Speed limiter
For riders inexperienced with this model, this mod-
el is equipped with a speed limiter in the throttle le-
ver housing. The speed limiter limits the power
and top speed of the ATV. Turning the adjusting
screw in decreases the top speed, and turning it
out increases the top speed. (See page 4-17 for
details.)
Loading and accessories
Use extra caution when riding the ATV with addi-
tional loads, such as accessories or cargo. The
ATV’s handling may be adversely affected. Re-
duce your speed when adding additional loads.

Keep weight uphill.
Apply the brakes.
Lock the parking brake, after you are
stopped.
If you begin rolling backwards:
Keep weight uphill.
Never apply the rear brake while rolling
backwards. Apply the front brake. When
fully stopped, apply the rear brake as well,
and then lock the parking brake.

NOTE:_ To access the rear brake fluid reservoir, remove
the reservoir cover by removing the bolts. _Observe these precautions:
When checking the brake fluid level, make sure
the top of the brake fluid reservoir is level.
Use only the designated quality brake fluid, oth-
erwise, the rubber seals may deteriorate, caus-
ing leakage and poor brake performance.
Refill with the same type of brake fluid. Mixing
fluids may result in a harmful chemical reaction
and lead to poor brake performance.
Be careful that water does not enter the brake
fluid reservoir when refilling. Water will signifi-
cantly lower the boiling point of the fluid and
may result in vapor lock. Recommended brake fluid: DOT 4

5. Screw in the adjusting bolt at the rear brake
caliper by hand until it feels tight, then screw it
out 1/8 turn. Tighten the locknut to the speci-
fied torque.CAUTION:_ When tightening the locknut, hold the adjust-
ing bolt with a wrench so that the adjusting
bolt does not turn together with the locknut. _
WARNING
_ Operating with improperly adjusted brakes
could cause the brakes to malfunction, result-
ing in reduced braking performance. This
could increase the chance of a collision or ac-
cident. After adjusting the parking brake, block
the rear of the machine off the ground and spin
the rear wheels. Check to make sure there is
no brake drag. If brake drag is noticed, perform
the adjustment again. _
