If you are
traveling far from home and can no
longer receive your preset stations,
you can use the Auto Select f eature
to find stations in the local area.
Press the A. SEL Button. ‘‘A.SEL’’
f lashes in the display, and the system
goes into scan mode f or several
seconds. It stores the f requencies of
six AM, and twelve FM stations in
the preset buttons.
You will see a ‘‘0’’ displayed af ter
pressing a preset button if Auto
Select cannot f ind a strong station
f or every preset button.
If you do not like the stations Auto
Select has stored, you can store
other f requencies on the preset
buttons. Use the TUNE, SEEK, or
SCAN functions to find stations, then
store them in the preset buttons as
described. press the
A. SEL button. This restores the
presets you originally set. These two
modes adjusts the strength of the
sound coming f rom each speaker.
BAL adjusts the side-to-side strength,
while FAD adjusts the f ront-to-back
strength.
Press the TUNE (MODE) knob
repeatedly to display the Bass (BAS),
Treble (TRE), Fader (FAD), and
Balance (BAL) setting.
Eachmodeisshowninthedisplayas
it changes. Turn the TUNE (MODE)
knob to adjust the setting to your
liking. The level number on the
display shows you the range. When
the level reaches the center, you will
see ‘‘C’’ in the display. The system
will automatically return the display
to the selected audio mode about 5
seconds af ter you stop adjusting a
mode.
Use the TRE/BAS
modes to adjust the tone to your
liking. Your vehicle has no speakers in the
rear, set the f ader control to the
maximum f ront setting.
You can use the instrument panel
brightness control buttons to adjust
the illumination of the audio system
(see page ). The audio system
illuminates when the parking lights
are on, even if the radio is of f .

µ´When a CD is not being played, store
it in its case to protect it f rom dust
and other contamination. To prevent
warpage, keep CDs out of direct
sunlight and extreme heat.
To clean a CD, use a clean sof t cloth.
Wipe across the CD f rom the center
to the outside edge.
A new CD may be rough on the
inner and outer edges. The small
plastic pieces causing this roughness
can f lake of f and f all on the re-
cording surf ace of the CD, causing
skipping or other problems. Remove
these pieces by rubbing the inner
and outer edges with the side of a
pencil or pen.
Never try to insert f oreign objects in
the CD player or the magazine.
Handle your CDs properly to
prevent damage and skipping. Play only standard round CDs.
Odd-shaped CDs may jam in the
driveorcauseotherproblems. CD-RW discs will not work in this
unit. When recording a CD-R, the
recording must be closed f or it to
be used in CD players. When using CD-R discs, use only
high quality CDs labeled f or audio
use.
To select the CD changer, press the
CD button. The CD and track
numbers will be displayed. To select
a dif f erent CD, use the preset 5
(DISC ) or preset 6 (DISC )
button. If you select an empty slot in
the magazine, the changer will, af ter
f inding that slot empty, try to load
the CD in the next slot.

Screw the fuel fill cap back on
until it clicks at least three times.
If you do not properly tighten the
cap, the Malf unction Indicator
Lampmaycomeon(seepage).
Push the f uel f ill door closed until
it latches.
Park the vehicle, and set the
parking brake. Pull the hood
release handle located under the
lower lef t corner of the dashboard.
The hood will pop up slightly.Put your f ingers under the f ront
edge of the hood to the right of
center. Slide your hand to the lef t
until you f eel the hood latch
handle. Push this handle up until it
releases the hood. Lif t the hood.
If the hood latch handle moves
stif f ly, or if you can open the hood
without lifting the handle, the
mechanism should be cleaned and
lubricated (see page ).

To Close the Hood:
Lif t it up slightly to remove the
support rod f rom the hole. Put the
support rod back into its holding clip.
Lower the hood to about a f oot (30
cm) above the f ender, then let it
drop. Make sure it is securely
latched.Pull the support rod out of its clip,
and insert the end into the hole on
theleftsideof thehood.
Wait a f ew minutes af ter turning the
engine of f bef ore you check the oil.
Remove the dipstick (orange
handle).
Wipe of f the dipstick with a clean
cloth or paper towel.
Insert it all the way back in its hole. Remove the dipstick again and
check the level. It should be
between the upper and lower
marks.

Improper accessories or
modifications can affect your
vehicle’s handling, stability, and
performance, and cause a
crash in which you can be hurt
or killed.
Follow all instructions in this
owner’s manual regarding
accessories and modifications.

To secure the cargo, you can use the
f our cargo hooks on the cargo area.
The illustration shows the location of
each cargo hook.The cargo net can be used to help
hold down light items in the cargo
area. The cargo net may not prevent
heavy items f rom being thrown
f orward in a crash or a sudden stop.
Cargo secured with this net should
not exceed 22 lbs (10 kg). Heavy
items should be secured to the cargo
area floor with tie-downs or cinch
straps attached to the cargo hooks.
The air intake f or the IMA battery is
located behind the passenger’s seat.
Do not block this air intake with any
cargo.
Do not spill any liquids over the air
intake and also do not put any small
f oreign objects in it. This may
damage the IMA battery and the
power control unit.

your vehicle.Make sure all windows, mirrors,
and outside lights are clean and
unobstructed. Remove f rost, snow,
or ice.
Check that the hood is f ully closed. Check the seat adjustment (see
page ).
Check the adjustment of the
inside and outside mirrors (see
page ).
Make sure the doors and the
hatch are securely closed and
locked.
When you start the engine, check
the gauges and indicators in the
instrument panel (see page ). Fasten your seat belt. Check that
your passenger has f astened his or
her seat belt (see page ).
Visually check the tires. If a tire
looks low, use a gauge to check its
pressure.
Check that any items you may be
carrying are stored properly or
f astened down securely.
