and you should not usefluid color as a criterion for replacing thetransaxle fluid.
Ensure that the vehicle is parked on levelground with the parking brake firmly appliedand the engine cool. Remove the level plugfrom the transaxle when lubricant should be-gin to drip from the level hole. If the level islow and no lubricant is seen to drip, add therequired quantity of lubricant and replace theplug.
The manual transaxle lubricant must bechecked and or changed at the intervalsspecified in the maintenance schedule. Onlythose lubricants specified should be used inorder to prevent gear shifting difficulties ortransaxle damage. WARNING: The transaxle lubricant level should only be checked when the engine is cold topreclude the possibility of personal injuryby contact with hot components.
Recommended Oil Use only the approved transaxle lubricant. The recommended lubricants are complete inthemselves and the use of additives is neitherrequired nor recommended. The use of addi-tives may invalidate the vehicle warranty.

only a proprietary screen wash additive should be used and in the concentration recom-mended by the manufacturer. The windscreenwasher reservoir has a total capacity of 3litres.
CAUTION: Engine coolant anti freeze must not be
used in the windscreen washer system since damage to the paintwork may result.
Undiluted windscreen washer additive must
not be allowed to come into contact with thepaintwork. If spillage occurs, flush the af-fected area immediately with water. Do notoperate the windscreen washer for morethan 15 seconds continuously or whenthe reservoir is empty since damage tothe washer pump will result.
