SELECTING THE DISC MENU NUMBER
(video CD only)
Push the “Sel. Number” switch and then
the disc menu number search screen will
appear. You can also display the screen
by pushing the “SEARCH” switch on the
controller.Enter the disc menu number by using the
“”, “+” and “+10” switches and push the
“Enter” switch. The player starts playing
the disc from the entered disc menu num-
ber. The entered disc menu number will
appear on the screen.
Push the “Back” switch to return to the
menu screen.
Move up and down the switches by push-
ing the “Shift keys” on the screen.OPERATING THE “”, “”, “  ” AND

” switch: Push this switch to pause the
disc.
“  ” switch: Push this switch to cancel the
pause and return to normal playing.
“  ” and “ ” switches: Push this
switch to fast forward or reverse. If you
want to return to the beginning of the
current track, release the switch.
Video CD only—
Push the “ ” switch/button while paus-
ing, the DVD video plays the slowmotion
video replay.

CHANGING THE INITIAL SETTING (video
CD only)
Push the “Set Up” switch on the screen
and then the initial setting screen will ap-
pear. You can also display the screen by
pushing the “SET UP” button on the con-
troller. You can change the initial setting.
(See “CHANGING THE INITIAL SETTING”
on page 218 in this section for details.)
After the setting is done, the player plays
from the beginning of the chapter or the

USING THE CONTROL SCREEN
When playing a disc, push the “DVD” but-
ton on the controller. The control screen
will appear on the screen.
Details of the specific switches, controls
and features are described below.
CD text only—
The disc title and track title will appear on
the screen when pushing the “DVD” but-
ton.

1. “RPT” switch (audio CD and CD text)Push the “RPT” switch while the track
is playing. When the track ends, it will
automatically replay. To turn off the re-
peat feature, push this switch again.
2. “RAND” switch (audio CD and CD text)
Push the “RAND” switch. The player
will play the tracks on the disc in ran-
dom order. To turn off the random fea-
ture, push this switch again.
3. “SCAN” switch (audio CD and CD text)
Push the “SCAN” switch. The player
will scan all the tracks on the disc. To
stop scanning, push this switch again.
When the player has scanned all the
tracks on the disc, it will stop scan-
ning.

Push the “

forward or reverse the disc. When you
push the switch again, the DVD player
will resume playing.
5. “PICTURE” switch (video CD only) Push the “PICTURE” switch to turn off
the control screen and return to the
picture previously displayed.
You can adjust the color, contrast, tone
and brightness of the screen.
Push the “DISPLAY” switch on the control-
ler and then the “Display” screen will ap-
pear.
The screen may turn purple to deflect the
sunlight. This is not a malfunction.Each time you push the “+” or “” switch,
you can adjust the color, contrast, tone
and brightness of the screen.

“AUTO” button
For automatic operation of the air condi-
tioning, press the “AUTO” button. An indi-
cator light will illuminate to show that the
automatic operation mode has been se-
lected.
In the automatic operation mode, the air
conditioning selects the most suitable fan
speed and air flow, onoff of the air condi-
tioning and air intake according to the
temperature.
When you press the “AUTO” button with
the air intake mode at FRESH, internal
circulation may be applied for maximum
cooling.
When you adjust the temperature selector
to maximum cooling, a “MAX COLD” mes-
sage will appear on the display and the
air intake mode will be automatically
changed to RECIRCULATE.
You may use manual controls if you want
to select your own settings.
To turn off the automatic operation, press
the “OFF” button.Fan speed selector
Turn the knob to adjust the fan speed—to
the right to increase, to the left to de-
crease.
In automatic operation, the fan speed is
adjusted automatically unless you desire
another fan speed mode.
Temperature selector
Turn the knob to adjust the temperatu-
re—to the right to warm, to the left to
cool.
The temperature display changes between
“
 C” and “ F” when the unit of the outside
temperature display is changed. (For de-
tails, see “Multiinformation display” on
page 254 in Section 19.)
“OFF” button
Push the button to turn off the air condi-
tioning system.
“MODE” button (air flow selector)
Press the button to select the vents used
for air flow.
In automatic operation, the air flow mode
is selected automatically among Panel, Bi
level and Floor unless you desire another
air flow mode.

“AUTO” button
For automatic operation of the rear air
conditioning, press the “AUTO” button. An
indicator light will illuminate to show that
the automatic operation mode has been
selected.
In the automatic operation mode, the air

“REAR” button
You can turn on or off the rear air condi-
tioning system by pushing the button.
“FRT+RR” button
You can cancel the operations from the
rear control panel by pushing this button.
While the operation from the rear control
panel are stopped, the front and rear air
conditioning systems can be set simulta-
neously from the front control panel.
“OFF” button
Push the “OFF” button to turn off the air
conditioning system.
Air flow selector
Push the button to select the vents used
for air flow.
1. Panel— Air flows mainly from the roof
panel vents.
2. Bilevel— Air flows from both the roof
panel vents and floor vents.
3. Floor— Air flows mainly from the floor
vents.

Operate the multiinformation display
with the ignition switch on.
When the ignition switch is turned to
“ON”, the last previously used mode dis-
played just before the ignition switch is
turned off will appear.
When the instrument panel lights are
turned on, the brightness of the display
will be reduced.

“E/M” button
This button is used to switch between English/U.S. Customary System and
metric units.
Each time you push this button, the displa y switches. This is also linked to the
multiinformation display and the front and rear air conditioning displays. The display
variations are as follows;
The initial mode will be English/U.S. Customary System units, however, if the unit
is switched to metric and power is off, it will display metric units on powerup.
